Im wondering if the first take segments are only in the beginning of The One or if its through out The One game mode. I like it, so hopefully there is alot more of the story aspect than the demo.

The pessimist in me thinks it stops once you're drafted. Too many variables.

I like the Demo, main problem I have Is the post up moves. I don't feel like I have that much control and feels like it's still lacking.
As I pretty much is a career only player and most often plays big men that is really important to me.
I'll play the demo some more it might be I just need practice.

been an issue for a while, so i dont know of its something that can be fixed this late in the cycle...but fast breaks seem a bit rougher thsn usual..

They kind of just run down court in a cluster after a passing lane steal...random guys slow down, and guys like TT run out to the 3 point line..

You had TT run to the corner for 3? I've had guys filling their lanes correctly. I'll watch even more for it.

Something I've seen are secondary breaks, finding Curry or Klay on the wing for a quick 3. Pretty nice.

                CPU tried to cook me

Nice sequence even though I was able to recover for a straightaway block with demo DPOY K Love haha

I've had great fast breaks. Curry pulling up for 3 from straight on, Durant pulls up a lot, Klay breaks out to the wings and guys look for him.

The Cavs have Smith run to the corners and I've had TT run to the middle for alley oops.

Not sure if it's been said already but there's a bug, if you turn subs to manual, this affects the CPU and they never sub in.

Love fast break system, can't cheese and just lob it up or sprint it up all game before defense can recover, but doesn't feel 'fixed'. Still get the occasional 1v0 fast break. Off the backboard oops are actually pretty fun and feel like u did it having to time the finish.

Post play with bigs I will agree leaves more to be desired. It can be fun with guys like LeBron or Durant, u can do a nice Dirk like fade which feels good, but the push shot things are still there, thankfully much much less.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

Game is much improved, but a lot of the lingering old wonky animations still exist and it really detracts from the experience. You will have this really beautiful one on one interaction, only to trigger into a layup or dunk animation that has a defender jump to hyper speed to lock into an animation to contest.

There are countless other subtleties that just don't look lifelike. The way players stand. The mannerisms that the players have when nothing is happening. The way players run.

The one on one system is incredible and really rewarding, but the physics and foot planting that are the centerpiece to those interactions, don't seem to apply to everything going on off the ball. Strange sliding or bouncing into position still occurs when coming to help on defense, or when moving off of screens.

This also applies to ball physics. When a lot of dribbling occurs there are certain instances where the ball will warp back into a players hand to branch to another move, as opposed to penalizing a player for doing too much dribbling.

I also feel the ball feels floaty around the perimeter, as well as on jump shots. And sometimes it doesn't feel context sensitive, where one moment it will shoot out of a players hand who is running in the opposite direction and other times it will, float when you are moving in the direction you are passing.

The signature animations exist, but I'm not sure they are very good or very lifelike. The Curry shot animates very strangely and has weird timing on his jump. Looks very non-lifelike. Not to mention the strangeness that occurs when a celebration animation is chained to the end of the jump shot.

Visually there is a lot of excellent detail in this game, but I really dislike the way this game renders from a distance. It looks very PS3ish when you aren't up close and that is amplified when in game cut scenes occur. It just doesn't look very good. Which is unfortunate because I really love the ESPN cam. Not to mention that player models feel small. There should be a way that they could make players feel big, without affecting on court spacing.

All that said, I'm still going to support because I think they are moving in the right direction, but there is still a long way to go.

Try the practice mode mate, you can get used to post-up moves better there.

This is coming from someone who deleted the Live demo's in 16 after one game and isn't into MyPlayer type of modes:

I played this for about 4 hours Friday night and it's a really fun game. I thought it was odd decision make you play two games of The One before you can do the tutorials. However, I got through the first two games and played decent enough, then after that, I hit tutorials and got in a little practice to get the basic controls down and lit it up in my third and fourth games. Like I said initially, I'm not usually into MyPlayer modes but once one game of The One ended I found myself wanting to play another. I'm not sure if it was the street ball, the storyline or what but I found the mode really entertaining.

After that, I played the Golden State (me) vs Cleveland match up and again I thought it was super entertaining. The controls were simple enough where I could hang despite being new to the series. The lighting and some of the shots in the game were amazing, then there are some that just look off. I can't quite put my finger on why but overall the game looks and feels very much different that 2K17 which is a great thing.

Game play wise I didn't really have too many complaints. Although, I just played one game. One thing that stood out was Freakin' Tristan Thompson was an animal on the offensive boards just like in real life but my AI guys like Draymond or Zsa Zsa really didn't hit the boards at all. Obviously, Thompson is more explosive than Draymond and way more explosive that Zsa Zsa but something felt off about that. Other than that I didn't see anything too crazy.

I'm sure if I played more I could have more pros and cons but on the surface, my biggest take away was that the gameplay was really fun. I look forward to spending a little more time with the demo and hearing franchise news before making a buying decision.

Cool double block at the beginning, lol

so I need to be a bit more patient.

I have my quirks here and there, but overall gotta give props to the Live team...way different vibe than I had last year with 16..

I'll pass this along. Thanks for the video. I've not seen it that I know of. I've seen Love do it, but that's to be expected. TT is not, lol.

I had a block yesterday where Live just got a tip of his finger on it, and LeBron swats it over the backboard after Love would have kept it in play, speaking of double blocks lol.

Glad to hear that it's more appealing this year. I agree completely. A lot of work still to go, but not time strides.

Love that most seem to agree on the defensive side of the ball. I've been crossed more times than I can count from reading it wrong. On the demo, I think the defensive assist is too overpowered.
