Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
One more question concerning the camera angle and controls in LIVE. I don't see an option in the demo version (unless I'm just missing it), but in the final build will there be an option to make the R-stick controls camera relative? Like I mentioned, I am strictly a broadcast camera angle guy so getting in the habit of performing crossovers left to right on the stick is a little challenging as opposed to up and down. I'm sure I'll eventually get the hang of it as I am playing a ton out of the demo, but it would be nice to have the option in the final version of the game.

NBA Live 18 controls list
and don't forget u can manipulate various things with sliders.
I wish the jump shot could feel heavier tho. can't do nothing about it with sliders.
it feels too light especially after the release. I can't feel the weight and momentum. want some gatherness before the shooting too.
maybe it's the weirdness that people's talking about.
I really like the footprinting, physics, reboundings and 1 on 1 defense.
oh, the shot meter jerkiness. it just doesn't moove as smoothly as others. feels like 30fps. annoying af.
Thanks for that link man. That will actually help out alot! And I agree with everything you mentioned here too."Basketball is my favorite sport

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I hate shooting with the shot stick (in LIVE and 2K)...call me old school I guess, but I just never could get myself to warm up to it ever since 2k introduced it. I wanted to turn it off in LIVE, but I am unsure if this will eliminate the ability to perform a step back shot or the ability to choose between a right handed or left handed layup, etc. Are we still able to perform these moves without the shot-stick (i.e. pushing the L-stick in a certain direction while pressing the shoot button)?
As far as my impressions....I am an older gamer who used to love LIVE, mostly in the 90's. I am also actually one of those "weirdos" who really enjoyed the March Madness series. But this is the first LIVE I have even touched since 05?....since then I've only played 2K. I'm strictly an offline (Franchise mode), broadcast camera player (if that matters to anyone).
It took me a good while to get out of 2K mode, but my initial thoughts were underwhelming. But for some reason I keep going back to it. I am not sure what it is exactly....I feel like I can nit-pick this game to death and tell you exactly what I hate about this game from the player models, the stiff animations, the ball interactions with the rim, the sounds of blocks and steals, cpu ai, the stupid way players stand at the FT line waiting for the ball, the lack of player personalities (seeing Klay, K-Love, Draymond, Lebron all do the same Curry pose after shooting a three is really annoying), the way passes seem to float in the air....I can go on.....
It's easier for me to name what I don't like than it is for me to name what I do like. But I still keep wanting to play the demo. As others have already said in this thread, it's just fun. It is frustrating because I go back and play 2k17 and wish it had some elements of the demo....and vice versa. I really want to like Live again....this is definitely a step in the right direction. I will probably hold out on buying until i read some impressions on the final build. I wonder how close or far the demo is from the final release? Does anyone have any insight on this?
Like I said, its been a while since I have owned Live so everything is new and fresh to me. Which may be the reason I keep coming back to the demoComment

Awesome! Thanks! I did already know how to euro (from the practice shoot around mode).

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Very similar to my impressions. I actually bought Live 16 when it came out but barely touched it because I played so much 2k16. It's difficult to go back and forth between the games because they feel so different. It takes awhile to adjust. I have yet to go back to playing 2k17 since the Live demo dropped. I want to give Live it's fair due before I go back to 2k17. That might be the big deciding factor for buying Live. If I go back 2k17 and don't have an urge to go back to live I'll strictly stick with 2k but if I go back to 2k17 and feel like I'd rather be playing Live then I'll probably have to buy both games this year.
I will say this.....I honestly can't remember a DEMO that has grabbed this much attention from me as much as NBA LIVE 18 has.
Playing last night in front of my son (13 yrs old and is a 2K junkie)...but he is more of the demo I feel most of these gaming companies are catering to: online player, loves the my player, my career mode, etc.. He thinks stuff like the Madden Longshot is cool.......
I was expecting him to not like LIVE at all since all he's known was 2K. Surprisingly, he thought the game was "cooler than expected" to use his words. He thought it was even cooler when I tried to show him the things in this game that I thought was represented better than in 2K (from a former basketball coach's perspective). I was happy to see that he was willing to look past the lack of animations and signature shots (and signature SHOES...yea, he's one of those people too) and he see's the potential in this game.
And the thing he liked the most:
THE ESPN SCOREBUG! He also loved the halftime and post game show and said he wished 2K would do something like that with the TNT logo. He is right though....such a little touch like mirroring the actual broadcast of an NBA game is a big part of what makes it immersive.
Also, he liked that the NBA LIVE companion app got a waaay better scan on his face than 2K did lol.Last edited by K_rob11; 08-14-2017, 01:39 PM."Basketball is my favorite sport

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I actually played both games back to back (tried to have similar settings, played with the same teams etc..). Keeping an open mind the whole time, it helped me learned what I appreciate more from each game. It just gives me a better idea of how far Live has to go on a few things compared to what we have in the other game or how much better Live does something that 2K doesn't do well.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Live also added some more of the ESPN broadcast package.
The stat overlays, and some of their accompanying stats were not in 16.
I just wish they were more frequent. Would also like to see more dead ball replays. Even without commentators.
Things that bring it even closer to an actual broadcast.
Edit. One thing. The him vs him stat comparisons in the score bug are nice but crunched. Good idea but not implemented perfectly. It's hard to read the text and it's squeezed when there is too many stats.
This is where a deal ball replay or two with stat comparison would work really well.
