Could be. I wouldn't be surprised. He's going to have to prove he won't be a ball stopper.

Also, it's tough for me to think of a contending or even playoff team that would really "need" him. Even if one of those teams suffered an injury.

Maybe Utah, NO's, or Miami??

I'd like him in any of those 3 locations honestly. Although I see NO or Miami as more likely destinations than Utah.

Utah and Miami are the ones that came to mind for me of the likely playoff teams, though Ronnie Brewer is a better match with Deron than AI would be... but yeah, both teams could use a scorer off the bench pretty badly. I don't think any of the competing teams would use AI as a starter unless someone goes down with an injury. This smaller contract makes it both more and less likely that he's traded -- he doesn't have that expiring value where someone might roll the dice on him and just take the savings if it doesn't work out, yet he's able to be traded for someone who isn't a quarter of the player he is since he'll be making between $3 and $5 mil... so if there's an injury, it would be much easier for a team to replace the production lost by their starter.

AI won't have great "expiring value", but the fact still remains that if he were to get traded to another team, if things didn't work out then he'd just become a free agent. No biggie.

Utah hasn't had another "creator" in a while. Deron is basically the only guy who can create offense for himself and others. I know it'd be hard to imagine AI in Salt Lake but to me it would be a fine match. It's clear Utah has a solid squad but they definitely need to add something to put them over the top. I realize there's certain "assumptions" about the team and city but I'm choosing to ignore them LOL.

I believe Miami may make another push for AI IF they are contending out East. If they're way below .500 I'm sure they won't have any interest in AI.

NO's needs any sort of help that's why I listed them, and with AI's probably low contract/1 year deal I believe they could afford him... if their guards aren't producing.

Most talented squad in Griz history, if Hubie Brown was coaching I would guarantee a playoff run

From an on-court standpoint I see where you're coming from. Just don't know how he'd mesh w/ Sloan, and the community at large.

I see this happening too if the above scenario works out. This is the perfect fit for him IMO considering EVERYTHING.

AI's an instant upgrade to NO's guards minus Paul (MoPete, AD, Devin Brown). He'd definitely help out in Nawlins....they'd probably be the most talented team he's EVER played for if he did go there.

Huh? Why wouldn't he go to the only team that showed a bit of interest in him?

Stumble's right, he needs a place where there's extremely low expectations so he can repair his basketball "image". He had better display a willingness to get teammates involved and not mess up the flow of the offense.

If he does a halfway decent job I'm sure he can land on his feet next year with a REAL team.

Haha awesome. This is gonna be a weird little experiment but I hope it works out at least where the Grizz win more than they did last season (or no longer have the worst offense in the league) and are fun to watch.

Heh, all 4 of them were in the Top 75 in possessions used last year. I hope this rag-tag band of misfits manages to knock off some contenders throughout the season though... seeing them get hot and down the Celtics or the Lakers would be great (they certainly have the potential to be a crazy offensive team when they all shoot well, sharing the ball or not).
