Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I mean of course that's going to be a big deal there now because it's the NFL Offseason and that there's practically nothing to talk about AT ALL during this time of the year. But you think anybody would pay that story any mind if it happened DURING the season? That's the point I was trying to make.#RespectTheCultureComment

The #1 sport league in the US is the NFL and the #2 is NCAA football.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I wouldn't say it won't ever again top it considering people like seeing big hits and the league is eventually going to be pressured into changing that. Even if it truly will never be the top sport again, it's not because of this reason.
As for Haynesworth being the only one, come on Pack, there are plenty of guys in the NFL that get monster deals every year, granted not in the fashion that this thing has gone but that's the nature of the beast when one player truly can change things in a sport.Comment

If this happened DURING the season, at WORST it gets mentioned for like 30 seconds and then folks move on to discuss the upcoming game. This whole "Lebron is a FA in 2010 OMG!!!!!11111!!" thing has been one of, if not THE top story in the NBA the last 2-3 years before, DURING, and after the season. Even during the Finals, Lebron would sometimes overshadow that. You think what Haynesworth is doing now would EVER overshadow the Super Bowl or even the Playoffs for that matter, if he were to pull this same mess during the season? That's what I'm trying to say.
I'll end it at that since I wasn't really trying to take this thread OT or anything.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Okay, I get what you're saying now. You have a point to a certain extent, but as I said, the NBA is a league and sport really where one player truly can completely change a franchise, not so much the same for the NFL. Though the whole Brett Favre thing is kinda they're never ending LeBron thing that overshadows everything because we have to keep hearing about it every single NFL day before, during and after the season.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I wouldn't say never. And also, free agency is not the reason why football is more popular than basketball. I can't put my finger on it BUT the NFL has it's own free agent drama. Maybe not to the extent of LeBron BUT King brought a good example of Haynsworth. BUT I'll tell you this, the Brett Farve saga was damn near close!I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I'd say never.
Haynesworth's issue is more selfishness/stupidity on HIS part moreso than anything and that's not even close to what Lebron(or any other big time FA)has done the last few years.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
That's the thing though, they haven't really done anything. They basically did what's normal. They declined the option in their contracts to become free agents. If they didn't say anything about whether or not they were becoming free agents two years ago, then the media would have harped on about speculating whether they would or not the entire time and we see what happened when they did make it known that they'd opt out. It was really a no win situation as far as the coverage of this was going to go over the years.Comment

Actually, as far as the questions and everything, it would've been avoided with either 2 simple responses.#RespectTheCultureComment

On another note, anyone see this on ESPNChicago?

Thoughts on this?
I personally think you make a huge mistake passing up on possibly landing Bron or Wade trying to get Melo when he can sign anywhere next offseason and certainly not trading for him where he can opt out and still go elsewhere anyway. There's no guarantee at all that he won't bolt for New York at any chance next year.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Rubbish.
Carmelo isn't on the market till next year and that's if he's on the market. I skimmed after the beginning of the article as it makes 0 sense to me. It's just too dangerous to skip.
I do agree, he would be a better fit with Rose compared to Wade or LBJ though. However, you have to go after what's out there now.Comment
