Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I think I'm finally going to fire up my legacy again. I had been frustrated with CH 2K8 after experience with NBA 2K13-2K14, but I think I've gotten used to it again (and I tinkered with a couple speed settings as the game seemed to be moving too fast).

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Had about 12 days off work around Christmas and New Years so I started up a career. I chose Princeton so I don't have to play a conference tournament (I hate those) and I probably should have looked through rosters first...Princeton had NINE players on the entire roster. No PF's and 1 clumsy C. So it was interesting trying to play with a SF at center for most of the game. SG#4 was a freaking awesome 3 point shooter though. Offensive strategy was basically for him to shoot as many 3's as I could get him open for. Went 11-3 in the Ivy League, which doesn't seem like it would be good enough to win but everyone else had 5 losses. Finished 21-11 in the regular season against my severely dumbed down SOS, got a 14 seed. Got mugged horribly by Duke. On top of only having 9 players on the roster, 4 were seniors. Had 8 scholarships available, was able to sign 6 guys. 2-1 in season 2 so far, starting 4 FR and a JuCo JR I recruited. I have 10 players to use this year instead of 9 so now I can hockey sub.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I started with Princeton years ago. Yes, that senior shooting guard was great (Kyle Koncz or something like that is his name, IIRC). The roster is small, but it's a decent base to build around, IMO, especially once you pick up some low post players. Plus, the Ivy League isn't very good. I tied for first with Columbia in my first year with an 11-3 record, but missed out on the postseason since they had a better record than I did (I was 18-11 overall).

Took a break from my legacy, and now my old Xbox is acting dumb. Faulty disk tray...

Got a new one for Christmas, but it has a built-in hard drive, so I have to either switch or transfer. Mine is on hold for now.....

16 games in I'm 13-3 #2 with UNC. Next two games are against two unranked ACC teams loaded with young talent, Florida State and Duke. Duke handed me my second loss.

Can't wait to see what my next recruiting classes' ratings will be. I nabbed the #2 OVR (#2 SG), #5 OVR (#1 PG), and #22 OVR (#1 PF ) for the 2010-11 season. The class I pulled for this current season (#1 OVR #1 SF, #4 OVR #2 SF, #8 OVR, #1 SG) are 87, 87, and 82 ranked respectfully and that's when I'm not playing. In-game they add 3-4 points to their rating.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Started my first legacy with Western Illinois. I'm about 8 games in. 3-5 record.

              Lost to:
              Illinois
              Michigan St.
              Beat Missouri
              Wichita St. (Ot)
              Beat Bradley
              Beat #4 UCLA by 2

              Looking at 3 recruits, 2 2 stars & 3 star. I'll look for a 4 after the season.

12 - 9 with PVU of the Swac in year 3. The most wins for my team during my short tenure. Doing what I can to win games. I play all of my games btw. I do love it when my recruits actually start making a difference in my program.

I simmed a couple of games which was a mistake. I lost those 2 games & if your team doesn't have good unity good luck winning simed games.

On the plus side Western IL has 2 guys that shoot the 3 like crazy. A PF that I changed to C & he has improved on the inside shot & rebounding. I finally got the team where I know who can do what & most of the kids are freshmen, sophmores. Probably going to be stay here until the Bradley job opens up.

Used to be able to land them with ease in my old legacy with UCONN. Landed a few when I left to build Siena. Haven't had much success with this new legacy tho. It's best to got after them when they are juniors, which is hard because they are not all-am's. It's really just a crapshoot, unless you are in the top 5 intrested schools. But if your more than 10 interests points behind, forget about it. A- or better coaching OVR helps tremendously.

With 3 games left I'm 14-10 (9-5). The NEC like always is extremely tight this year. There is only a 2 game difference from 1st place to 6th, so anything can happen. I lose 5 key seniors this year so this may be my last chance in a while to make it to the big Dance

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Watching so many great games lately since conference play started in college bball got me itchin to bust 2k8 back out and fire up a new legacy. I did a closed legacy and took over at Southern Utah, I chose them bc I wanted a rebuild job since I don't have new rosters and they had 10...yea 10 available scholarships in year one.

I knew ahead of time I would sim the first season, recruit a new squad and then start playing so this was a perfect fit. During the sim season SUU went 3-25 and may have been the worst team in the nation but there was hope

We managed to fill all but one of our empty schollies and brought in 9 new faces. They ranged in rating from 48-66 but the top 8 in the rotation were upgrades from the previous year. We snagged 4 juco recuits, 3 of whom are day 1 starters and the other a 7 footer who comes off the bench. All of the high school recruits we landed were rated under 60 but they all have enough size and athleticism to contribute on our team. This years recruits were:

                          Juco:
                          3*Kian Gerlach PF 66OVR
                          3* Louis Stevenson SG 66OVR
2* Brandunn Barnhill 52 PG OVR
                          2*Vidal Ellis 54OVR C (7footerr)
                          High school:
                          2*Harlan Randall PF 55 OVer
2* Lanny Hargett SG 53 (best 3pt shooter on the team)
                          2* W.M. Henderson C 53 OVR (7ft)
2* Erek Collison 48 PG OVR
                          2*Acie Darren 48 PG OVR

We did have 3 guys come back who are our 2 other starters and 6th man, our starting 5 is :

                          PG- Barnhill 52 OVR
                          SG- Stevenson 66 OVR
                          SF- John Renfro 55 OVR
                          PF- Kian Gerlach 66 OVR
                          C- Cal Hanks 57 OVR
6th man Wade Collie SF 55 OVR

As you can see we are a work in progress lol

We started our season out against Montana at home. The Griz jumped on us early when Gerlach got in foul trouble but fr Lenny Hargett drill 5 3's to lead us back in the second half and get the win 64-58. Gerlach and Hargett lead the team in scoring with 20 and 17 respectively.

The second game of the season sent to Milwaukee to take on 1-1 UWM, we lead by double digits in the first half and early in the second half but foul trouble with Gerlach and Stevenson made us go a bit deeper in the bench than we may have liked and they made a big run to beat us 83-67 running away.

Next up is a trip to Provo to take on in state foe BYU(2-1). Through 2 games our leading scorers are PF Kian Gerlach (17.0ppg) SG Lenny Hargett (16.0ppg) and SG Louis Stevenson (9.0pp).

Thats when I try to find them, most of the time I've just fallen into them bc I put in the work with them when they were underclassmen and they happened to turn in AA.

Well for the THIRD year in a row, I lost in the first round of the NEC conf tournament. I think this team may be cursed lol this is the 2nd straight year I finished 2nd in the NEC and once again I lost in the first round!!!

I got offered the Ohio job but I decided to come back for at least one more year to try and get this squad to the Big Dance. If I don't make it this year, it may be time for a change

So I'm a little mad at myself for leaving Brown and going to Ball State. Brown is currently 20-2 (4-0) under Archie Miller (Dayton basketball coach). They are also ranked 19th in the country! The year I leave, they get a bunch of recognition and are dominating.

It's not all bad at Ball State though. We are 5-3 in conference and 3rd in the standings. The top 4 teams get byes in the first round of conference tournament so I'm happy with what is going on.

It's the classic dilemma of deciding when to leave or stay. I'm starting to wonder if I should have stayed for another year or two and dominated before moving up to mid-major/major.
