Pared, you have an amazing ability to ignore any posts that legitimately find flaws in NBA Live. No play sets, even catch and shoot screen plays...in a decade...and you just ignore stuff like that. No real team styles in a decade...but you don't say a thing against the series.

Look, Live being a poor game doesn't bother me for a moment. I rarelly even post in this forum. Would I like to see the series go to a new level after a decade? Yes.

Let's adress the issue though for a change man. Why, after a decade, are there still so many things missing from a basketball series? A decade and no different team sets...no NBA type plays...hell, not even realistic NBA style fast breaks.

And why do you, year after year say "if they add all those things...this game will be great"...

And yet they never do add those things...which is my whole point.

Maybe if a guy like you...who does the sliders extremely well and contributes to the LIVE community a lot...actually spoke out on what's missing, things may improve.

You read threads from others, and it's pretty much a given everyone knows this stuff already. You're pretty much not going to enjoy any game until the next iteration of NBA ID comes out. There's a difference between constructive criticism and incessant whining, but you, unfortunately, do not know how to skate the line. To soley post in this forum, repeatedly, what you are doing, is no different from anyone posting repeatedly the lack of a fadeaway that works, the player editor that is lacking, the slow and poor excuse for a freestyle rip-off, the poorly done Association and it's new player personality, and the lack of defensive options in the 2k series. Not to mention the lack of CPU timeouts, only fixed by a patch in Live. But I will address this:

I will agree with you here. But they HAVE added things that many have not asked for, namely, the player control with Freestyle, a more Madden-like franchise, and smooth animations. But to constantly whine about the game's negatives HERE, in the forums, does not fix anything.

If you're truly interested, there's an NBA Live forum on the EA site where the developers ask for input. THAT'S where you put that sort of thing. Not in every thread discussing the negatives of a game. You do that, and you will never enjoy a game for all the positives it does have, nor appreciate what "could be."

Stop right there. Comparing the dynasty mode to being anything like owner mode in Madden is absolutely ridiculous. They are still very far apart.

Speaking about the game here is supposed to help things, at least since Steve told us developers visit these boards!

Really? Where is this forum asking for input? I visit EASports and all I see is a general discussion board and a couple online boards, neither of which ask for suggestions on improving the game. NLSC does their annual wishlist that they send to EA Canada personally but it seems as though they ignore 75% of whats on there year after year and decide to go their own direction. Hah, what I find funny though is that I suggested that they have a separate dunk button from the shooting button about 4 or 5 years ago where people thought I was nuts and look where we are now.

Honestly, I think both of you have your points and both of you are wrong. If developers truly are passionate about what they're doing and want success with it, they want to hear both the positives and the negatives. I've shown a couple games of my own to people and really listened to feedback from them. The people that would do nothing but praise my work would drive me nuts because I knew they either weren't really paying attention to my work or they were holding back on something, which in either case, does not help me reach where I want the game to be. I know my games aren't perfect. On the other hand, I also couldn't stand when people would see a particular flaw that I had in the game and just go on and on and on about it. What worked for me was when people said "I really like this and this and this but I really think this should be here and this and this and this aren't working very well". That was great because I could properly gauge what was working right and what still needed improvement, and usually that very same night I would fix things and move things around to make the game work.

Another thing...we can't look at these types of sports games the way we do most normal video games. The difference is that they are supposed to be simulating something very real. We have a perfect copy in reality to compare it to. For me, the fun is lost the more it deviates from the real thing because then the game reacts differently than I expect it to react. And thats the key to enjoyment in any type of media, be it movies or games, that it reaches or surpasses our expectations.

Where did I write it was exactly like Owner mode? The dynasty is similar to Madden's franchise was BEFORE it had an owner mode.

I've mentioned what needs addressing for 2006 (if we even get the game, with all these damn exclusivity deals). I'm acknowledging the problems, but do they hurt the game to the point where we need to get a pitchfork and riot? That's an objective decision....

None of this takes away from any enjoyment IMO. Personally, I enjoy debates. This is a game...i can honestly tell you i've never lost a moments sleep or had any bad feelings for anyone on any of these boards over a game type debate. It's absolutely just that. Maybe some people let it upset them / ruin their enjoyment. I hope not.

Re Konami...of course there's always things to improve every game. LIVE though always seems to miss the basics. It's got everything just about perfect in terms of 5 on 5 half court pick up basketball. No dbout.

The frustrating thing is, it's not supposed to be a basketball SIM. It's supposed to be an NBA sim...which is a very different thing altogether. Play sets, 3 on 1 fast breaks, guards who run off screens, teams with different styles altogether - ie Sac and Detroit.

Live has none of these.

As I said in an earlier post, I've heard they're are not even going to attempt any of this / even consider it until the next gen consoles, ie XBox2.

Personally, nba live has surpassed Inside Drive as the best bball game for me. I think it is best if you sim about 10 years in and then play a season. i don't get the unrealistic blocks and such and it is fun to find your new superstars. No player editing is required. my only issues are:

1). too high scoring % for centers and PF. I am in the high 500s or low 600s.

2). MVP voting (minor gripe) - how can a guy on a losing team win the award? The MVP voting seems to only take into account the numbers but not the team.

3). Blocks on jum shots - too many.

4). Zone defense on fast breaks - it does not work. the cpu will go right to the hoop w/o any defensive help.

5). CPU guards take too many shots. It sucks to look at the box score and see the 90 rated center shoot 7 times and the 60 rated guard shoot 20.

6). during offseason you should be able to trade during free agents, resign, etc.

7). add mid level exceptions

8). trades? there are none unless I do it.
