Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

So I started with North Dakota St. Built a Powerhouse there! Year 4-7, included 3 FF's, 1 National Championship and an Elite Eight. (The Championship year, I went 38-0. First time I've done that after playing this game for years!)

I was offered my dream job at Arkansas. I inherited a terrible team! My best player was a 72 & several starters were in the high 50's. Not sure how a Power Conference team is that bad! The worst part was, I only had 1 Scholarship available in the 1st two years. Year 1 - went 11-18, Year 2 - went 5-23 & got fired!

That's why I love this game! 38-0 to 5-23. You think you've mastered it & then if aren't careful, you get the pink slip! At Hampton now, struggling to rebuild my career.

Currently in my second year with Tennessee. I finished under .500 my first year but that was a sim year. I only had one recruit (81 OVR PG). My 81 OVR PG is the star of my team this year and we have a much better recruiting class this year as far as depth is concerned. I am currently highly favored to get 1 5 star, 3 4 stars, and 1 3 star. I'm 3-0 so far this year. I plan to play all of the games.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Im in my 8th year with North Carolina after staying 7 years at New Mexico State and 5 at St Francis.

Just won my first title of my career with UNC two years ago.Had a few years of recruiting where i stayed in the top five with two years gettin the #1 overall class both loaded with 5* All Americans. Then as top talent does they left early and my past two years ive stayed around .500 in the ACC and making it no further then the second round.Have some great talent again but they're all still young.

LSU has been my main competition in recruiting since ive been at UNC .John Thompson III wound up there after some bad years at Georgetown and has really turned LSU into a top program. We have gone after the same players it seems like every year and its a dog fight to the end with us winning out sometimes and them others.

Im currently 14-2 #9 overall with my next game against my old school New Mexico State 15-1 #22 overall. They went to the National Championship last year losing to #1 seed Duke but returned almost all their starters should be a good one.Things like this make me come back to this game year after year. You'd think they would fall off after i left but no,they brought in an assistant from Texas Tech who was a great recruiter, and kept them at the top when it came to Mid Major programs.I couldnt even get them that far and now he's got 5* guys lookin at the program. When i started there i was lucky if a good 3* would put me in the top 5.Lookin forward to the game with all thats played out in this legacy so far.Kinda hope they win just to put it in my face they're just fine without me lol but im not gonna let that happen...I hope.

Dont feel bad James it took me awhile lol.But ive learned that recruiting players while they're freshman and sophmores has a HUGE effect on landin top tier talent.Even Juniors but alot of time by then they've got their top 5 pretty much in place. If you happen to be in that top 5 or ten i usually hammer them guys every week with phone calls and it helps.I try and scope out my current roster and see who might be leavin early and what position i might have open two or three years ahead and go from there. When i got to Carolina I had like 7 or 8 schollies to give out if I remember right so I had plenty of openings.Looks like your doin just fine though my friend by the looks of your Dynasty

You know, I've never bothered to recruit freshmen or sophomores. Maybe that's my "issue". I've always had great classes, though (my team's OVR rating is 94, IIRC, one of the top-rated teams in the nation), so I'm not struggling, but it would be nice to get that elusive #1 class (it would be cool to get all the coaching attributes, if nothing else, though it's going to be tough to get some of the awards like the POY award considering I've never had a player average more than 18 PPG or so). I've almost always had a top 25 class and quite often top 10 as of late.

I've always wondered whether the school you coach at has any effect on recruiting. For example, is it tougher to recruit at WVU than it is at Duke or is it the same since both are in a power conference?

How do you recruit freshmen and sophomores? I remember not being able to call them, but maybe you can email them? I honestly haven't even looked in years (literally, since my dynasty is coming up on its seventh year in real time), so maybe I have been missing out. I'll have to take a look when I play the game next. I've always recruited juniors, though.

Been playing this game for years, never had a #1 class or P.O.Y. Of course, I was using the 10 man platoon system before Coach Cal at UK. LOL my top player is lucky to avg. 15 a game that way.

How do you guys play all or most of your season games? I can never complete a season, I always get to impatient and I sim it to the end of the season so I can recruit again. Any tips for making it out of a season without simming?

Man I don't believe this game! In 8 seasons at Saint Francis (PA), I've made March Madness twice and got slaughtered in the first round.

This season, I squeak in the Tournament as a 15 seed and somehow upset 2 seed LSU, 10 seed Vanderbilt, and 3 seed Louisville to go to the Elite 8!!!!

Just a couple weeks ago this team lost by 24 points to Monmoth, and now were heading into the elite 8 to face UCONN. I seriously can't believe this. Man I love this game!

I know what you are going through man in 3 years at North Florida(default rosters) I made the tourney all three years and the first two I got destroyed by Gonzaga and Memphis(14 seed vs Gonzaga, 13 seed vs Memphis). Then I do the same thing you did by just narrowly getting into the tournament as a 14 seed and end up beating #3 seeded Kentucky, 4 Seeded Gonzaga(Payback ftw) and 2 seeded Wisconsin. Now I go to the Elite Eight to face #1 seeded Duke

Yeah this game never stops amazing me. I've probably played close to 20 seasons since buying the game in 2011 and won maybe a combined 3 tournament games. I actually just beat UCONN so I'm heading to the final 4 now with two players being ranked higher than a 70 overall!! I had to double check that I was still playing on MOP difficulty because every shot somehow was going in lol

I am also curious as to how to recruit freshmen and sophomores. If I remember correctly, the only option I ever remember seeing is to ask for a tape and then I couldn't do anything after that.

Also, I'm planning on starting up my Winston-Salem St. closed legacy here soon. If I recall correctly, I was in my second year with a couple weeks of conference play left. I'm pretty sure I was undefeated in conference after returning most of my players and signing a good two or three star world recruit at PG that starts for me as a freshman. A lot of my production comes from three or four SG's that can all shoot from 3. I'll let you guys know how the season finishes up whenever I get around to finishing it.

So I started up my Winston-Salem St. career legacy last night and man I forgot how fun this game is. I didn't realize it, but I was 18-1 with a close win over Kansas early in the season, and my only loss was to Missouri St. Instead of playing an exhibition game or two to get back into the game I just went straight into my legacy and began a game with Norfolk St and what a game it was. We basically traded baskets almost the entire first half with me leading by two at half time. It was basically the same in the start of the second half with neither team being able to get any kind of advantage. Then about halfway through the second half I had all subs in and went on a big run, hitting a couple threes and getting a couple steals and ended up winning by 14. My star SG who averages just over 20 points a game had an off game, shooting 3-15 from the field and 2-10 from beyond the arc. He had plenty of open shots, he just couldn't hit anything. Luckily my other starting SG couldn't miss and had 20-some points and I had another SG off my bench, who I remember had been struggling for most of the season, go off for 19 in 9 mins (I play 15 min halves btw). Planning on playing a bunch these next couple days and hopefully finishing this season soon.
