Yea some people just weren't married to what 2k had been doing. Yes it has evolved over the last ten years fixing all the holes in gameplay and animations but it doesn't walk on water.

Live is bringing a fresh look with great presentation, good My player mode nice graphics and solid gameplay with possibly better physics.

Nobody saying it's the best game ever. It's a great surprise and nice for us to finally have another choice after years of same ole same ole .

Plus the grinding and microtransactions for some modes is becoming unbearable. This is fun regardless of some of the lacking details that will undoubtedly improve after the next couple years

    It's a great start.

I still love 2K but yeaaa Live is definitely bringing some new and fresh. The game play, presentation, atmosphere, layup animations, street ball dyckman and drew league definetly makes it worth it bro.

And competition is always good. Why can't the universe spoil us with 2 dope *** sim basketball games I love it lol

While I love sports but I don't play a lot of sports video games any more as I have gotten into other video games more and with having less free time then I used to have I have a hard enough time playing and getting threw video games even with out playing sports games. I am a franchise mode guy and don't care about online playing like at all and I don't normally like to buy both live and NBA 2k or NHL and NHL 2k back when those were around as I think it is kind of silly to buy multiple sports games when they are the same type of sport and I don't know if I should get both this year or just 2k or just live or what. With live only being 40 and like 32 with BB gamers club I am wondering if I should take a chance. With it only being 32 and the fact you can always get money back by trading a game in it wouldn't cost that much but if franchise mode is not good then it is pointless for me.

NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

            Here's my two cents:

            1. Presentation is phenomenal both in game and in cutscenes as well. LOVE the First Take integration. Almost forgot I was playing a game there for a minute. Literally when the scene ended I was confused as to why my TV turned off lol. I was blown away. Coolest thing I've ever seen in a basketball game.

            2. Atmosphere is fantastic. Love the pan out of the crowd when someone hits a big shot.

            3. There is absolutely ZERO off ball movement. Career Mode seems extremely boring when everyone is just standing around or setting the occasional ball screen for someone other than you. No downscreens, no basket cuts, literally zero movement unless the ball is dribbled at them. This was a game killer for me once I unlocked play now. No freelance movement like in 2K almost made me put the game down right there.

            4. Dribbling is meh, but it may be because I'm so used to 2K dribbling. I couldn't tell if it was better or worse.

            5. Defensive AI wasn't very good, but you can tell that they are programmed to be that way in some circumstances. The AI will switch every ball screen, but at least they do it correctly so it is still somewhat effective. I've seen some really terrible decisions such as a defender trying to dig down the post on the block all the way from the weak side wing. Not good.

            6. I don't like having only a block shot attempt and no shot contest. I've never understood why that ever became a thing. You don't see players jumping 5 feet in the air to block a jump shot. (Edit: Shot Contest is Right Stick Up. Oops)

            7. Shooting seems too easy. The AI and I hit 10 straight threes to start off my first play now game. Some of them were very contested.

            8. Layups were too long and drawn out. I also saw the AI take 5 steps with no dribble. I had to laugh at that.

            9. Commentary is weak. I like Van Gundy, but it just doesn't flow as well as 2K. Even the old days of Live with Steve Kerr seem better than this.

            10. Ties in to a previous point but no motion offense is just a deal breaker for me. As a basketball coach, being able to jump in and run actual offenses is my favorite aspect of the 2K. I don't think I can play basketball without it.

Considering my expectations were very minimal, I was pretty surprised with the demo. However, it's still not up to par with anything 2K has or will put out with 2K18 imo. I love the presentation and the story behind the career mode, but the gameplay still seems very bland to me. The lack of motion offenses leads to very sluggish gameplay. Not every offensive action should be triggered by dribbling somewhere. It's just not realistic in any way. This might be a great game for a casual basketball fan or a youngster learning the ropes of the game. But as someone who is involved with basketball for a living, it's not realistic enough for me.

To put things in some sort of ratings perspective:

            Presentation: 9
            Commentary: 4
            Gameplay: 7
            Realism: 5
            Overall: 6.5 out of 10

Also me ending the game with a baseline canned animation dunk on 2 defenders. I shouldnt have triggered but i was ashamed of it lol

Yea that first one is stupid, if someone would have bodied him up and guarded him he wouldn't have been able to move that far into the lane.

and that 2nd one video, def not a canned animation man. You blew by your actual defender taking him out of contesting your shot, and basically just put a knee in the defenders chest for the dunk.. You took off way before he even had a chance to contest you... IMO, that is..

also what camera angle you playing with? That damn line don't bother you, that's all i could look at, haha

Good news: You are right! The contest shot looks great too!

Bad news: It didn't stop LeBron from hitting a three in Iggy's face! Haha

                    Thanks for the help!

I think the game is good. It has a lot of flaws, but the good outweighs the bad enough to justify a purchase from me.

This game has some very realistic on court elements to it. Driving, shooting contested vs open shots, Defense... All done in a very realistic manner outside of blocks (which are scripted animations, and quite frankly, a bit much). CPU is smart, but it's also very cheese in how it keeps it's self in games.

Making crazy shots, Curry and Klay blocking LBJ and TT at the basket when it's it desperate need for a stop, weird offensive rebounds, refusing to pick up loose balls, It's pretty annoying. The game is good though. I'm sure most of this will be fixed by launch. This is just a demo after all.

My superstar level gameplay observation. Kevin Love plays like Dr. J and Kyrie Irving all rolled up into one. One handed around the basket shots, hook shots, everything. Kevin Love is the man in NBA Live 18's demo.

I think you can absolutely get $32 worth out of the Franchise in Live.I enjoy it. It's just not deep at all. Rumor is it has not been touched (just a rumor). Personally the Franchise in 16 was way easier for me to play with my limited time because of the accelerated clock and such. The other game takes way way longer with all the cutscenes, pre-game, half-time, and post game stuff. They do have an ESPN type half and post game as you see in the demo.

Personally this is the only bball game I'm playing this year. I owned the other game in 11,12,13,14,15,16,17. I played a lot and I mean a lot of 17. Also was big into Live in 15 and 16. Personally the game is deep and fun for me. The gameplay and on the floor action are enough for me to want to rock my Mavs and bring home the trophy. I'm a big LUT (Ultimate Team) head too. Hope this helps and even if you go the other way I'm happy the demo was enough to even make you think of switching. That is the progression this Franchise needs. Happy gaming sir!

It really depends what size tv you're playing on. 4K looks great on bigger screens. If you're like me and you like to play on 24 inch monitors then don't bother with the pro.

I played the loading game and 1 game in the one story. I love the drew and rucker. Not a big my player type of person, but I like it so far. Graphics are solid. Only thing I hate is the net. I love how the players attack the basket and the contact between defenders. Now what I hate is the shooting. I just dont feel in great control. Still playing and def like the game so far. Idk if I'll purchase it, but the demo is a solid start.

That's an odd rumour given that the Madden team has been putting out the fact that the lack of progress in Madden's franchise mode is that the lead designer was shifted to work on NBA Live's franchise mode.
