Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
One thing I gotta say is I freaking LUV the replay button, seriously!
We all know sometimes we make a bucket that was pleasing or smth, and we want to rewatch it real quick. Then we have to pause the game, rewind the replay, get the camera in a good position and replay it out, kinda of totally breaking the immersion in the game. Such a small thing as the replay button on the R3 makes the action non-stop, and it feels so natural and its so freaking pleasing! Its been in live in the past and I'm very happy its back
As someone on the Presentation team for NBA LIVE, it's great to hear you love this feature. You listed many of the reasons why such a feature seemed "obvious" for us to put in the game.
Glad you like it!Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I see this way too often. It would be ok if it was just Swaggy P doing this, but I've seen this celebration and other ridiculous looking ones from Klay Thompson and Kevin Love. It kills the immersion for me.
I got to play a couple more games tonight and the flaws are really beginning to stick out more and more....and a lot of it has to do with silly stuff like above and lack of variation. And it begins as early as the jump ball ALWAYS going to the PG. I'm starting to recognize all the "money" animations where I know the shot is going in. I'm also afraid that there may not be too many more player specific animations other than what we see in the demo.....I hope I'm wrong, I really hope that this demo isn't as close to the final build as I think it is.
I like the ESPN broadcast camera (it's the only one I'll play on)....but the players just seem a lot smaller compared to 2K's stadium broadcast.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I didn't get too much time to play yesterday, but I did have fun for the 90 minutes or so I did get to.
Dribbling feels better than 16, but I definitely need to learn the controls more. It didn't always feel like my inputs were matching up with what was on the screen. For now, I'm going to chalk that up to not knowing the controls very well.
I love that you don't really get stonewalled by the CPU defense. There's actually a sense of weight and momentum. I do wish I could move a little more subtly with the ball, but overall, it's much improved.
Arena atmosphere and crowd noise is excellent, as always. Commentary has also been improved (I didn't hear Van Gundy say the "duress and pressure" line at all, which was refreshing). I am disappointed that the halftime report hasn't really been touched outside of some new graphics. Jalen Rose still sounds robotic during halftime/post game.
Still getting used to Live's implementation of the shot stick. I took a few shots on accident when trying to do an in-and-out move, including a half court shot from Harden during the opening game (that went in somehow lol).
Overall, I'm enjoying the demo, and look forward to playing more when I have a chance. Going on vacation for a week tomorrow, so I won't be able to play until next weekend at the earliest.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
OK so I've got 4 some time under my belt with this demo. The wow has worn out, and now i can see the game for what it really is.
The good
-Teams for the most part play like their real life counterparts (warriors are spot on
-The game respects angles and momentum. When you get a step on a guy with a quick ball handler, You'll alway beat your defender.
-The crowd and overall sound is done really well. I don't like the sound of the ball coming off the rim, but that's just me.
The bad
-The game is a tossup with animations and the way they look. Sometimes they look beautiful, other times they look pretty awkward.
-Blocking! there is entirely too much blocking. Often times you'll see curry and Klay jump up out of the blue and put LBJ's shot on the glass. One instance happened where The ball got sucked into kevin loves hand for a block.

-Curry hung in the back court until a foul was call. This really needs to be fixed.

Overall i think the game is on it's way back to being great again. This is a solid title from EA. I'll be getting both games, But the game has issues. Everyone so far is either all in or all out. I'm in the middle of things. I like What it has to offer, but i just don't think it's where it needs to be just yet.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I posted a video of Shumpert doing that, and he actually responded with a lmao, I ain't doin that. Response. Pretty cool.
Also, to those asking about draft position, I was 1st pick to the Sixers, so it can happen.
Lastly, keep impressions and suggestions coming. The demo and game will continue to evolve and be tweaked based on response from the community.

NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I'm out of town until Sunday night, so I won't have another chance to play until then, but I will definitely let you know if I hear any other repetitive lines.
Thanks for reaching out though! The game is feeling really solid this year, and I'm always impressed by the atmosphere in the arenas.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
One area of concern to me is momentum/pull-up shots. They are in need of some huge polish or re-work. They aren't very smooth and are very limited in animations it seems (could just be because of the demo). I also like to see an improvement on pull-up shots. I don't get the sense/feeling of being a Steph Curry coming off a screen and doing a one dribble pull-up.
Also, I have been looking through the tutorials and controls list and I see two massive holes in them.
I don't see a way to control pro-hop/hop step while dribbling towards the basket(Was in Live 14/15/16) and no way to control when to use the backboard on a shot. It will be extremely disappointing if these are not manually controlled this year. Hopefully this can be added in a patch if they aren't already available.Comment

Hop step pro hop on drive is in there..idk exact controls but I believe it's using the shot button away or diagonal away from the basket while letting go of driving forward. I think double tap the shot button as well but I've done it a couple times with LeBron.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Agreed on pull ups, would boost the offensive game even more if smoothened out.
