Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
It will be under $20 by Black Friday. That's why there's not much of a reason to purchase this game at release. The One stuff is fun so if that's what you're into then yes this game is for you. But the actual on court gameplay gets worse and worse the more you play and the flaws stick out. No roster editing and most likely a lackluster Franchise mode doesn't help. I don't quite understand releasing basketball games in September, especially so close after a Madden release but if I NEED to have a bball game in September, the one with the better gameplay, more depth, and complete control over a crazy in-depth Franchise mode makes it a no brainer.
I can't justify $40 on this game because once I got out of The One mode, this game got REALLY boring fast because of the lackluster gameplay. But for under $20 i'd get it for The One mode.
1.) Details on LUT
2.) Details on Legends
3.) Details on Customizing League Play
4.) Details on being able to play in the Parks and Courts offline
5.) Details on any Pro-Am or The One challenges geared toward the solo player
The gameplay is lacking for the official on-court NBA stuff, I admit; but it's perfect for those Park/Gym modes.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
As a big in 2k even if I jumped the game would still choose an animation and many times completely ignoring my desire to jump. Sometimes the game will make me attempt a dumb charge , stay on the ground etc ...
There are times in live 18 where dunks are overdone tho#1 Laker fan

Anyone notice shotclock cheese? I've got the cpu really covered and he hits the last second shot. It's happened a couple of times to me and I'm wondering if anybody else noticed.Last edited by Goffs; 08-13-2017, 12:14 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I've seen that reverse layup and your guy swipes at nothing animation too much. Inlay rim protector and there are some animations where I don't press anything at all. He would jump up for a swat and miss....seems canned to me...

Haven't noticed shot clock cheese though#1 Laker fan

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
Sorry was being sarcastic, there are clearly canned annimation, offence rebounding is bad, the AI of offensive doesn't go after loose balls, too many players make contested bad ugly shots, alot of the player contact should be blocking or charge calls, the forcefeild that pervents the ball for temporary going out of bounds, the dumb AI that will touch the ball just as it going out of bounds when the other team was the last to touch it,, shooting is way too easy and I dont see a varity in shot release spead or points for individual player, I am not trying to be a downer but you have to acknowledge the proplems with the game in order for them to be fixed prior or after release, I get alot of people are glad to have 2 games and options but come on lets be real.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
There are plenty of canned animations in this game man, I'm surprised thered a notion there isn't...ill attribute it to hype. There are a lot of long driving animations you cant break once started.
Its not necessarily always a bad thing either...there are more canned animations then then there ever were in 15, 15 and 16....but I think most will say 18s gameplay is above all
There are canned animations that blatantly take away control, there there are some that improve interaction/realism...there's a lot of the latter. I think the Live realized all that cool physics/ limb entanglement and interaction is cool for replays but doesnt translate into basketball situations as well. This gens Lives suffered from players completely whiffing each other in the paint when trying to make contact. Not so much this year....ill take it.Comment

- CPU never subs? Just like the past live games. Come on EA!
- Camera angle ESPN or EA Sports camera from the side still fails to keep up with the action especially when throwing ball down court. I have to wait until the camera is in position.
Free throw routines look off.
- Jump shooting is off and looks wonky.
- Frame rate dropped significantly when my friend grabbed a controller locally and it was almost unplayable. (Ps4) the stuttering stopped when the cpu took over.
+ Great animations at times,
+ Great graphics. Players look good.
+ Awesome presentation. Great halftime show. Decent commentary.
+ Fantastic Atmosphere.
+ Decent soundtrack. How about some 80's? haha
+ I feel like I can play on-ball defense pretty well.Last edited by GisherJohn24; 08-13-2017, 12:47 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions
I'm having a blast with the demo. It is a nice change of pace from 2k. However, I don't think I will buy the game. I'm mainly an online gamer and I think this game will be dead online much like '16.Comment
