He does NOT have 3 other all stars on his team, and does not need a HOF coach to "make the playoffs." He made the playoffs with Rudy Tamnomovich(sp?) and almost no one on his team, and now that he has ONE other star (and a pretty fine team overall) and Phil Jackson he has a .700 winning percentage, so, that's a lot more successful than "just making the playoffs" which he's done fine the past couple of years in the league.

For the thread, I'd have to go with LeBron or Kobe. LeBron can't make freethrows and Kobe is believed to be a pretty bad teammate at times, so to me it's pretty even.

Dude, they didn't make the playoffs that year. They fired Rudy T and let my fav lakers coach Frank Hamblen take over until the end of the season.

I think he resigned because he got sick again.

Wow Dre.. come on now. If he wasn't really sick how come he isn't coaching again?

Or why would they need to lie about it? I really doubt their dream scenario was Hamblen taking over mid-season

My bad, my memory failed me I guess, but I'm pretty sure they still had a pretty fine winning record. Wow, it's actually weird cuz I don't remember them missing the playoffs, guess my memory isn't that great...

Re: Who is the most complete player in the NBA?

Here is one writers opinion on the debate:

You can argue all day long who is the best player in the NBA today, but when you stop getting overly excited by dunks, threes and no-look passes and remember the game is played at both ends of the floor, the discussion starts and stops at Bryant. He has the same mind-set on defense that he has on offense, playing the entire game with a "no one can stop me and I can stop anyone" mentality.

In comparing players, we often feel we have to find fault in one of them to boost the other, but in this case, we don't have to. Kobe is the best player in the NBA, not because James, who is second best, has any glaring weaknesses, but because Bryant is just that good at every facet of the game.

Now I'm not saying this guy's opinion is the absolute truth and he knows everything there is to know about the sport.

I just stumbled upon this, and felt it was fitting.

From the report after the game in NJ where LA lost and Magic called a meeting with Rudy T ending with him leaving the room angry, next thing we know he's stepping down to take a job scouting for the Lakers instead of coaching.

Seems that wasn't proven in their matchups and hasn't been shown statistically individually the past couple of seasons either.

I could post an article that shows some semblance of fact that backs up the writers opinion on why LeBron should get it, but this guy is as bias as the next.

Do we know if Rudy got his money? I don't see how it would benefit an organization by not being truthful about that specific situation.

In the end whether or not he was forced out it doesn't really matter. Rudy seems like a great guy but I was never too excited about him coaching that Laker team. I'm glad Phil decided he wanted more money.. errrr.. wanted to get more rings. I hope he beats out Red.

Apparently except shooting threes. He's pretty much dead last in percentage for those who have shot at least 100 threes. 30%. Yikes.
