Yes 1st ballot but Stephon Marbury isn't even close to being borderline Hall of Famer

Agreed.

I've gone from a huge Iverson fan...to one who is bitterly dissapointed by him. His legacy now is that he'll be remembered as a whiney little.....who came to represent everything that was bad about the NBA during his era. Selfish / me first / "too good to do whatever the team needs".

I thought for years that all he needed to do was get out of Philly...that he could be a great second guy on a championship team...that he would happlily play ANY role to try and get a championship ring.

All wrong.

He cared about himself and pretty much nothing else. That will be his legacy.

He dropped so low even the worst ever Knicks team didn't want him for the min. salary. That says it all.

A real dissapointment.

It's sad.

This is a unique, legendary player, who will not be remembered, viewed, or treated as one.

We'll see another MJ, Shaq, Kobe Lebron, etc.. before we see someone who played at the level Iverson did, at his size.

Im soooo mad the Knicks passed on him. Like seriously who the **** wants to watch the Knicks right now, im a lifelong Knicks fan and u gotta pay me to watch a game right now.

I was real excited when they said the Knicks were going to sign him. There was no reason not too. 1 yr deal for minimum, there was no risk involved!!

Having AI on the team would of put people in the seats, more people would watch. There would actually be excitement surrounding a team that has absolutely none, and is putting all their chips into the Lebron Pot.
Nobody is going to want to play for a team that went 10-72 the year before.
Dude avg 26 ppg 2 years ago for goodness sake.

I know I'm in the minority in this, but I have no problem with the way he went out.

Sometimes it's a pain to see legendary players come off the bench and play a reduced role. I don't think the starting was the issue as much as he wanted to be a main contributor to the winning.

Is it selfish? Somewhat, but at the end of the day, it's his life and career and his life and career alone.

I do think if the right team (Lakers, Nuggets, Celtics) comes callling, he will return.

Sure i'm sad he went out the way he did and I agree that it did tarnish his legacy but i'll just leave it at thanks for the memories AI. Probably the greatest 6'0 or under player of all time and an absolutely amazing sight to behold when he was on his game:

I don't think the starting was the issue as much as he wanted to be a main contributor to the winning.

His legacy though is the thing that's been destroyed by all this. it's not just the way he went out, but the way all the teams he left improved as soon as he left.

For me, the most damming thing has been the Nuggets not wanting him back now. I saw their management interviewed and they were basically saying "hey, if we had major injuries...we'd consider Allen"...which was polite speak for "no way...we like the fact our guys have all matured without him holding them back".

Iverson dominated teams on and off the court...and towards the end, it was all negative.

The fact not one single championship calibre team has rung him the past few weeks and said "hey, how'd you like to be our spark plug on the way to winning a title" kind of says it all. He's now known league wide as a cancer.

It's sad, but he brought it on himself.

Personally, I had hoped he'd go to San Antonio and join a legit group of guys who play as a team and leave their egos at the door...back up Parker and Manu, defer to Timmy in the post...and still get 15 ppg and go out the right way under coach Pop.
