Wade just might have an inflated sense of how important basketball is...
That was already retracted and Wade said he was misquoted, though he did issue an apology.

Heard a report last week that ESPN wanted to schedule Heat-Cavs on Christmas Day but that Stern turned it down due to the "negativity" that would overshadow the game itself. Of course he wants Lakers-Heat on Christmas, which is what we'll probably get anyway but was he saying the samething when they scheduled these 2 on Christmas the year Shaq was traded to Miami?

In fairness, don't think that Shaq needed police keeping an eye out for his house after his departure.

I know what you're saying here, but those guys were FAR from just support players. I believe Worthy and Perkins if they aren't in the HOF, their jerseys have been retired. But as far as Mchale, Parrish, Kareem, and Pippen, all hall of famers, all on the list of 50 greatest all-time players.

With the exception of Kareem how many of them can seriously have their success tied to who they played with? As in they would have been fine players on any other team, but HOF locks?

I think Mchale and Parrish still would have been HOF'ers without Larry. The Lakers may not have won as many championships or maybe any with Magic, but I still think Kareem as you mentioned would be one, and Perkins and Worthy, I'm on the fence about. Depends on who the PG was instead of Magic.

Pippen played two seasons in his prime without Jordan and finished first team All NBA and 3rd and 7th in MVP voting.

Worthy was the #1 pick of the draft and played fine without Magic and Kareem.

Both would have been in regardless.

I also missed the last few pages but read that article on Yahoo sports. Loved the fact that D-Rose wasn't trying to be a homer and recruit him. He said it best when he said that if LeBron wanted to play there he could of reached out to him. Classic. God I love Derrick Rose.

When did Pip play two seasons without Jordan? As for Worthy he played three more seasons after Magic retired and was no where near the player he was when on the Lakers though that could be more attributed to injuries than anything. It's hard extremely hard to say with any certainty and not consider yourself biased to a certain side that both of them would have been HOF locks regardless of playing with who they played with.

If you switch Worthy with Dominique, Worthy probably doesn't sniff the HOF or Top 50.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

It wasn't exactly two full years, but close enough. It was the year and 3/4 Jordan was striking out in the minor leagues that Pip was on his own.

                                ONE
Michael Jordan retired before the 1993–94 NBA season, and in his absence Pippen emerged from Jordan's shadow. That year, he earned All-Star Game MVP honors and led the Bulls in scoring, assists, and the entire league in steals, averaging 22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, 1.9 three-pointers, and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field and a career-best 32% from the three-point line. For his efforts, he earned the first of three straight All-NBA First Team nods, and he finished third in the MVP voting. The Bulls finished the season with 55 wins, only two fewer than the year before.
                                TWO
Worthy was the unanimous number 1 pick when he came out and was a fantastic scorer. If anything his offense suffered by being on such a stacked team and not being the number 1 (or 2) scoring option. By the time Magic wasn't around Worthy wasn't anything like his prime and was losing the speed and athleticism that made him the player he was.

With that being said every player owes their success to others in basketball so that whole discussion is 'unwinnable' from either side.
