EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure. -

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?
mitch says "we're not on the same page", but mitch's page is "win a championship and then don't pay the players who helped you do it". the lakers are being cheap. it's like saying to odom, "we know you want some security (5 years), and thanks for the championship and all, but we aren't going to give you that security". odom has been a class act for the lakers and has done everything they asked of him, not making a peep when they sent him to the bench, being played erratic minutes at times, and he never said a word. now that he wants to get paid for helping to win a championship and being an integral part of that, both with his attitude and playing skill, the lakers are basically saying tough sh*t, we're not giving you 5 years. it's not right, and kupchak handled the ariza situation similarly. he thinks just because they won a championship he's going to be able to pay everyone peanuts to come back and do it again. yet they are the lakers and can afford to compensate their players for getting them the chip in the first place
and i'm sure odom wants to come back and win plenty of more championships. but at the same time he's not going to be disrespected for all that hard work he has been, and still is putting in for his organization. you have to meet halfway and the lakers will refuse to do that. it's called loyalty, and the lakers have none
oh, and 5 years at $9m from portland, odom is as good as goneLast edited by fluent2332; 07-15-2009, 03:54 PM.Comment

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?
Jesus, if the Blazers get Odom at SF, their lineup is gigantic and downright scary. Who cares who is at PG with Roy, LMA, Odom, Oden/Pryz on the floor 30+ MPG? Ugh, I'd rather have him stay on the Lakers... don't want Portland giving my Nugs any more of a divisional race than they had last year.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?
Yeah, my only concern would be that Portland's grind-it-out slow-paced style would lower his worth to them. But still, they'd be hurting the NBA Champs pretty badly, shoring up their SF spot (allowing them to trade someone like Outlaw for a PG), making an already-good rebounding team ridiculous, increasing their versatility and depth... seems like a good idea to me as long as they think they can afford to re-sign LMA and Roy. With Paul Allen at the helm, I wouldn't worry too much about that. Salary cap for next year will probably be down another 5% or so near $51-52 mil, so it's not like they'd possibly be under the cap anyway.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Make a contendor and the money comes. Especially with the rate people bandwagon teams that win. The Blazers have a chance to be a really special team and they should do what they can to make it happen, not picking up Milsap to hurt Utah thoughComment

Odom to the Thunder would be more fitting.Comment

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?
Lamar leaving has already hurt the Lakers. But they got artest...Which is an upgrade IMO. I look at it like they traded for Artest for Odom straight up. Odom is a good basketball player and he could help us. I just dont like the guy. If we somehow got him...I would probably start liking him. But I do not believe he is the right fit.

Re: Lamar Odom Contract Negotiations Stall?
The Thunder? LOL no way man. This would definitely allow less ball handling time for Roy and preserve some of his energy during games as well as be another option. If they got him and traded noone, they essentially added Odom and Webster and still have Outlaw in the mix as well. Im certain someone would get traded later but thats pretty stacked at the G/F spotLast edited by ProjectRipCity; 07-15-2009, 04:38 PM.Comment
