I've was always under the assumption that bringing in any type of max $$ player would result in Deng and/or Hinrich being moved because of their contracts. Would that still be the case if they were to get Lebron?

Again no names involved in this story, just a source with knowledge of the Bulls front office.
This is like the 4th article today I have read on the whole LBJ/Cal mess and not one of the articles has a valid named source.

Yup, Jake. And we've got another 2-3 months of this nonsense. Rumors, rumors and more rumors.

No the Bulls made their deals during the season to have the ability to sign one max player and one of the lower tier free agents. Had they been able to swing Hinrich deal they would have had the space to sign two max level guys outright. However the Bulls are still in play for two guys for max level deals via sign and trade. Which is why a sign and trade would be fantastic for them with Cleveland if they could get it. They would save the money that would be spent on LeBron and use that to outright sign Bosh provided he does indeed leave Toronto. Bottomline, signing one max guy is doable for the Bulls without moving Deng or Hinrich, but signing two is out without a S&T.

S&T sounds easy in theory but you also NEED a team to WANT to take them and that's why I've never really been a fan of em.

Apparently the Cavs have no interest in a S&T for LBJ. If Prince James walks, it's as a UFA.

Trust me, a lot of teams don't wanna lose their free agents for nothing.

If Chicago, NYK etc, really want these guys, they will let go of young players and picks that they deem valuable.

Houston or Chicago, if they know they can get Bosh are not gonna be stingy with their young players. They will go.

Yeah, they're a pain. But if you reach an agreement with a player like a LeBron you can get him to put the team over a barrel. He can say, "hey I'm going to go with this team, rather than lose me for nothing you can sign and trade and get something for it." So at that point you have a choice, do it and just take whatever you can get for him or not do it and take your chances trying to lure a free agent to your team that can wind up being someone of lesser value than you could have gotten in the S&T.

That is stupid...At worst get a trade exception out of it. Those are very useful for bringing in another player via trade who has a big salary.

Cleveland and Toronto (and LBJ and Bosh of course) are in different situations. Cleveland said they won't S&T LeBron, doing so would be admitting defeat (their logic, not mine).

Which is why a team like a Chicago or Jersey is also better for LeBron as they can afford to lose draft picks for a year or two cause they already have young talent and aren't in desperate need of those picks to improve.

Everybody says everything tough beforehand. When it's July 1st and LeBron is declaring he's leaving and they're tasked with trying to actually attract someone to that mess of a team that'll be there without him....yeah, we'll see where they stand.

But LBJ doesn't have to agree to it either. He owes nothing to Cleveland. Bosh is doing a favor to the Raptors. Nothing says that LBJ has to or will do the same favor for Cleveland. Granted he'd get more money and a longer deal via a S&T.

LeBron can simply walk and do as he pleases (as can Bosh). Let's say he knows where he wants to sign as a UFA. He can simply sign on the dotted line and he's off. Or he can sit around for weeks, months, etc while Cleveland and UFA try to work out a S&T.

You're right he can just walk, but this scenarios is if he wants to go to the Bulls. If he wants to go to the Bulls and we all know they can't get a second guy without a sign and trade, why wouldn't he consider doing that? It would help insure the Bulls of the best possible deal as a sign and trade for Bosh would most likely mean Noah has to go in the deal. James likes Noah and I'm sure he'd want to play with him. So why would he just walk and not help the team he'd be walking to?

Trust me when I say this: after going 12-70 we CANNOT afford to lose/give up ANY draft picks. We're going to need ALL the help we can get if we want to turn this thing around.
