Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
Yup, Bowen gets away with the same stuff Rodman used to take heat from. Can't figure out how the Spurs don't get the same bad rep the Bad Boys used to get with the stuff they pull (Bowen, Ginobilli, etc.).
You might say it's because Duncan's on the the team and his rep covers for them, but Duncan's also got a rep for whining. And the Bad Boys did have Dumars on the team, one of the classiest guys who ever played in the NBA, but they still got railed for doing the things SA does, albeit to a little more extent.Comment

LOL, that's true. But Cleveland's shortcomings come within the game with full personnel on the court/field.Comment

Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
I think Horry will get fined but not suspended. Amare was already checking into the game, but Diaw I could see getting the suspension. The only thing that really stops ALL the players getting suspended(cause some Spurs are guilty as well) will be the fact that a "FIGHT" never actually broke out. I believe the rule states(and I maybe wrong) that if a player leaves the bench area during a fight, they get suspended.

Cleveland just had the bad luck of having two good teams in the same era as Michael Jordan and John Elway.:wink:Comment

Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
If I was a Spurs fan I would have no problem saying that. My responses are actually very neutral. Bowen is dirty, Horry had a hard foul should be ejected because it was a hard foul, Amare and Diaw stepped on the court, suspension.
I have no rooting interest in the NBA, but yes i am rooting for the Spurs in this series, like i'm rooting for Cleveland in their series, Bulls in theirs and the Jazz in theirs. I just find it necessary to post when people like you, among others, make some of most ridiculous claims and act like the Spurs are the only team who flop, whine, etc.
Oh, and by the way, there is already rumors going around that Horry hit Nash purposely in order to try to get some of the Suns players off the bench for potential suspensions. That in itself is a dirty and cheap tactic and just shows that the Spurs will go to any lengths to win a series. The Spurs are the team that should pay the penalty.
Furthermore, even if they are suspended, I wouldn't be surprised if Phoenix won Game 5 anyway.Comment

I hope when Shaq retires he gets a gig with TNT. I enjoyed seeing him on there tonight, it's been good.Comment

I agree with Charles, it's a stupid rule that a player isn't allowed to walk on the court during a fight. It's a natural reaction to go in there and defend your guys. Once someone is on the court and they do something to actually warrant a suspension, that's when action should be taken.Comment

I've not once even mentioned whining or flopping. Read my posts again. However, now that you bring it up, every team has a few floppers. SA just has a few more.

Re: ***Official 2007 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread***
actually, the rule states:
• Any player who throws a punch now immediately ejected from the game, suspended for at least one game, and fined an appropriate dollar amount. Any player throwing a punch that connects with another player will be ejected from the game, suspended for a minimum of one to five games, and fined an appropriate dollar amount. Teams will also be fined an amount equal to the total sum of their players’ fines. Any player leaving the bench area during a fight will be fined $2,500, up from $500, and that player’s team will be fined $5,000 for each of its players who leave the bench area."
Furthermore, another rule states:
"During an altercation, all players not taking part in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of the bench. Violators will be suspended without pay for a minimum of one game and fined up to $20,000.''
They were both still in the immediate vicinity of the bench, the rule is NOT clear cut.
I believe it is at Stern's and Stu's discretion.Comment
