I agree with DookieMowf. They get mad when people don't want to go play for the team, and then when someone is first in line to volunteer, they leave him off. Luke Ridnour? Why would they want to send him to the Olympics over Allen Iverson?

Last year they didnt have anybody that could shoot the ball, but now it looks like they want people who can only shoot the ball.

I can talk about this forever...but the bottom line is...AI should be on the team, and it feels like he didnt fit the image that was wanted. Silly.
Or he simply didn't fit the type of team they were trying to put together. A lot of people got on Herb Brooks in 1980 when he was putting together his olympic hockey team for the exact same types of things. He got players that fit the mold of what he wanted his team to do. We all know how that turned out.

While not having AI on the olympic team is curious, I can see why he might have been left off.

Still possible for players to be put on the team that didn't get invites, and vice versa.

Maybe AI didnt fit the mold of the team, but I dont see how Ridnour does fit. He can't guard his shadow.

to be fair, his shadow does have a sick crossover.

but either way, with all the ball-dominant players they did include on that list, i don't see why AI was left off.

Shaq is another guy that shouldn't have been left off either. He probably wouldn't have played that much, but from a chemistry standpoint, I'd much rather have him leading the team than Kobe. I guess it was either him or Kobe and not both of them on the team.

Maybe you don't see why. But I am pretty sure Coach K has a better idea of what he's trying to accomplish than you do.

I wish he would at least let people know why he take AI with him on this team since so many people question that move. It wasn't Coach K who said "dont put AI on the team", rather it was him who gave Colengelo an idea of what he wanted and it didnt work out. Who knows, it just know it has me upset.

Why? They haven't played a game yet? You don't know what they are going for. It looks to me that IVerson just didn't fill a role they were looking for.

Personally I find Iverson to be amongst the most overrated players in the last several decades, but that's just me.

If he wants in, all he has to do is say. Jerry will make room for him.

The only people who get mad are the fans. USA basketball can fill holes with others players very easily.

I have no clue why people have made this such a big deal.

Iverson is not a team player. He requires the ball in his hands 90% of the time. Team USA will have enough scorers. There's already a surplus of talent at the guard position. We need a passer not a scorer. What else do ya want?

Luke Ridnour over Iverson, are you kidding me?

He doesn't require the ball in his hands IMO. He's a natural point guard that has an uncanny talent to score the basketball as well. Whenever in the ASG or the Olympics, hes always passed the ball around and gets everyone involved. Not to mention, he's one of the league's best one on one AND team defender's in the league. The same can't be said for a lot of guards on this team, Ridnour included.

Heck, Kirk Hinrich should be on the team before Ridnour.
