Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

Since the 99-00 season the Knicks have made the playoffs three times. They made it to the ECF once in the 99-00 season and lost 4-2, then lost in the first round the next two times they made it. The following year 3-2 and again in the 03-04 season getting swept in the first round. Clippers East is a fairly accurate description of the last decade considering they have two more playoff appearances and the Clippers were a win away from the WCF in their one appearance.

I was born in 71, right after the Browns era of championship dominance. I've wathced the Browns be really strong, but have some spectacular meltdown take place before they win it all. Ditto with the Tribe, and now the same song with the Cavs. At this point I'm completely numb to the thought of Bron leaving. I'm sure it will hurt to see him win chips for another city, like CC one year, Cliff Lee the next, but at this point I just wanna know the soldiers we gotta roll with.

Sorry dude. I really don't want to rail on the Knicks like we have in the last few posts but P2K brought that about with his hating and trying to paint the Knicks as this mystical, all-time great franchise when they've got one more division win than the Bulls, only two more conference title wins than the Bulls and about four less championships.

I'm honestly still trying to figure out why it's okay to eliminate the Bulls' most successful point as a franchise and not any other team's. Also why it's okay for other teams like the Knicks, Celtics and Lakers to have points in between superstars where they're down for 10-15 years or so, but the Bulls have their down point after Jordan and the franchise is suddenly nothing. If we really wanna play the coulda woulda games, the Bulls were a coin toss away from getting Magic Johnson. Where would the Lakers have been in the 80's without Magic? If they didn't get Shaq, would they have gone longer in the ditch? The Celtics only just recently became relevant again after the Bird years, but that's okay because...? Considering the Bulls have only been around as a franchise for 44 years now and at the time of their last championship 32, I'd say it's pretty big for a franchise to have the third most championships in league history regardless of how many different eras it took to get there.

Not sure if you have a grasp of the definition of "complete failure".

So it's okay to just discount the entire franchise and treat it like the Jordan era didn't happen? Why not do that with every team? You take away the Duncan era and what exactly are the Spurs after the Iceman era? You take away Dr J and what exactly are the Sixers before and after they're three or four years with Wilt? So he can GTFO here with that ridiculous hating just to hate bs.
You're "iffing" history that actually happened and happened for a reason.

I just don't think the Bulls have that certain "something" to go back to another Jordan era. I'm not a soothsayer. LeBron may sign with Chicago. But past history gives doubt. And that was more recent to the Jordan era.

Or are you referring to the part where they drafted another top NBA point guard which is playing at all star level?

Bulls have had 5 seasons of at least .500. Yes the first years were a disaster but that is expected when you lose your HC and almost the entire roster from the previous year.

I didn't mean complete failure, but I did quote it so I stand corrected. But the Bulls haven't been anything to be proud of, either.

You mean because the previous class skipped on them? The class of T-Mac and Duncan? The Bulls had nothing other than cap space. They weren't winning before and they had nothing to win with to entice anyone. Plus they had Krause. He's now gone.

Yes the Bulls won because of Jordan. But the Lakers won because of Kobe. Shaq. Magic. I just don't see the argument there.

No one is saying the Bulls will go back to a Jordan like era. That's not what this discussion is even about. You mentioned the Bulls aren't getting anyone other than Boozer or JJ. You made no argument why other than saying Chicago was nothing before MJ and is nothing after him.

                        True.

That will be changing here shortly, I would wager.

Okay. But this doesn't make your team more prestigious or visible than the Knicks.

But it doesn't make them any less because of the past. Same goes for NY and whoever else. No free agent is going to care what the Knicks or Bulls did in the 80's.

New York is the bigger market but Chicago is not small either. We're talking about the bigger cities in the US here among a couple others. The fact that the Bulls have Rose, Noah, Deng, Gibson and almost the ability to sign two max agents has to give them a heads up against other teams. Does that mean that LBJ and Bosh are locked to come here? No.

But we're not talking about LBJ going to LAL are we? I've already stated that LAL and Boston are and probably always will be the two most prestigious teams in the league.
