Nothing wrong with that. But he picked a wrong time to do so after he and his team went belly-up and did get beaten by the better team.

They got beat by the team that PLAYED better. They are not the better team. Top to bottom, the Pistons have the better players. Which means nothing in the big picture... but THAT is what he said.

Seriously, Clay. I'm sick of this "The better team always wins".

No, the better team doesn't ALWAYS win. The team who's PLAYING better during a particular seven game stretch wins.

That's probably the worst cliche in all of sports.

Let me guess, this somehow leads back to the Suns and Spurs series, right?

Having the most talented players together does not equal the best team. The Pistons had 6 games to prove that they were the better team and they didn't. If it was just a three game series or something like that then there might be something to it but when you have so many games to get it right, you even have a 2 game lead on them, and you fail to win then the cliche is right.

              You were fooled, Chauncey.

If you said that once or twice the Pistons let overconfidence bite them...I could buy that. The Cavs literally outplayed this team 6 straight games. The b-b-b-b-but we're still better card is lame, delusional, and pretty pathetic. Based on the names Wallace, McDyess and Webber...Your bigs would have been dominant 5 years ago, but outside of Maxiel your entire frontline is old and slow, and none of your perimeter players are built to take over games. Face it. I love Prince and Rip, and those guys are rock solid building blocks for the future, but right now, without a tiny guard to take advantage of on the PnR switch, you guys had nothing. Just admit it. The better team does not get "outplayed" 6 times in a row, home and away.

Like it's been said, the Pistons reign was respectable, but you are not, and have never been in the San Antonio or even the PHX class...just the best of a weak East...and now you don't even have that.

Ah well...dream on. Maybe we'll see their A game next year, lol.

edit: And Matrix...you can whine all you want. Your "better" team will never beat San Antonio in 7. Period. Euroball will never win out. Never. Get it? NEVER.

Frankly, I think it's bull**** that you guys even led that back to the Suns/Spurs when I had no intention of that.

I can only shake my head, man. That is disgusting.

EDIT: Psy is right. Pistons not in PHX class? Uh, what are you talking about?

Disgusting? It's not like you haven't been whining about the series since it ended. Anyway, I was just joking but the rest of my post still stands.

Just like the Spurs will handle the Cavs....and Timmy will have 4 rings.

I have to admit I was pulling for Detriot since they are my favorite team besides the Raptors. But Detriot deserved to loose. I think it's just a shame that Clevland (namely Lebron) coasted through the season. There wouldn't be such a thick line of love and doubt for this team if they played hard (for atleast) most of the season.

The guy plays more minutes than anyone in the nba, plus he was on the US National team. I don't blame him for coasting through parts of the season, if he actually did.

177-69 in the West > 171-75 in the East over the last 3 seasons, IMO.

Det has matched up pretty well head to head (4-2), but considering the Suns have had a huge ammount of turnover and missed Amare for an entire season in that span, you can make a case that PHX being better over the last 3. Saying DET isn't in the same class may be overboard on my part, but I honestly think DET would be a 4-seed in the West.

                              Rings: Detroit 1, Phoenix 0.

That's all that matters when it comes to THAT part of the debate. The regular season, as if this hasn't been mentioned enough in this forum, is MEANINGLESS.
