What has TMac won? Nothing! What has Kidd won? Nothing! What has Iverson won? Nothing! etc... etc...

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

OK answer this question. Say the Lakers didn't have Shaq. Put any other center in his place. Mutumbo, Robinson, Raliff, Wallace, Elden etc...

Would the Lakers be champs? Hell no. Shaq isn't the best player in the league, he's one of he most dominating players EVER. I'll say it again. EVER!!!!!!

Kobe is a great player but there's no way in hell that he wins anything without Shaq. Same goes for Phil jackson.

My list of not better players, but guys I'd want over Kobe if I was running a team.

    Kidd
    Shaq
    TMac
    Duncan

I think i was able to decipher your slang this time. So I'll say, Kobe had 56points in 3 quarters in a game last year so how can anyone be better than him?

Deuce, sure the Lakers MIGHT not have won without Shaq but that's not saying much, they wouldn't have won without Kobe either. You need two superstars.

If they had a decent SG in place of Kobe they win. Maybe not three in a row but they would get at least one. Put someone like Doug Christie or Kerry Kittles in there.

I agree about the Kobe. Though Phil Jackson has won 6 NBA Titles without Shaq, I don't know if you just started watching basketball, but he is one of, if not, the best coach ever.

Yes he had MJ, but Shaq and Kobe, before Phil, couldn't win [censored], same goes for MJ.

So Kobe had 56 in three quaters, big freakin deal he did it against the Grizzlies, and that was one game where he scored like that. David Robinson scored 71 in 4, I will never forget that, people can say what they want, but Admiral is great.

Though scoring points doesn't mean a thing.

If you put Kidd on the Lakers instead of Kobe, that team wouldn't of had to have the refs be cheap to beat the Kings, the Kings would have gotten one game on them, if that. Kidd would have Shaq averaging 42 ppg!

Kidd, McGrady, Carter, Ray Allen, Iverson would all win with Shaq on that team. I can name probably 42 other players that could win a title if Kobe wasn't on that team and everyone else was. If you want the list I will make it. Please, Kobe is good, but I am at the point of killing myself with all this [censored] I hear about how great he is.

That team should be 4-0, with or without O'Neal right now....if Kobe Bryant is 'the best in the game' even if he was the 4th best player. He isn't top 5, and I will continue to state that fact.

You have a good point. I do think Jackson is one of the best coaches in the league and one of the better in NBA history.

But, I think he is overrated. He did develop MJ to a certain degree. But, I can't say MJ wouldn't be who he was if not for Jackson.

Same goes for the Lakers now.

he may have the triple doubles. thats big for a team, stat-wise.

but on the floor, he's not a leader. not the kind of floor leader MJ was.

People who don't like the Lakers will never like the Lakers, period. The first game of the season Kobe jacks up 29 shots and he's a selfish player. He was 5-13 shooting last night, and he's a selfish player. But I think since he garners so much attention on these boards, you cough**haters**cough, I mean gamers most really be, to borrow an expression from Run-DMC, on His Jock.

well this has to be one of the worst argued topics i have ever read through on both sides. bottom line kobe is a great player. he can do it all. but everybody knows the lakers are kobe and shaq with a bunch of guys who can hit the occasional outside shot. take either one of them off of the team and they dont win 3 in a row. they might not even win one. so now kobe is playing without shaq and rick fox and he is bashed because they are not 4-0. are you kidding me? now i dont like the lakers as much as anybody. i am and old celtics fan from the eighties but i dont like them much anymore either. but i can admit that shaq is a great player. not just because of his size but because of his agililty and coordination. he is a freak of nature. and as far as making his team mates better and establishing tempo and getting assists or whatever i would say kobe is doing a good job considering he is a SHOOTING GUARD. anyway i think t-mac is a slight notch above kobe but we all saw what t-mac did without a legitimate second player last year.

"By your logic you must think that Magic Johnson was better than Michael Jordan."

Magic was and still is better than Michael Jordan. Jordan may be the better scorer, but Magic is the most complete player that ever played. He could dominate a game without scoring a single point, play all five positions, and even had a triple-double the other night in an exhibiton game with the Magic Johnson All-Stars. Magic could start in the NBA right now, while Jordan is on the Wizards' bench to sell tickets.
