Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I'm in year 3 with my Georgetown Hoyas, and thus far I've had a lot of success.

2007-2008: 24-6 overall record, lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.

2008-2009: 23-8 overall record, lost to Uconn in the NCAA Championship game. It was crazy. I was up 2 in overtime with a few seconds left, then Jerome Dyson buried a buzzer-beating 3 in my face for the title. Talk about drama... wow. I couldn't believe it.

I ended up legitimately landing the #2 overall player in the recruiting process after my first season, who just so happened to be a center. I changed his name, number, birth place, skin color and face to emulate Greg Monroe. I also landed a 4-star point guard and 4-star power forward.

So far in 2009-2010 I'm 16-1 (ranked 2nd in the country) and undefeated against Big East competition.

    My current roster:

    C: Greg Monroe (SO)
    PF: Mamadou Shannon (SO)
    SF: DaJuan Summers (SR)
    SG: Austin Freeman (JR)
    PG: Marcus Brown (SO)
    ------------------------------------------------------
Off the bench I have Chris Wright (hell of a 6th man, huh?), a couple solid prospects I recruited (SG and PF, 69 and 65 overall with good potential), and a 7'1'' center I recruited with a 72 overall rating.

I took a long hiatus from this game after I got NBA 2k9 last year... not sure why... and now I rarely even play NBA 2k10. If I'm playing a game, it's this one. Two years later, it's still the most complete basketball game out there.

I decided to go back to the default roster and play with Alabama. I'm only 2-0 so far but I will keep you all updated.

I'm in my 6th season with Radford, finally made the NCAA Tournament last year after winning the regular season and conference tournament. We got stuck playing #2 seed Memphis, they smoked us 90-70. I've done a lot of simming to this point but I think I'm ready to start playing Coach Mode. We have two 6'10" centers that will probably start, one is a sophomore who is rated a 78 and the other is a freshman who came in as a 76. They are the two highest rated players in the conference.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I am in my second season at <ST1North Florida</ST1, first season I lost in the second round of the NIT. So my 2nd season I scheduled a completly puff line-up where my hardest opponent was <ST1South Florida</ST1, whom I beat. I lost to New Orleans</ST1 and Florida Atlantic.<O</O
          <O</O

I am sitting at 23-2, just dominating the boards because I recruited three centers during my first year, two are 3 star guys and the other's a 2 star coming off the bench.<O</O
          <O</O

UNF already had a solid veteran back court who are seniors now and are going to be tough to replace. I may have another slew of three star guys coming in, two PGs and a SF. The state of FLA</ST1 is easy to recruit.<O</O
          <O</O

I am looking around though. St. Bonaventure and <ST1North Texas</ST1 will be opening up. Hofstra may open up. Conference mate Jacksonville</ST1 will definitely be open and their arena is 3X the size of mine. If I want to stay in FLA</ST1 longterm, that would be a Gonzaga-like option.<O</O
          <O</O

Funny thing happened at Texas Tech. Bobby Knight retired and was replaced by <ST1Western Kentucky</ST1's Darren Horn. He's got the Raiders at 4-17 with no job security. Drama in Lubbock</ST1 indeed! I didn't know you could get S-canned after one year.<O</O

I'm starting one with Pacific (closed legacy) with edited rosters so that my team is a 40 minutes of hell type of team, but lacks rebounding. With the sliders I used (ratings based) I will get killed by the better half court teams or by any team when the press and/or 3 shooting isn't working.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I'm in a closed legacy with Central Arkansas, using default rosters since my legacy kept crashing with updated ones. So far I'm 8-9, 2-2 in conference play. I nearly upset Kentucky in the season opener, when it was tied with 3 minutes to go before went on a run and ended up winning by 8. I'm terribly inconsistent, especially since conference play started. I won the first 2 games easily, dominating on the boards and leading throughout. I lost the 3rd conference game by 15, and got absolutely killed on the boards.

Then I led TXAM-CC for most of the 4th conferance game, and thought I had it won after taking a 9 point lead with under 4 to play. My shooting went cold though, and I lost on a last second bank shot after I failed to rebound a missed three. I usually win when I can out rebound teams, and lose when I can't.

I just can't stick with a closed legacy, I've got to use the big boys in a power conference. The little guys simply can't keep my interest. I haven't touched my closed legacy (I'm at VCU) in about a month.

