Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Year 2 saw a lot of good with the team. Early in the year, we managed wins over Iowa State, Georgia, and Oklahoma to name a few big programs we beat. Unfortunately, conference play was difficult for our squad as we went an even 9-9. Still, the boys put together a 16-14 record, which is an improvement over last year's 11-17. We will lose some really good shooters who will graduate. The good news is, we picked up 2 guys who look to be valuable tools next season.

Kentucky wins the national championship yet again. Anthony Davis was still around, shockingly. Alum-related, A.J. Hammons out of a Purdue made the AA 2nd team. Bennett Scheer wins the conference's Freshman of the Year award. Frank Gaines made first-team all-conference, Scheer obviously made Freshman AC.

So now, coaching carousel. I received some nice job offers, but none of them are quite good enough yet. I think I want to stay at least until Scheer graduates, and then maybe it will be time to move on to a new program. I guess we will have to wait and see.

So, to conclude this long post, we are on to season 3. We only got the two guys from in-season recruiting, but they will add quite a bit to the team. I will be watching 7 games before the simulation period begins. The 3* freshman I got last season is our highest overall rated player at 70. The other guy isn't far behind at 68. I have some 2* guys I'm going after with respectable ratings to fit my style. I'm not saying anything yet as I'm a person who thinks small and builds things up, but I think we'll be making some noise in the NIT postseason tourney. The games I get to watch are going to be against pretty evenly matched teams. Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee-Mrtin, Iowa State (their home of course), a home and home with Utah Valley (a week apart from each other), and conference opener against Oral Roberts. We have #16 Stanford later in the year as well. I think this will be another year of improvements.

Oh wow..... Well, we're 1-1 in our first 2 games with a road trip to #16 Iowa State up next. Eastern Kentucky (slightly better) gave us a lot of trouble in the second half. The good news is that our 2 freshmen look like solid players. We lost the EKU game 92-77 (EKU made tons of 3's), and we beat Tennessee-Martin 75-62 after some pep talks. I forgot to mention we play Northwestern State in between the Utah Valley home-and-home. Can't wait for in-season signing weak either as I've got 5 schollies out to what look like some promising 2* recruits (sounds strange, huh).

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Harvard got a #1 seed in the tournament with a 27-3 record. The Big Ten sent the most teams to the tourney...8 out of their 11. IPFW finishes 15-12, and loses in the first round of the CT. It's strange to see Northwestern State (a team I beat in the regular season) play Belmont (the first team that offered me a job last off-season). Perhaps I will rethink moving on?

Lets look at the Big Ten's tourney matchups. 4 Illinois against 13 Mississippi State. 6 Purdue against 11 ND State (I had trouble against ND State this year). 7 Iowa against 10 Boston College. 2 Ohio State against 15 Morehead State. 4 IU against 13 San Francisco. 3 Michigan State against 14 Long Beach State. 2 Wisconsin against 15 Texas Southern. Finally, 4 Michigan against 13 San Diego State. Pretty good seeds for the Big Ten.

Tourney recap now...and Maryland wins the championship. Illinois got bounced in the second round by the eventual champs. Purdue got blasted by none other than Oklahoma State in the second round (irony). The Hoosiers were the best Big amen team in the tourney, and mde it all the way to the Final Four before losing to the Maryland themselves. 5 Maryland beat 10 Florida.

I looked long and hard at the job offers I would most likely get......but in the end, as much as I may regret doing so, I'm going to take on IPFW's offer and stay at least another year! They renewed me for 4 years....

Offseason, we get a nice PF (72 overall) transferring from Georgia). He should be fun to watch in the future. I might actually watch the Midnight Madness game. More on team outlook and recruiting later!

          (Hogging the thread, LOL)

White team beats Blue team 98-62. Pedro Alloway, our highest rated player, got 26 points, and shot 50% from the 3-point line. The best performance by far for the white team was freshman Soloman Deren from Chicago. He had 22 points and 10 rebounds. Bennett Scheer and Leland Minor, my twin towers, combined for 31 rebounds, and white team had 55 overall. Blue teams beat overall performer was senior Michael Onuorah with 20 points. Georgia transfer, Nemenja Djurisic from Montenegro, scored 11 points and 10 rebounds. I am excited to see where this is going. I hired two new assistant coaches, one C+ scouter, and one B+ offensively. I have A+ charisma, so I'll just handle the talking, LOL.

I have 6 scholarships to give out, and I've chucked them out early to various "high-rated" players, including a guy from Louisville, Kentucky who may be a Mr. basketball winner. Who knows??? We're in the NIT Season Tip-Off C against Oklahoma. If we win, we take on UCF. If we lose, we take on SE Louisiana. Early birds in the actual tournament are UCONN and #22 Iowa. After that, we've got SMU, Sam Houston State (picked up a new coach during off-season), another road trip to UGA, and I'll finish off my watching against Centenary and Western Illinois, and then I'll simulate.

Mastodons are 2-1 so far. We gave aomlahoma a good run for their money, but they won 87-83. We won the 3rd place pool C game over SE Louisiana 102-62. Game 3 at home against Arkansas-Little Rock ended in a 97-65 victory for us. Next 3 games are Sam Houston State, SMU, and on the road to Georgia. Signing begins, a brief look into conference play, signing ends, and then I sim.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I've had a lot of fun at IPFW, even though this year finished in a 14-14 disappointment. I've had a few good years, but we just couldn't make any noise in the conference tournament. I left the next coach off at a good spot, however. They have Bennett Scheer and Leland Minor as their twin towers, and they've got Pedro Alloway as a key component of their team, not to mention whatever guys he can bring in himself. I really hope I get to watch my old team play against my new team (I don't set up schedules, I let the game do that). Speaking of which....who is my new team?

