Better yet Wilt was the reason those rule changes had to be made especially when you score 100 points in a game and average 50.4 points a game through an entire season.

Jordan capitalized in an era of more intense media coverage. The nba was at its biggest. People don't know or remember Oscar or Wilt the 2 G.O.A.T.
Bill Russel was still a dominant rebounder. You have to compare him to players in his era. Bill Russell was the player that define shot blocking as a defensive skill and is still considered the by many as the best shot blocker in the history of the game. Also Russell teams was able to be Wilt teams in big games. I don't think you will see someone like Russell ever again.

utah was at its peak with arguably 2nd best pg ever and top 5 pf of all time, with hornacek at 2.

beat an awesome phoenix team, which definitely had more overall talent -barkley in his prime, kj(awesome) thunder dan, ceballos(could score 20ppg in todays league)

portland team was great- with drexler, kersey, porter, etc duckworth would be considered a top center now.

also, la got beat 4-1. only won game 1 on a shot by perkins near end of game.
True. The bulls beat some really good teams. It just wasn't the Lakers, Pistons, 76ers, Celtics, and the Rockets of the early to mid 80's. I still find it amazing how the Lakers was able to take 5 titles in the 80's. The west was pretty much a cake walk while the East was loaded with good to great teams.

I'm also going to point out comparisons, in a sense that you really don't hear TRUE comparisons to Jordan. When you hear about kids coming out of HS or College, you draw realistic comparisons to guys like Duncan, Garnett, T-Mac, etc.

Rarely, if ever, do you hear or see scouting reports where under the headline "NBA Comparison" it says "Michael Jordan." Sure, some commentators have said Kobe and Vince could be the next Jordan back in the early stages of their careers. But all without explanation. Because of the simple fact that Michael Jordan dominated the league in such respectable fashion. The drive, the jumper, the clutch, the defense. It really is hard to draw those kinds of comparisons towards HS and College kids because (1)Michael Jordan was hands down, the COMPLETE PACKAGE and (2)Michael Jordan is simply put, ONE-OF-A-KIND.

he took a game that was traditionally ruled and dominated by big men. Kareem, Wilt, Russell and even Magic and Bird were 6'9. He at 6'6 210lbs took the game over at whatever time he need ed to. 6 shiny diamond encrusted gold rings.

MJ was far quicker and more athletic than anyone in the league when he broke in. If MJ's physical attributes aren't a factor Wilts shouldn't be either. Works both ways.

                I still say MJ though...

No it makes a difference in that the game was played above the rim when Jordan broke into the league. That was not the case in Wilts era. And since the rim is only 10' and has remained that way, were at the point of diminishing return where average height + athleticism is involved.

Bill Russell, Wilt and Oscar were great in their times. Jodan's game trascends time. If you are going to start an all NBA team through all times, the first player chosen would be Jordan. You can pick many different big men, to start your team with, you can take many different point guards. But, if you had the first pick from the pool of the greatest you start that team with Money (Jordan) No one can do what he did in his prime.

Okay, I know this is straight up a dead topic that's already been beaten but why was Greg Anthony hating so much on Michael Jordan? Somehow, he was discrediting Michael saying that he wouldn't be able to take control of games like he did. He even said that the Bulls team that won the 70+ wins wouldn't be able to do it now. Even said that the Pistons would be overall better than that bulls team. Honestly, is that for real? What do you people think of that on the real? It seems like so many of those kats that played against Mike and the Bulls and didn't win any championships always seem to have a nice little negative word against their campaign. Maybe it's because I watched those years or maybe it's because I'm from Chicago. I just don't think it's right. Am I the only one??

Bill Russell says hi with his 11 shiny diamond encrusted gold rings in 13 years, including eight in a row. Oh, and he also had a 50 rebound game in the finals against...who? That's right, Wilt. The guy averaged 22 rebounds per game and was only average in height. To make up for this he boxed-out and got great positioning. Sure, MJ had more points per game, but Russell always said his dream was to see an NBA team flowing, playing unselfish basketball. He always said it didn't matter how many points he scored. It only mattered that the team won. And if that meant racking up the assists, that was what he was going to do. And even despite this, he still averaged 15 ppg. Russell is GOAT.

The title of the thread should be What didn't MJ do? He did it all he became the best offensive and defensive player in the game.(period!) Not only that he had that killer instinct mentality which such few possess.

Greg's talking out his *ss because MJ punked him and the Knicks so many times.

Always ends up like that every season where one of them "almost" players wanna talk out their neck cause they have a mike near their mouth. It's even more irritating that he can't acknowledge greatness. Doesn't Michael, NOT HIM, give Carmelo (Greg's supposed nephew) advice after each one of his games? I mean, if Greg was so great, WTF?? That's dam ( in the river) near the ultimate disresepct. Hey, eventually those types will "die" off and more respecters of the game will drop on the scene.......