I just did the same, being from AR I got tired of playing only Cali teams. 1-0 right now with a lone win vs Binghamton.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Picked this game up for the second time about a year ago, I played it for a few months before putting it down, I picked it back up about a week ago and resumed my career legacy.

I started at Liberty(with the 08-09 rosters, including Seth Curry). Had pretty good success in 6 season there, I went to 4 NCAA tournaments(was never in line for an auto-bid) and 2 NITs. My second year I made it to the Sweet Sixteen, I made it to the second round my last year and made two first round exits. I was never able to recruit anybody above 3 stars there which was really limiting my team's potential.

I was waiting for an A10 job to open up, but the ones that came open were before I was established enough to get an offer, so after 6 years I settled on Tulsa in the CUSA.

My first year at Tulsa I simmed pretty much the whole thing. The team was bad and full of seniors and I was starting to get a little tired of the game after playing 6 full seasons. I went 10-20 or something like that, but snagged two 4* top 100 SGs, one was moved to PG.

My second season I played the games again, the two freshmen guards along with a 3* frosh SF carried me to a 22-5 record and a 5 seed in the NCAA tournament. I made a second round exit.

Another solid recruiting class came in, but none of them cracked the starting lineup in my 3rd season. I am currently finishing up the OOC games in this season, sitting at 5-1 right now, only loss was at #7 Duke. Team is only an 81 overall, but if the guards get hot from outside, I can beat anybody(and if they don't, I lose by 30 like I did to Duke, lol).

That's my long winded recap, I picked up two of the top 10 centers in the early signing period so I'm looking pretty good for the next couple of years at Tulsa. I'm actually not liking it as much as I liked being at Liberty, so I will probably consider leaving Tulsa a lot sooner if a job in the east opens up.

Never in my life have I played a sports game more than a year after it was released, this game is just too much fun to put down.

I'm with ya on this one. I started a closed legacy and only made it to game 10 before I totally lost interest. I'm currently wrapping up my 7th season with the Buckeyes and have only won 1 National Title so its still a major challenge.

You could always settle in between and run with LIU. Bring back the Charles Jones, Richie Parker, Michael Campbell days...

When I first started playing this game I had a similar problem with closed legacies in that they couldn't keep my interest. So, before I started one with Texas State, I created a 6'11, 85 ovr center and kept him off the active roster so I could choose TSU for my legacy. Chose them, went into the legacy and started playing with them and him. Made things fun and actually gave me a connection to the team.

Struggled through my first year and he's pretty much the reason I won the conf. tourney, and then he dominated my second year and pretty much willed us to the Sweet 16. He left for the Pros and I left for better times in Gonzaga.

Cheap? Yeah, probably a little bit. But it made the game fun for me then and I'm in year 4 with Gonzaga now making no other moves such as this.

My St. John's dynasty isn't a career legacy, but with the slider set and rosters I started with, I was very handicapped playing in the stacked Big East. I missed postseason play in my first season, made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAs in my 2nd season then the Sweet 16 in my 3rd season. At no point in the first three seasons was I ranked.

I then brought in a seven man recruiting class after my 3rd season. I got a 4* HS-SR point guard, 4* JuCo FR point guard, two 4* small forwards, two 4* power forwards and a 3* international center from New Zealand. I gave myself an easy schedule to break these kids in and we started the season 12-1 and finally were ranked at #24.

                                My first game as a
ranked team, we needed to hit a buzzer beater against a struggling Providence team to avoid the upset. Then this morning I took on rival Seton Hall and ended up losing by seven, saying good bye to that freshly acquire ranking.

I only had two scholarships available and locked up two great prospects that should make my team VERY dangerous next season. Here's the write-up I have on them:

Matera is a five-star prospect (rated by Rivals.com). He's the consensus #1 small forward prospect in the entire class and the 19th best overall. Not only is he the Mr. Basketball of Michigan, but he's a McDonald's All-American! His AAU stats for his Street Dreams team were 10.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 41% from deep. He looks to be yet another versatile forward with great size and length.

The other commit is not one to sleep on, either. Jeremiah Slaughter is a local product from Scranton, PA and wanted to stay close to home. Villanova and UConn were interested, but SJU and Coach Roberts won him over early and he never wavered on his decision. Slaughter is a 6'8", 222-pound small forward and is the #9 player at his position and #41 overall. He's not quite the shooter as Matera, but he's going to be lethal as a slasher as he shows great handle for a player his size and can finish at the rim with great finesse.

Needless to say, I am not tiring of this game AT ALL and have been playing it since the day I bought it!
