Maybe we can sign Raymond Felton with Lamar's money, since he is determined to make less than what the Lakers are offering.

Yes I do...it's made of tin foil.

That Odom situation doesn't make sense. Its less than a mill under what you want, and very few teams want to commit over 3 years. Thats the best you're going to get bruh...not to mention its a championship team in a great market that just signed your childhood buddy. Sign the deal already.

was the merge necessary? considering the link was also about Boozer to Miami....

the nba forum isnt super active right now so it's not like we have to keep new threads in check...

Kinda. Just like the AI thread.

Anyway so Miami only has the MLE. SMH at how that makes any sense.

                Re: The Lamar Odom Saga

I don't know what the hell Odom's agent is doing. All of the people who might have paid Odom as much as LA have already made deals. If he goes to Miami or Portland, he makes less money, has to move, is playing with less of his friends, is playing with a coach he's unfamiliar with, and has less of a chance to win a championship.

All because you want more than three years? Really? Does he anticipate having that much of a problem getting a new contract when he's 32?

Especially considering there is a reasonable chance that he may have more rings at that point. Hmm....

So assuming the Heat can make that work, then that still leaves Beasley on the bench??? If they aren't going to play him, then might as well just deal him for a 5. If Boozer is healthy, you can't argue with his production, but seeing as he's always beat up then I'm not sure why the Heat deal the expiring contract for him. Frankly, dealing for Tyson Chandler makes more sense.

                      Chandler + Beasley > Blount + Boozer

I read a good point about the shrinking cap somewheres.

It basically said that all teams are still going to overpay for their stars. Franchise players won't lose a penny because they're so important to a teams economy. It's the 2nd teir guys who will really be priced out of the league...and a 32 year old Odom will probably be in that group. We're already seeing it when solid vets like Andre Miller, David Lee, and AI can't even get MLE offers.

The makeup of teams going forward are going to be:

                        1-2 obscenely paid uberstars
                        2-3 drafted prospects
                        6-10 cheap roleplayers
1 or 2 overpaid elite specialists to plug holes. An elite 3pt specialist, a top rebounder, a great perimeter defender, ETC.

Alot of guys just under All-Star level are either going to take huge paycuts, go to Europe, or watch from home. Odom is smart to get his money now...but at some point he'd got to take whats on the table cuz its only going to get worse.

                          Re: The Lamar Odom Saga

That would all make sense, except for the fact that you're talking about a guy who made over 14 million last year. He'd be due to get 30 million out of LA over the next three. Everyone involved knows that no one is going to pay him 45 million over five years.

As far as "getting his money now" goes, that would be signing with LA, who have the heftiest deal on the table.

And while the economy has affected a lot of teams, several of them are just holding out for Wade, Bosh, Joe Johnson, Amar'e, etc. next year. If his goal is to get his money now, he has no better option than LA.

iirc, LO made 11.4 mill last year. It's listed at 14 because of his trade kicker from the Shaq trade. Not as bad as going from 14 to 9.

Thing is, Lakers don't have that many options left to them if he leaves. Barring trades, the Lakers don't have the bi-annual or mid-range left. Without LO, the Lakers bench will be a lot weaker (also without Ariza), and will be hard-pressed to hide Bynum's defiencies.

so are ya'll ready to give credit to the grizzlies for messing up the rosters of the Lakers (Gasol max contract,Lakers get older with artest, possibly losing L.O.) Suns (both shaq trades in reaction to Gasol) and the Blazers (Miles signing, less caproom to sign a star). Jazz (we had plenty of caproom but we suck so he decided to opt in)

Haha, that's awesome. Props to the Grizz.

And yeah, it's looking like Miami because they offered him 5 years.

                                Chalmers/PG acquired for Beasley
                                Wade
                                Odom

                                O'Neal

Good lord. Might be some injury problems with that frontcourt (which is why I'd hold onto Beasley and just run with Chalmers, who is nice... or get AI ha), but still.. yeesh. They're going big trying to keep Wade around.