After bringing the excitement of basketball back to Fort Wayne, Indiana (the arena has been filled at max capacity several times in the later years of my time there), I decided it was time to move on up the ladder. So now, I am happy to introduce myself as the head coach of the Buffalo Bulls! I decided on Buffalo because the MAC seems like a good conference to make some noise in. Buffalo finished last year 8-22, and thus fired their coach. I'm interested to see what sorts of players they've got. I think I'm ultimately always going to watch the Midnight Madness game. I had fun watching my guys compete last year, and it was fun considering I only run with 10 guys a season anyways. It was fun to see who would ultimately be in, and who would be out.

That's about all I've got for now. I'm going to focus on getting this team going, and I'll report back later with updates on the team and recruiting.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Finished up the 5th year of my hoopcast sim legacy with Texas Southern. Year 5 was wildly successful. We managed to go 27-4 in the regular season and crack the top 25, even earning a 7 seed in the tourney, which is just funny to me that a SWAC school could be seeded 7th. Well the great season didn't conclude with a 1 and done in the tour as we knocked off the superior 10 seed Louisville, AND the 2 seed UConn, to take tiny Texas Southern to the sweet 16!

From there we caught a break and were matched up against 14 seed Davidson, which ended in an easy win, propelling the Tigers to the elite 8! That's where we ran into Bob Huggins and his Mountaineers. We put up a good fight but just couldn't overcome foul trouble (3 of my kids fouled out), and in the end fell to WVU by 7.

Unbelievable season, I knew we'd be good, but I didn't expect a run like that, especially when the only control I have is through Hoopcast lol. We don't even have a single senior starter so we'll be stacked next year, assuming I stay .

I also noticed a crazy upset in the tourney. Wright St went 11-16 in the regular season but was able to squeak out a conference tourney championship, then knocked off UNC Ashville in the play-in game. Welp, out of the furthest depths of left field they managed to knock off #1 overall seed Indiana 68-67 in the first round. Thought that was pretty cool.

Will report back in another 5 seasons.

What system are you on L3?

I don't know what year I am on (I think I am 9-10), I started with Eastern Illinois, and after about 6 successful years I got a job offer from Stanford, I took it immediately. First two years I made the tournament, but got bounced early each time. Then I get my first great recruit, a 6-10 PF that is rated #1 overall. He is from a surrounding area in California, and I had been scouting since I saw him. He was a true one and done player, and led the nation in scoring that year with about 29 points a game. He led my team to the National Championship, losing the game before turning pro.
I'm hoping the UK job will open soon, but if it doesn't, I'm looking to get a job at another talent rich recruiting area.

To answer both (lol) I'm on PS3 and running a high octane (100 tempo, 100 fast break) offense with the Stack playbook, and low defensive/rebounding settings.

I figured this would help me run the other SWAC teams out of the gym once I brought in some talent

That sounds good. I'm sure you'll get what you want, LOL. I tried simming with hoop cast, and I liked the results...but it felt too long (I was ready to just get going to the tourneys), so I would simulate the remaining schedule instead (and then the tourneys lol). I don't know if the results differ from simming to hoopcasting....but....I think I'll go back to hoopcasting anyhow. If you know of any differences between the two, let me know, heh.

I guess for now, you can call us the "Comeback Kids" or something in that nature. The team behind the name is the Buffalo Bulls, and the reason is pretty self-explanatory. In two games where we were losing big, we managed to put up 60+ points in the second half to come away with victories. The Buffalo Bulls were 5-0, but their "Comeback Kids" gimmick didn't live up to its name against the UW-Milwaukee Panthers. With just too many mistakes by the Bulls, the Panthers capitalized off of great shooting, and won 82-74. The good news of the Bulls? They've received commitment from 4* recruit and #100 overall, Ajay Wadood (truly one of the funniest names I've seen).

I have Illinois and Illinois State left to watch, and then I think I'll start hoopcasting games.

Having a blast in Career Legacy!

Sacramento State is my team. Year 1 - 19-10 (2nd Round NIT) Year 2 - 23-9 (1st Round NIT) Year 3 - I won my conference tourney and got to the Big Dance. Beat Montana who had put me out both previous years. 1st Round, I drew San Diego St. I was the 12 seed, SDSU was the 5th seed. The game went down to the wire & my Sr. SG hit a 3 with 1.4 Secs left! I won 68-67!!

2nd Round matchup Vs. 4 Seed Ole Miss. (I moved them to the conference USA in an attempt to get Texas A&M & Mizzou into the SEC). Ole Miss had control the entire game, albeit only by 4 or 5 points at most. I made a big run and was up 1 with 30 Secs to go. Ole Miss hit a shot w/1.8 secs left. I inbounded to the ball to almost mid-court & called a timeout. There was 1.5 Secs on the clock this time. I inbounded the ball to my SR. PG (Juco recruit 69 overall) He hit about a 35 foot 3 pointer as time expired!!! I was jumping up & down and acting crazy!!!

I'm now in the Sweet 16, getting ready for a match-up against 8 seed Purdue. (Who knocked off #1 Seed Pitt). Yes, This Game still Rocks 5 years later!
