Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Same....i can see myself being immersed in this mode. I have been asking 2k for an option for no voice in mycareer mode as a voiced myplayer really detracts you from the game. Now I can imagine the one as some eastern European player trying to make it big.
More impressions.....I wish that we didn't have to check the item out when opening a new crate. It's really annoying and cumbersome.
Plenty of canned animations around the rim. It's not that bad and it needs more variety if anything.

Eastern European prospects don't usually play the Rucker and Dyckman. [emoji12]

Nike is doing the uniforms for the NBA... How would they possibly keep Adidas uniforms? They'd lose their license.

NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Yea these are my positives as well.. the manual defense control is pretty damned good
And I'll Tell you what I'm only playing on OG xboxone but the graphics to me look better than 2k17 (IN GAME) The depth and detail to the faces, lighting, self shadowing and other details make the players look great. Especially the outdoor courts. Not to mention the way the bodies move on court. Feels like I'm playing with little 3d people.
Can't imagine how good the full game wili look on Pro or Xbox X
I really don't see how the game graphically is better than 2K. The player likeness leaves a lot to be desired. The skin textures are weird. It honestly looks like a last gen game to me at times. I just don't see what you guys are seeing.

The faces look more real especially the eyes. The skin textures to me look far better, more depth and detail and lighting is better in Live.
Also while a few faces are off in general the likenesses are pretty damned good
but likenesses is more opinion I guess unlike the textures and lighting.Comment

I actually like the shooting when it doesn't delay. I love the dribbling, but the level of control you have over how fast or slow you move needs to be worked on, it's very jerky.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Just finished The One and I have a good amount of time logged in the other modes, I have to say that Live is back! The one-on-one mechanics are great, on offense you have to work hard to get past your opponent. On defense, if you reach or make a mistake you will pay. The dribbling is so good, Kyrie could do anything he wanted and his layup package was just as nice.
Cons, I wish there were more signature jumpers and there are still some wonky animations the game puts you in but that's Live for you. There's more but I think those problems can be fixed with sliders.
They finally have a solid foundation to build on and for $40, it's a no brainer, I'm sold.Boston Celtics

You can do that with any big in Live. I dominated a while quarter with Tristan Thompson.

Yep, that's kind of a big problem with this game including too many reverse layups. It seems like everyone is equipped with spectacular finishes around the rim, euro steps, etc. In addition to that, I'm seeing too many standard left hand jump shots in the paint/near the paint by right handed players that probably have no business doing them. Left handed shots should be reserved for Curry, Irving, and a couple others. But even big man and everyone is able to pull them off. I'm not simply talking about regular layups, but I'm talking about floaters and even what looks like just around the rim left handed jump shots -- everyone seems to be doing them.
It's still an enjoyable game, but having only been playing the game for a couple days and issues like these showing up, I'm surprised the developers didn't see these as red flags. I am still very likely going to do the digital preorder it because it does offer some very good aspects.
One thing I've come to realize is that the L1 (PS4) button is a very powerful tool on both offensive and defense.Comment

What is it supposed to do? What am I missing?

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I think to put my finger on it.... 2k seems like an animated cartoon representation of a player. Live , the way the arms and legs move and are lit and shadowed, they appear to be little 3d versions of the player (yes I know not 3d but more like a controlled puppet than a cartoon).
That adds to the feeling of better graphics, there is depth to the on screen representation. Even though Drive camera mode in 2k puts you in a virtual 3d space Live looks like I am controlling each player more.Last edited by Klocker; 08-13-2017, 04:47 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
So this last game I played I went to the line 6 times, on 5 of those I missed my second free throw (I hate free throw shooting on this game btw), and on all 5 of those misses Tristan Thompson tip-slammed my miss back in... that needs to be toned down a bit lol.
