Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Portland,SA,and LA will be top dogs out west maybe even the Hornets now with that trade.
Okafor
West
?
?
Paul
all they need is a decent wing player.
Spurs,Celtics,Magic,Lakers,Cavs,and Portland.
I don't see them beating any of those teams in a series.Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
I will take Denver over Portland everyday all day and especially in the playoffs. The Blazers have yet to even come close to winning a playoff series. Denver has far more playoff experience and Portland doesn't have a player on thier roster that would stand a chance from stopping Melo from going off for at least 30 a game.Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
I'm still trying to figure out how Denver isn't a contender or how someone will automatically discount them from even the West Final.
With the Boozer [not really wanting to be there] thing in Utah
NO's still has no depth, don't know how Oak is going to fit in
I see Portland, Denver at the very least on even ground. I give the edge to Denver in any series.
Dallas is the wildcard.. we'll see if Kidd can play like he did last year.
Everyone else I see as having no chance at the West Final.
I peg Denver as #3 overall, I don't see them beating LA in a series but I can see them beating any other West team in a series.Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Yeah, I'm with you on that Ex. I'd pencil them in as the #3 behind LA and SA. Portland will be serious if Oden can contribute, and I do worry about them stealing the division due to having an easier schedule. I'd put the two teams basically on the same level on paper -- Portland is deeper right now (Denver only has 11 players under contract), but Denver's starting lineup is better (especially with JR in the mix). If Denver makes a decent pickup to replace Kleiza, I'd put them back on top of the division.
Utah will be a mess this year I think -- too much flux to handle. They might miss the playoffs depending on how the other divisions go -- don't think the NW will get 3 teams into the playoffs again this year. I'm not worried about them at all.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Thread got jacked we might as well make a "too early west prediction" thread.
I just don't know about Portland. They simply don't have a third wheel.
DEN has Billups/Melo/Nene with throw ins like JR/KMart
POR has Miller/Roy/Aldridge with throw ins like Outlaw/Oden
I just don't see POR winning too many series' without a third fiddle.Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Kidd is not the issue for Dallas because everyone knows Kidd will play like the same Kidd he's been playing for years. Their issue is the injuries because IF they can be the team chosen to be healthy for a season, I'd probably put them ahead of Denver at this point.
Anyway, put me in the boat that thinks they're probably 3rd-4th(most likely 4th) in the West as of right now and don't see them getting to the WCF again this year.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Sorry, Kidd's age is a factor to be considered. You can't just assume that he'll be at the same level as he was in the past few years. There's going to be a year where it goes downhill fast. Hopefully this isn't the year.
Getting another horse in Marion [hopefully he'll be a horse and not a donkey] and getting Howard back will definitely help Kidd out even with another year of age.
Edit: The original question was: is DEN a contender? Cebby and NBA Champ say no.
I see LA/SA/DEN as being the contenders out West.
Since I really like LA/SA, I would have to agree that DEN at this point is on the outside looking in. DEN is not far behind however.Last edited by ex carrabba fan; 08-11-2009, 11:55 AM.Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
Kidd's age was supposed to be an issue for how many years now? I'm not saying that it isn't(well in a way I am)but not as big as you're making it out to be.
As for Denver being a contender, I'd say they're not as well. To this day I still don't trust George Karl as much as Stumble and probably you do because I think he's still prone to make that one big **** up in a big game like he has done in the past.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
I hate George Karl man. Dude finally nutted up and implemented some defensive gameplanning LAST YEAR (his 4th season). I don't trust that walrus **** as far as I can throw him, and he predictably got sonned by Phil in the LA series. I'll never forgive him for starting Anthony Carter with AI... that was the ****ing stupidest lineup in the history of mankind.
That said, Denver is still the best team in the West aside from LAL and possibly SA (Ginobili healthy puts them over the top), and I'd put them in the contenders group if Orlando is in it. In my mind it's LAL/SAS/BOS/CLE and everyone else, with DEN, ORL, POR, DAL in a fairly close group a tier below that.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: The Allen Iverson Saga
I see Portland much deeper than Denver.
Martell Webster comes back
Batum,Bayless,Oden, and Fernandez gets a year under they're belts.
Pryzabilla and Steve Blake
Not too mention the addition of A.Miller who gives Billups problems.Comment

Orlando > Denver.
It's
LAL/SAS/BOS/CLE/ORL
How can CLE be in there and not Orlando when Orlando got better?Comment
