    Lamar Odom re-signs with Lakers

Lakers owner Jerry Buss, who improved on his offer of $8 million a season to Odom, is getting frustrated and is thinking about pulling the deal off the table soon.

Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak talked at halftime of a game between the Lakers and Clippers on Monday in Las Vegas at the summer league, saying that the talks with Odom left him "not as hopeful as I was on Friday."

When asked why, Kupchak said, "Just a feeling you get."

"Right now, I'm not sure we're on the same page."

I know you guys hate Twitter, but some LA writer has said that the Lakers have withdrawn their offer (Bad news on Odom front: Lakers take deal off the table - http://twitter.com/ramonashelburne & http://www.insidesocal.com/lakers/20...the-table.html).

    From the same person:
The Lakers were also frustrated that LO's agent began negotiating with other teams, including Dallas and Miami

The Lakers grew frustrated that after raising their offer to $9 million a season, they had yet to get a response from LO's agent
Sounds like trouble in LA. LO was a key part in both Laker runs these past two years. If they somehow lose him, LA would be dealt a solid blow imo.

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not lol. Got a headache and can't sleep. Just noticed the mistake in the title of the thread, bah.

A Lakers rep confirmed they have pulled their offers from Odom.

LAS VEGAS - Time for Plan B.

The Lakers' pursuit of unrestricted free agent Lamar Odom has ground to a halt, team spokesman John Black confirmed Tuesday night.

After raising their offer to Odom to either $30 million for three seasons or $36 million for four years - his choice - the Lakers have pulled their offer from the table after the versatile forward declined each.

Jerry Buss, the Lakers' team owner, raised the ante, granting Odom's wish to be paid an average of $10 million per season. Odom made $11.4 million last season, the final year in a six-year, $65 million deal he signed in 2003 with the Miami Heat.

In addition, Buss is believed to be miffed that Odom's agent has started negotiations with the Dallas

Mavericks and the Miami Heat, neither of whom can offer the versatile forward more than the mid-level exception ($5.8 million for next season).
Dallas owner Mark Cuban told a reporter from NBA-TV that he spoke with agent Jeff Schwartz on Monday. There also have been persistent rumors that the Heat is interested in Odom. The Heat dealt Odom to the Lakers in 2004.

Efforts to reach Schwartz were unsuccessful.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, reached at home, declined comment Tuesday except to say, "There's nothing new to add." Later, Black also declined to comment except to confirm the Lakers have pulled the offer to Odom.

Kupchak returned to Los Angeles on Tuesday after attending the Lakers' summer league game

Monday against the Clippers. Kupchak acknowledged Monday he had reached an impasse, saying, "Right now, I'm not sure we're on the same page."
When asked Monday if he was at the point of throwing up his hands in frustration over the lack of progress in the talks, Kupchak said simply, "Perhaps."

Meanwhile, Odom's options are limited if he attempts to land a deal with another team. Only the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder have sufficient room under the salary cap to sign Odom to the sort of deal he has demanded from the Lakers.

So far, neither the Trail Blazers nor the Thunder have shown interest in signing Odom. The Blazers signed restricted free agent Paul Millsap, but the Utah Jazz has the right to match the offer and retain the services of the forward.

There are indications the Jazz will match the Blazers' offer, which could mean Portland could turn its attention to courting Odom.

The Thunder have been quiet since free agency began July 1.

                      HAHAHAHA!

Lakeshow has the worst luck, man.

Seriously though, I meant it as a joke, not really as sarcasm. It was a riff on Matrix's "what a shame" comment, knowing how much he hates the Lakers. It's also kind of a joke on how the Lakers fans and haters alike will make a big deal out of this when the starting lineup is still gonna be: Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Gasol, Bynum.

Obviously the Lakers are even better with Odom, but I wouldn't put them in the lottery just yet.

Does anyone else think Odom is a fool for not taking either of these deals?

I don't get him and Ariza playing hardball when they could have easily re-signed for a good chuck of change and potentially won multiple titles.

The only team that can give him that money is Portland. So we shall see if Utah matches for Millsap.

LA actually granted him 10 million per year which would make their payroll the largest in the league. Odom rejected it because LA would only give him 3 years instead of 5.

He is a very versatile player and he is quite valuable to the Lakers. Hopefully he realizes that this marriage between him and the Lakers is something special.
