^just wanna say I do find it crazy how big Myplayer has gotten in NBA gaming.

Never ever thought it'd be as big as it did, was always an after thought to me, and then boom it just exploded more and more and became the main feature for most.

Still can't get into it, always gonna be a 5v5 NBA teams guy.

I keep seeing people say that Live might dethrone 2K in a couple of years as they are moving in the right direction.



Well as a strictly offline Be A Pro player as long as Live lets me be my own name and not Prez or Freq, doesn't require me to pick up a bag and walk out the door, doesn't require me to fall off a barrel or jump in the air 1 million times to get random upgrades, doesn't have annoying flashing orange circles tying me to a partner I don't need or want, doesn't keep calling me orange juice long after I have moved on then Live will have dethroned 2K for me.

Well we already know you're 'The Comeback Kid' and your fellow 'Hype Brother' Nick is probably gonna be with you in some capacity. So.

It's funny. I made myself for the first time on NBA Action 95 on Sega Genesis in 1996. I would say from 1996 until 2007 I made myself in every game not just basketball and then the MyPlayer happened and it's like, I don't even care about it. I used to love making and playing as myself in the past but not anymore. I cannot get into it myself either overall but the One was really fun especially trying out different player types. I guess WWE games are different and it's one-on-one but team games? Rather play as real teams. If it's individual I have no problem making myself but I just got into making myself in 2014 lol. I'm turning 33 soon and there's not much time to play MyPlayer, a season and other things. Just not possible.

Have to say I am surprised by this Demo guys. Really, really surprised actually.
The presentation team in particular, kudos to you guys man you have really stepped it up, I love the replays, the dead ball cuts and the overlays. It all feels quite genuine, and not "tacked on" or forced pretty much. Along with the overall Atmosphere, this is an area where imo Live 18 is killing it.

As for the gameplay thats the other thing that surprised me the most. We actually have a game here folks, like.. A legit basketball game that I think can probably be made to play however style you want.. Sure there is some moments of awkardness, but then there are moments of incredible basketball fluidity that i havent seen before in any hoops game.

In general, I think Live has locked up the whole street mode thing, im not even into that but i can see what they have here is damn good and have a feeling a lot of guys are going to be into that come release..

The offline/5 on 5 might need some work to get it where i want it but hopefully sliders and feedback can help with that. For now though, damn colour me impressed. And this is from a 2k fan since 2K, hah.. I ain't saying its there yet but you guys are on the right path for sure.

fully agree!

left live once i got a dreamcast and only basketball game i could play was 2k. so ive been riding with them for 17-18 years.

but live 18(16 was fun as well) has a fun factor i havent experienced since 2k15 park mode (before demigods). it also has real basketball flow to the game. best way i can describe it is, 2k looks like a real a basketball game - live plays like a real basketball game

Updating my impressions a little bit:

On higher difficulties the game is really a challenge, I love how when Im guarding KD or Curry I have to like REALLY be focused, I guess the same way the NBA players feel. The slightest bite on a hesitation they do sidestep and bang the jumper on me.

The atmosphere is just spot on. Just like the NBA Live 10 days, EA really nails the crowd reactions and the game atmosphere in such a way that you feel 2x more immersed in the action just because of it. The ESPN presentation package is something that was worth every penny EA spent on it as well. Both the announcers (which could definately use more lines), and the halftime/postgame, the CAMERA ANGLES!!!, the scoreboard...

I'm really impressed.

I think the gamespeed did go up. Personally liked the slower speed as well. I see it's set at 70 in game settings, was it at 50 originally?

OK so it wasnt just me daydreaming. It was originally 50. After the update it was set to 70. Still not too fast. I like it.

That happened to me as well before the update. After about the third resetting it would just hang no matter how man times I restarted game or console.

Have not tried since the update but at one point I deleted my save so I had to start fresh with new player and lost all my gear and points

Just noticed that during clutch situations, the green spot in the shot meter increases with high clutch players like Curry, Durant, Irving and LeBron. Pretty cool down the stretch when you need a big shot.
