    Re: The Lamar Odom Saga

Even if Miami gives him 5 years it still makes little sense.

Miami 5 years for a total of about $33 mill

LAL 3 years for $30 mill

SMH. Odumb you slow. Your agent isn't to blame, it's you.. cokehead.

Trev is slow as well.. they both have never struck me as being remotely intelligent.

Well he'll get big minutes there, he'll be playing in a place that he loves, if they put together that roster it will be a hot FA destination (Caron Butler anyone?), and he can still sit on the beach and eat candy. When you've made as much money as him, long-term security is more important... especially with the shrinking salary cap.

Sounds like fun to me... I hope they keep Beasley though... especially if Haslem is being moved in this deal.

You don't think he'll get big minutes for LA?

Odumb has a chance to go down in the history books. LA has a chance to do big things in the next 3 years. He has a chance to create a legacy for himself and in the process, get paid a lot of money.

His best bud just came to town.

He's playing with one of the top 3 players in the world.

He's playing under one of the top 2 coaches in the world.

He loves the LA lifestyle I'm sure as much as the Miami lifestyle, so that's a wash.

        An extra two years? Please.

Less minutes than he'd get with Miami by far. Especially if Bynum is healthy all season. Artest will play a lot more than Ariza did.

I'm not saying it's the best decision in the world, but clearly the security of a 5 year deal is more important to him than the extra money that the Lakers were offering over 3 or 4. He might be bluffing and just seeing what else the Lakers offer, but it seems serious as far as I can tell.

No clue... but I hope he goes to Miami because I want the Lakers to lose their most versatile piece.

SMH, I wasn't sure if that was official, but if that's true then all I can do is wave bye. This guy doesn't want to sign for more money to stay with a team that has a chance to do something pretty big?

              Odumb FTL.

He'd get plenty of minutes in LA as the 6th man, especially knowing that someone's bound to get injured. His role would be huge.

I'm sorry but if anyone takes 5 years 33 million over 4 years 36 million you deserve to be called every bad name in the book, assuming you aren't going to a team that will hurt your career. Especially considering that what's important for you is the money/security and that one team is LA and the other is Miami.

You take the extra 3 mill, no questions asked. Don't give me BS that you'd get one more year. LMAO.

As I said before in the other thread, if he left I wish it was to Portland. I don't understand Millsap to Portland instead of Lamar to Portland. Oh well.

As far as the state taxes thing.. so can anyone estimate how much that would save him in the end?

I don't understand this. How is Ariza dumb for wanting to step out and take a chance to make a name for himself with an organization that actually WANTED him?? He is going to start and get a chance to have more of an impact on a team. That doesn't sound dumb to me. But what reallly doesn't add up to me is that you was rooting for Gortat to do the same thing in the other thread and felt bad that Orlando is matching the deal. Isn't Orlando a far better team than Dallas??

I dont know off hand but I do know Florida has no state tax just like Florida

If his living conditions are similar to here, he gets to keep a little more money along with more stability, and a place he had fun playing he might want to go there.

Then again the way the summer has been, I think there are behind the scenes reasoning to some of these changes, alot of them for money and other reasons people arent disclosing.

First of all, are you implying LA didn't want him?

Strictly my gut instinct, but from every interview/press conference I've seen/heard after Trev signed with HOU, IMO it seemed like he knew he made a mistake. Especially in a radio interview out here in LA right after he signed, his voice and answers suggested as such.

If he could do it all over again, and he had the choice to pick between HOU and LA knowing that both teams were offering the same deals, IMO he would stay home.

As far as calling him slow, that's all I meant by it. He doesn't seem like the brightest guy, which obviously is probably a common thing in pro sports.

Me assuming that he regrets his decision is where me calling him dumb comes into play.

Yeah people have been wondering if he and Kobe don't get along. Who knows. IMO the money/security argument makes no sense. The only thing I could think of is if he has beef or wants to be a full time starter.
