This is where I bring up Luke Longley having more rings than Chawles, or where I break out the beaten-to-death fact that rings don't always determine good/bad...but I won't.

...since those numbers I posted were from the LAST 3 SEASONS...in which time, much like the Suns, the Pistons have...zero rings. When you guys won it all, the 23-win PHX Suns had Steph at the point. Nash's Suns have won more games than your Pistons, in a much tougher conference. Does that make them better? Debatable. I say yes.

Once again, the regular season is irrelevant. And over the past three years the Pistons and Suns have done pretty much the same thing: not much. Although the Pistons did push the Spurs further than the Suns have been able to, which again, doesn't really mean anything.

And actually, the rings argument doesn't hold much weight when it comes to comparing TEAMS. The Pistons have a title, the Suns don't. Pretty straight forward.

I don't even understand why this is a discussion, though.

If the Pistons had to play San Antonio in 2004, they'd be titleless. I don't know how the Lakers beat them. And Phoenix has to play these guys before the finals.

So just because the Pistons have a title and Phoenix doesn't, it all comes down to SA in the end.

Again, the teams I am comparing, the Nash Suns...vs. the Pistons in the same period...have NO RINGS. NONE. ZILCH. NADA. NEIN.

Thats pretty straight forward, bro. You asked if I was joking about calling the PHX suns a better team, and I'm explaining why I believe that to be so. Since Nash's arrival, the PHX Suns have been better, IMO, than your Pistons, and I don't see why I can't use the three 82 game seasons these teams played as any kind of measuring stick. I know this is the playoff thread, and I don't mean to get too far off topic, but should every opinion be based strictly on the playoffs or titles? Thats like saying we can't talk about KG's season because he didn't make the post season.

The hypothetical warrior strikes again. "If" you could show me where you get those crystal balls, I'd be more (or less) inclined to take your posts seriously (though it's hard to take them any less seriously).

In the end, it all comes down to rings, period.

No I am not talking about ridiculous arguments like Luc Longley having more rings than Reggie Miller and stupid stuff like that. I am talking about which team, got it together, and won the games that count the most.
            PS: You guys are great.

                Wow. Pistons fans are angry.

Well, I understand. But I know I'm happy. C-Webb didn't get his ring. Butt clown half-assed it with my Sixers...he gets to Detroit and all of a sudden, he wants to play. Fool.

What a long delay for the Finals. The last game was on Saturday and Game 1 is on Thursday. The 9pm Eastern start time can't be good for folks that have to get up early the next day.

Before the season, I predicted the Cavs would make it to the Finals and lose. There's no reason for me to change this prediction.

I'm picking the Spurs in 5.

I think most of the games won't even be close. There's no chance in hell the the Spurs will lose 4 times in a 7 game series especially when they have home court advantage.

In a 7 game series its rare that you see the inferior team win the series.

If you said that once or twice the Pistons let overconfidence bite them...I could buy that. The Cavs literally outplayed this team 6 straight games. The b-b-b-b-but we're still better card is lame, delusional, and pretty pathetic. Based on the names Wallace, McDyess and Webber...Your bigs would have been dominant 5 years ago, but outside of Maxiel your entire frontline is old and slow, and none of your perimeter players are built to take over games. Face it. I love Prince and Rip, and those guys are rock solid building blocks for the future, but right now, without a tiny guard to take advantage of on the PnR switch, you guys had nothing. Just admit it. The better team does not get "outplayed" 6 times in a row, home and away.

Like it's been said, the Pistons reign was respectable, but you are not, and have never been in the San Antonio or even the PHX class...just the best of a weak East...and now you don't even have that.

Ah well...dream on. Maybe we'll see their A game next year, lol.

edit: And Matrix...you can whine all you want. Your "better" team will never beat San Antonio in 7. Period. Euroball will never win out. Never. Get it? NEVER.
Give this team some time to get better. I realize Nash isn't getting any younger and he really drives this team, but this is the first year this team is playing with Amare coming back from a microfracture sugery (which takes at least a year to recover from). Each year the Suns have pretty much been a brand new team whereas the nucleus for a team like San Antonio or Detroit has been around for some time. I'm not saying Phoenix was the better team, but I think the series was pretty close and the Suns will probably play them better than any other team can (including Dallas who doesn't have to face a rejuvenated and determined injury free Duncan and who would probably have a better game plan to shut down Dirk after the GSW series).

This is why I'm happy in this series. People discount the Cavaliers, and don't think they can "hang" with the Spurs. Because we came out of the East, we aren't "as good" as the Spurs. Let your guard down Spurs... I'm not saying that I will guarantee a win, but I think it will at least go to 6 games.. if not 7.

I can see the Cavs taking control of home court... and stealing one at San Antonio.

It's the same thing people did with the Pistons when they won their ring. Everybody was talking about how it was going to be a sweep and how the Pistons didn't stand a chance.
