I don't understand why we are comparing PG's to SG's. This doesn't make sense to me. If we are just looking at who is the better player (overall), there are more things to look at than just numbers. There are a lot of intangibles. Leadership qualities, making your teammates better, everything. I think that JKidd is one of the only players in the L that can help a team win and not even score a single point. I don't think Kobe can do that.

Don't get me wrong, I respect talent and I recognize it when I see it. I mean look at my name. But I think that JKidd is a much better, overall, talent than Kobe. Doh, now I'm comparing the 2. Look at what you guys did to me.

They're two totally seperate players. Both great, and both at the top of their games.

Great points, CheckMate. Although I wouldn't put too much weight on comparing this season's stats, only 5 games in...

I would certainly want Kobe to take the last shot over Kidd, but I still think Kidd's value is in how he makes his teammates better. Kobe is not quite there yet.

I'm talking about his decison-making so far over the entire course of his career. He's improved quite a lot in that aspect, but it has never been an issue with Kidd. That's all/

I'm not going to lie, kobe is a selfish bi$%H but I give him credit were credit is do. Right now his not getting any credit from me. Kobe has got to stop trying make triple-doubles and but some more *** **** points up. Now even though Allen Iverson is not a better shooter than Kobe he still knows when to put up 30 or 40 points a game. Without Shaq, Kobe needs help, but it looks like he isn't goin' to get so what he must do is be the team leader and start shooting some jumpers. And give his team some guidians so they may help him to WIN!

Okay, here's some more rebounding numbers, again manipulated to make a point.

Take the top 5 rebounders for each team, not including Kidd or Kobe:

Nets: 27 rpg
Lakers: 33 rpg

Now, total rpg for both teams.

Nets: 43 rpg
Lakers: 44 rpg

Meaning that the other guys have so many errant rebounds to pull down. Since we're talking about how many chances each player gets to get rebounds, I think this is one of the only ways to actually measure it. So, remaining rpg:

Nets: 16 rpg
Lakers: 11 rpg

That means, on average, Kidd has 5 more chances a game than Kobe to grab rebounds. This could be looked into a lot more in depth, mainly looking at playing time, but that would be too much. 5 more chances isn't a whole lot, considering there are 80-90 rebounds in a game, and considering other contributing factors. It certainly isn't enough to say Kidd gets more rebounds because he doesn't have anyone else to get them.

Here's a few other things:

Kidd averages more steals per game, about .7 more per game. He also commits less fouls in doing so, 1.1 less fouls.

Kidd also has a better assist per turnover ratio.

All Kobe really has on Kidd is he's a better scorer and a better clutch player. Kidd's got him licked nearly everywhere else.

i think it's obvious that kobe bryant is one of the best if not the best player in the league, of course this is my opinion, but the way he plays certainly can back up this statement.

everyone thinks that kobe only has a three rings cuz of shaq, i agree with this of course, but at the same time, shaq only has his three rings cuz of kobe.

shaq has the greatest dominance in the inside of the league right now, and kobe can break down almost any defender, drive to the hoop or stop for the pretty j. But they're are many other players dat can do this, iverson, tmac, and pierce.

But anyways, alot of people dont like kobe, many reasons dat dont make sense. People say he's cocky, i hate to say it, but he backs up everything he says. What's annoying is when you say stuff, but you cant back it up.
Kobe's game is all around. Everyone compares him to Jordan and t-mac and even magic. But kobe is playing straight out simple basketball at its highest level. He crashes the boards, he passes to open players, and he scores like a crazy maniac.
I respect kobe that much more, because he gets criticized each year, and he continues to play basketball. All that superstar status may have gotten to his head a little, but hey he gives 110% for every game.
Who would i want on my team? Jason Kidd would be nice to have of course, because he can make the whole team a hell of alot better, aka the nets. But when it comes down to it, I would take kobe without a doubt. Kobe can pass, maybe not as good as j-kidd but good enough of course, he can rebound jsut as good. Most importantly of all, when my team is down, i know who wil get the rock in his hands.
In conclusion, i can understand a little why people may hate on kobe, but dont go ragging on his skills or say he sucks, cuz its obvious he's doesnt. Stop saying that he cant carry a team either, for we havent seen him play a full season on a team without shaq. You never know what would happen.

When Kobe scores it seems like he is scoring to raise his stats, and he makes stupid passes to try to get assists. He has incredible stats this year but I think he's played like crap. He just wants to pad his stats.

Nobody is ever happy with him. If he touches the rock 15 times, he doesn't shoot enough and he's just trying to pad his stats. If he shoots it 47 time (DAMN!!) then he is forcing it and should pass the rock more. I just don't understand you people. All he is trying to do is win, in anyway that he can.
