Losing your second (possibly third) best player and a great mismatch maker and signing a 10 minute a game player to a 35 million dollar contract is getting better.

I see people are still overvaluing Turkey Glue.

There's a difference between rating Turky in the context of the league and the context of the Magic.

In the league, he was a good but not great player. On the Magic, he was a great player and huge to their success.

However, I completely forgot about Vince, so yeah, Orlando did get solidly better.

the lakers were also a lock with payton, kobe, malone, shaq then detriot beat them with teamwork and defense!

nothings a lock there will be some injuries and what not and other teams have gotten better like spurs, cavs, magics.

on paper they will be nice on nba2k or nba live but its not always a lock especially with headcase artest.

Re: Lamar Odom re-signs with Lakers

People are forgetting that the Magic won many playoff games this year where Turk contributed nothing. They are also getting Jameer Nelson back, so they've upgraded at two starting positions as far as the playoffs are concerned. Bass also gives them a flexible rotation and makes them an incredibly tough rebounding team.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if they beat a completely healthy Celtics. The main issue is the Cavs. That's where the mismatches really worked in their favor, but since Vince is such a high quality scorer, I think they'll find ways to put the ball in the bucket with him, Jameer, Pietrus, Howard and Lewis.

My fault man. Misunderstood your previous post there because I thought you were saying they got worse AFTER they got Vince lol.

They won 2 games in the final 3 rounds that Turk didn't have a combined 30 between points, assists, and rebounds.

Nah, that's on me. I completely forgot about Vince. I was only thinking that they lost Turk and got Bass and resigned Gortat.

                  Let me rephrase that then.

They won plenty of games where Turkoglu didn't score a lot of points, or was very inefficient in getting the few points that he did score. People's reasoning for them getting worse is that he's this huge matchup problem. While he does provide obvious mismatches, it's not like he was doing it to the tune of 20 per, or even 18 per, on good percentages. Certainly not to the point where replacing him with Vince Carter is a negative.

Turkoglu shot less than 40% against the Cavs, which is the matchup most people are looking at when mourning the loss of Hedo. Between acquiring Vince, getting Nelson back to form and an improved Dwight Howard, the Magic should have no trouble scoring. With Bass, Howard and Gortat, they should also remain a very good rebounding team, especially since there is barely a rebound's difference between what Turk does and what Vince does.

Bass is not a consistent rebounder...although neither was Hedo

Not really surprised by this. Kobe probably convinced him.

Hedo's ability to create for Howard and Lewis off the PnR, and draw cheap fouls against West trying to scrap to defend a guy 7 inches taller was much bigger than his FG%. By a large margin.

                            Carter possesses the same ability.

it's going to be very hard to stop the lakers this year. Good decision by odom. Why wouldn't you want to play for the arguably best team and with arguably best player in the league. No body hates winning

btw, Ron Artest is one of the most overrated players in the league right now. Im not so sure that he is a better defender, or even overall player, than Ariza

I honestly dont understand what the big deal is about Artest.
