The nba doesn't want a team game if it did just bring true zones without the 3 second illegal d like in international play. Even if that did happen coaches won't use the zones to much since these are professional shooters who do nothing but shoot in practice and it would negate the use of zones. With the vast difference in talent between nba shooters and college shooters, coaches won't use zones.

I agree with your points about the commercials though.
Then why could'nt my White Sox get any love since we're also in one of the biggest markets.
Not a serious question, we all know those 3 teams are pretty much the entire history of the league.
We had to win it all just for ppl to take notice.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

B) Dirk is saying the truth. If you deny it, fine. But the whole "sour grapes" bit it stupid.
Dirk really didn't say much here, but of course certian people want to say he's "whining". When Eddie Jones says stuff about Dallas, its no big deal. He's not bad-mouthing Dallas in any way. But when the "soft", or "overrated", or "trash-talker" Dirk says anything, its assumed to be whining and complaining.
Actually read the damn article. Read the questions he was asked. He was asked about how entertaining Kobe was for the fans and he repsonded to what he's use to.
Did he say that this is the wrong way to play?
Did he say Kobe/T-Mac should pass more?
Did he say Kobe didn't put on a show?
Did he say Euor basketball is better than American basketball?
No, no, no. All he did was compare something that he has known for 27 years of his life (or however long he has watched Euro basketball) to what the question was orginally asking.
Someone explain the harm in this? Please.
I agree with the first few posters though. Basketball is a "stars" league and that's why it has my interest. Most other sports are hidden behind helmets and its hard to market players as much as basketball can. I'm more than fine with the way the NBA markets the sport. I can understand some fans want it more team focused, but I enjoy seeing a spectacular highlight or a player having a montser game.Comment

Then we got the nerve to talk down on them when they demand more moeny or say something selfish. Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

I just wish more sports were like the NFL. Look at how frenzied the fans are on Sundays. Some ppl reject religion because it falls on a sunday. The way the NFL markets its teams and players just builds up a sort of connection with the team and the viewer. Its built so that no player is bigger than his team. I kinda respect that.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

I will say, the whole "team" thing has been pounded into my brain being part of a Patriots fan-base who has been brainwashed in a good way, and even the Sox during their WS run. Nothing but team first attitudes, it's rather humbling.Comment

Point is he should shut up. He has benefitted from the same thing he's complaining about and it all came out after Kobe burned his team to death.
Like I said, he can always go back to Europe.
With that, we already know what the NBA does. Insulting peoples intelligence because they choose to voice their own opinions. The NBA has become about money bottom line, and its not secret to anyone here. Dirk spouting out about it because Kobe took all of his teams attention wont change the fact.
Most people here probably wouldn't care to watch an 82 game euro ball season and that's okay. Give me the Pistons over any team in Europe anyday.
As far as that comment about the olympics, let a uncohesive bunch of euro players who havent played together get 2 weeks to practice then come and play against our best in the NBA rules setting and see how they fare.
I dont even want to hear it. Dirk is a softy and now a whiner since Steve Nash left especially (who by the way is just playing/winning games and keeping his mouth shut).
Maybe he needs to learn how to be a real leader instead of worrying about what the NBA does as far as marketing.Last edited by 23; 12-22-2005, 06:55 PM.Comment

Re: Dirk whining about Tmac and Kobe and american sports
Sounds just like someone whose team got lit for 62 by one man. I think the general message that everyone would say to Dirk is give all that american money back and play for a team in Europe. I think he'll start to rethink his decision after a whileFavorite Teams:
CFB: Ohio State Buckeyes
NFL: San Francisco 49ers
NBA: Los Angeles Lakers
MLB: San Francisco GiantsComment

Re: Dirk whining about Tmac and Kobe and american sports
I dont see how Dirk is whining. The guy was answering questions posed to him after that game. If Dirk had "sour grapes", then i doubt he would have been answering so many questions after a loss. anyway, i dont understand how Dirk answering questions like he did, can be called "whining".
but Dirk's team has the second best record in the league right now...so he doesnt have any reason to have sour grapes. Losing has been rare for Nowitzki this year.
the guy wasnt whining, he was giving his opinions on the questioned asked to him, and he didnt say he was right or wrong, just that it is the way he sees it right now. Actually, i learned somethin from Dirk's answers to those questions. A lor of you kids should try and take something from views that are different than yours. Open your minds and try and learn something from other people.Last edited by ZB9; 12-22-2005, 07:54 PM.Comment

As stated, he hardly said anything that's not true...and it's hardly a criticism anyway. Most of us here LAMENT the fact more team ball isn't played / featured.
Why should he go back to Europe simply for stating his opinion? If he went back and so did Manu...and so did all the other players born overseas...the league itself would be poorer. (At a time when it's never been weaker depth wise)
Some times you guys are just way, way too sensitive. I am not European, but I follow European football and have done for 30 years. I can tell you that there's a lot of overpaid prima donas in European football...Real Madrid being the current example. Does that mean a European should say to me "well, don't watch it then if you don't like it...?" Should I not have an opinion?
That's all Dirk has stated...an opinion. Just like he's also said 1000 GOOD things about the USA and the NBA.
Honestly...maybe I'm from a different culture / era to most of you...but crying over this and "he can go back" is so soft it's not even funny.
Whatever happened to taking whatever someone says on the chin, agreeing to disagree and buying them a beer...Comment
