Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

After more time, I'm getting more and more annoyed with this delayed response I'm experiencing when jumping for rebounds or blocking shots. Sometimes my player doesn't jump at all or jumps well after the ball has been rebounded or the ball has been shot. Am I the only one experiencing this? Also, these after bucket celebrations are out of control to the point I end up at a defensive disadvantage because of them(Can I turn them off?). EA has to tweak inside scoring as it is way to successful no matter the resistance.

For One players- Is it possible to buy individual items rather than having to buy crates and simply hope I get the item I want? If not, this is a poor decision imo. I had to spend nearly $10,000 (8 Crates) before I got the item I actually wanted (Black fitted shirt)since crate items are random.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I have experienced a delay when rebounding but not blocking shots. The rebounding part is annoying . Also some movements in the game can be too slow .

            This.

Exactly! People have been complaining about things like Irving being too crafty inside on drives, LeBron being too strong and explosive, but that's real life! Just have to bring better defense, you're not always going to win against elite talent, nor should you. I get blocked or forced into bad shots all the time on drives, don't let one possession cause you to file a complaint!

Love the challenge against the stars, it feels sort of like what I'd expect in real life...like genuinely scared when LeBron or Durant are in attack mode.

Thats also the danger in simply declaring every mechanic the best thing ever done...and why I try to give pretty pointed feedback on what actually needs to be worked on and improved. I'm guessing this demo feedback will have a pretty big effect on the day 1 patch.

It has to be seperated from the blanket "I cant shoot", 'its too hard to dunk" etc. messages they'll be getting on twitter all the time.

So like all of you I've been playing everyday.

Here's my biggest takeaway - it's a damn big step in the right direction.

Everything I think has pretty much been said and it seems there's quite a bit of consensus.

They need to tune stuff (which there is time before release for things like shooting %), but in general this is huge IMO. This is exactly waht I wanted. No one should have expected no flaws. They put a solid product together and the streets mode is just awesome. They can make that their bread and butter.

It's going to push 2k and that's what I wanted. Two rivals going at it year after year does nothing but good for basketball video game lovers. I'm excited and I will be buying to run on the streets.

But after a few games i had like 50,000 to spend on crates. 8 items would only cost you like 8,000. Not a big deal with the amount you get per game

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

One negative I noticed was there are still a lot of uninterruptible animations. I don't feel like my big man can do much to alter any of them. Had a pg drive right at me and finish over, around, under several times, even with my hands up, jumping, etc. Making some animations contestable and making some where I would be able to make a change/impact would be helpful.

Also some times where a loose ball is in the back court and it's almost like the ball just runs flat, runs out of air, stops bouncing

Fantastic game though. With best buy Gamers Club, can't be beat for $32.

I'll say it again: I know I keep saying it, but MAN it feels good to not only get the game for $32, but to be able to start out my player at a 70, saving me another $20 to $30 in VC money, and also, by the time the demo is over I'll probably be rated between 75 and 80. Feels really good to make even a slight impact right away without having to Shell out crazy money

Shooting has a delay on it online, and I think way too many contested shots go in. Defense seems unrealistic. You have to body up on everyone and be right on them or the shot goes in almost everytime. In real life guys sag off at the perimeter and close out late, I can't do that in this game. It doesn't seem to register as a contested shot. Presentation, sure. It's cool seeing the ESPN stuff. But the commentary is so robotic and repetitive. I didn't really feel immersed. The player likeness was kind of jarring after seeing 2K screens. The graphics reminded me of a last gen game. The signature shots are either not in or way off for the few guys that have them. All players feel the same to me.

But hey, glad you found something you like. I think there is some positives here. The One is great. Though I'm 99% sure the First Take stuff goes away once you're drafted and that's part of what makes it really cool. There's a foundation. But I don't think this pushes 2K the way some here seem to think. Particularly once the Madden like franchise mode is revealed.

This irks me the most. Too many players finishing like Kyrie. Not sure if they can tone that down, as well as tone down full court heaves always hitting the rim.
