I don't think there's a single person on this board who can explain how or why Dolan believes Lebron will earn at least 30% more in NYC, or why a championship would be worth 60mil more than in Cleveland. Nor can you give a detailed rebuttal of that reasoning.

I can absolutely tell you why Dolan believes Lebron will earn more in New York.

Dolan owns the basketball team in New York.

The country is in the worst economic state it's been in most of our lifetimes. The same kind of tried and trusted people were making bad investments and misjudging markets to get the place like that in the first place, let's not act like it's a perfect science to this.

Um, no. Not even close. Just because you're in finance doesn't mean you're one of the jackasses on Wall Street/in big banking that's cheating, screwing over their employees and giving themselves golden parachutes. I can assure you that no Wall Street CEO's were consulted for that research.

In the end, why does it really matter to US how much HE(Lebron)can make in a lifetime? Because all that'll really matter to US is how many Championships did he win for YOUR team.

Never understood why people have such an infatuation with that...

We're infatuated with whatever the player is infatuated with if it's a factor in his decision making. If LeBron says he wants to be a billionaire and one team is trying to persuade him with info that suggests he's more likely to achieve that goal here rather than elsewhere...well they're doing their due diligence.

As far as people around the internet proclaiming that they have more knowledge than the business specialists who come up with these figures...that's a mystery. I don't know how anyone who doesn't work at Interbrand, or any consulting firm for that matter, can refute the claims they've made. One party is the specialist in this particular field, the other party is some dude on the internet. Kind of an uneven fight.

And while I agree with King_Mack that it's not a perfect science, the economy isn't solely in this position because of people misjudging markets. Greed has to factor in there too. I'm sure banks knew when they were issuing mortgages with ridiculous interest rates to people who couldn't afford them, they just didn't really give a ****.

Which is really what all the Knicks fans in this thread have said. That the people who know about this stuff have mixed feelings. It's the non Knicks fans who have tried to act like they know that New York won't make him more money.

The Knicks could sign LeBron and Bosh/Amare and still wouldn't make the playoffs in the East IMO

So the Knicks could get arguably the best player in the league and a top 5 PF and not make the playoffs? What? lol

The same guy who took the Cavs to the finals with Eric Snow at point couldn't get the Knicks to the playoffs with Bosh/Amare?
