So Piston fans do you think this is the breakout game for Billups? I know he's been struggling with his shot and TO's. I havent seen him in a slump like this for a while. Could mean the difference in 3-1 or 2-2.

    Webber needs to stay confident.

Doesn't it get redundant time and time again, trying to prove your point to someone who isn't listening, or who has their own viewpoint? Let it go, the game is over... look forward to the next one.

EVERY team flops... it happens. If the refs call it, then they get rewarded... if they don't call it... fans of that team will be upset that a foul wasn't called. It's the nature of the beast.
Amen, the refs can't win either way. NBA officials have the hardest offciating job in sports because so much depends on judgement calls, and its such a fast paced, intense atomsphere the refs are almost always at the mercy of their vantagepoint when making a call. Just a thought, does anyone ever remember saying wow the refs did a great job tonight?

If Lebron can get a W tonight w.o Hughes hopefully it will make all these idiotic analysts and critics shut up.

I certainly do. Happens pretty frequently, people just ignore it because it doesn't spark controversy.

            Webber needs to stay confident.

Chauncey Billups is struggling because his main two options he relies on to score most of his points have been restricted. He can't really get it going on those Pick & Roll plays near the sideline because the Cavaliers are trapping him each and every time. And he can't post up often one-on-one against another guard because the Cavs are sending a second guy over once he turns into the lane and makes a move, forcing him to turn toward the baseline and put up a low-percentage turnaround fadeaway jumper.

Anyway, I'm surprised the Pistons aren't able to take advantage of the P&R trapping the Cavs are doing so far because this is kind of easy to counter when there is a big man on the team with the passing ability Chris Webber has. Billups should get the ball to Webber near the free throw line and then allow Webber to make the quick assist to the open man.

Billups should also be able to put his head down and get into the lane from time to time, and find bigs to make dump-off passes to inside.

Dammit, now that Psy has closed the other thread, I'll have to turn to this one for my up-to-the-second Daniel Gibson news.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The same complainers who are belly-aching about the officiating last night are saying the same things Spurs fans used to say about the Lakers in 2001-2003. Replace Ginobilli with Fisher in terms of flopping and you may as well just read the forums from six or seven years ago.

It's reality. The refs are going to screw your team until you're good enough to play through it. The best teams can overcome this hurdle. The poorer ones can't.

We could go back even further than '01 to talk about bad officiating. Jordan would get mugged by the Pistons without getting any calls in the early 90s. The Bulls would eventually play through it and Jordan would get the benefit of the doubt. All of Utah remembers Jordan's blatant offensive foul on poor Bryon Russell for the game-winning hoop in '97. Pushed him right out of the way before sinking the jumper. Ridiculous that Jordan made it impossible for the guy to have any chance at defending the shot. But he got the call.

Jazz fans will eventually get their day. It's only a matter of time. The same things may one day be said five years from now when Blazer fans complain about how Deron Williams is such a puss for getting away with flopping and how Oden can't get any calls against Boozer.

Once again, we'll have a chance to rewind and press play.
I agree with all of that. I'm just wondering why this is the case because it's really killing the NBA IMO.

because the one about Deron williams was about his rising PG status, while the one about Gibson was about his performance in one of the games of which this thread is dedicated for those types of topics.

I jus realized the Spurs shot 40%...on the road...against a Jazz team who shot 47%...the Spurs shot 20 more freethrows then the Jazz...8 on 5 at its finest but on to Cavs Detroit...i could care less about the Spurs and Jazz

According to Rachel Nichols, Hughes is going to play.

Also, Flopping is the new Gilbert Arenas...overblown, overrated, and completely overstated based on e-hype. Awhil eback Gil hit a few gamewinners, and suddenly people were saying he was one of the best players in the league. Any hot player and/or subject gets beaten to death, and it's getting a little ridiculous.

There were just under 140 shot attempts in that Jazz game. If there were say, 5 clear flops...does that really determine the outcome of the game? What about the other 135 shots? Lol. It kills me when people look at stupid little non-factors as reasons to "proclaim" they don't like the sport.

Trust me, if you let a handfull of exxaggerations kill your love for b-ball...you didn't love it in the first place. S'cool... You can put "Come Fly with Me" in the old DVD player, and watch it a couple hundred times for your b-ball fix.

Is Come Fly With Me on DVD? I have it in VHS I also have NBA Superstars 1 and 2 on DVD. I really would rather watch those than today's game. I've tried to get back in to the NBA during the playoffs. Just can't do it. While I do think the game is more entertaining than it was a few years ago, it's still a snoozefest. The constant flopping and begging for calls ala European Soccer doesn't help either. I watched the 87 Finals today on TV. There are no rivalries like the Laker Celtics. Their just isn't that same excitement as there was then. At least imo.

Oh well, I gave it an honest shot this year.
