I figured that's when he was talking about. I think part of the equation with this whole discussion about where would these guys be if they NEVER played with the other guys. Yeah it's easy to look at Pip's near two years without Michael and say he'd have been a HOFer regardless but that's just ignoring the fact that he played with Jordan for 6 years prior to that. This sucks cause Scottie is like my second favorite player of all-time and I'm basically arguing against him lol.

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
TWO
Worthy was the unanimous number 1 pick when he came out and was a fantastic scorer. If anything his offense suffered by being on such a stacked team and not being the number 1 (or 2) scoring option. By the time Magic wasn't around Worthy wasn't anything like his prime and was losing the speed and athleticism that made him the player he was.
With that being said every player owes their success to others in basketball so that whole discussion is 'unwinnable' from either side.Comment

Unless one of you guys have a mystical crystal ball it's a pointless (yet still fun) debate. I agree about your love for Scottie though, he was close to my fav player in the league as well.
I think at the end of the day people remember winners so if LeBron and Co can win at least 3 titles they will go down in history as greats / winners (except in Cleveland where they will never let it go and rightly so).Last edited by Jonesy; 07-19-2010, 02:19 AM.Comment

Across the intranets, the backlash to the backlash is really ramping up, lol.
Cleveland and the cavs organization will be more hated than Bron or the Heat by the time the season starts.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: This is what the G.O.A.T thinks of the LBJ show
When Riley had a meeting with James during Finals he invited Jordan along so that they could discuss things together. They supposedly didn't talk about free agency but it was one of the moves to lure James in. Just throwing it out here to give it some context as I think Jordan knew all along what was coming.NBAComment

Who cares what he has to say? At the end of the day LeBron is not Jordan.
I think they ran the story on espn as well.

Re: This is what the G.O.A.T thinks of the LBJ show
His desire to win?....lol People this is not going to be a cake walk for the next 3-5 years. Let me quote myself from another thread...hold on...
LMAO....SMH....Its sad people think like this. I'm telling you guys. Jordan's era really did a number on everyone. Subconsciously you guys are still trying to replace the man. And everyone else's standard before him is worth nothing. And anything after hasn't been yet....lol
The biggest reason a lot of people are complaining is because this is the first time this has ever happened. Superstars taking less for the better cause....LMAO in this new sports world where money is over everything. And when you get old you join up with another vet to win a ring. Like a lot of players do.Last edited by jeebs9; 07-19-2010, 08:08 AM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: This is what the G.O.A.T thinks of the LBJ show
Its ok for players to get old and have their skills reduced to "old man status". And has to pull a Gary Paton or Antoine Walker to win a ring. And thats ok with public. But its not ok for young players in their prime to get together and try to win more than one ring.
I bet you if you could ask the Celtics big 3. If they would of taken a little less to band together to win more rings. I bet you all of them would say yes.....lol
Sometimes it sound like people expected him to stay in Cleveland and never win a ring. "You would of had more respect if you stayed in Cleveland and never won a ring."....LMAOHands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

LOL as if that was a reality for any of them back then, the league was so different they were signing like 10 year 10 million dollar contracts. How would they know what free agency is like? It wasnt even an option as far as building a team.

Re: This is what the G.O.A.T thinks of the LBJ show
Originally posted by nuckles2k2I don't think anyone can question his desire to win since this is a move that's perceived to be "taking the easy way out." But I think people are puzzled about the last 7 years of watching LBJ marketed as "King" James, and the Chosen One SI cover, and the Chosen One tat on his back, etc. when it seems like the "Chosen One" had no desire to lead a team and be the centerpiece...which is what other great players of their era did, especially in their prime.
There's a difference between chasing a ring on the back end of your career, and chasing a ring when you were just the back-to-back MVP of the league. If you don't believe the Cavs have the cap flexibility to surround you with the proper talent then go to a team that does (Bulls, Nets, Clippers, Knicks) and still be the centerpiece that leads his supporting cast.
LBJ did one of two things. Allow Nike and "his people" to market a lie if he never had the desire to lead an NBA team and accept all of the challenges associated with that, or two; he just turned his back on everything that he believed in because of the public perception of "to be a legend you have to have a ring" thinking that a ring alone is what puts your name on the same level as a Jordan or Magic.
The man literally doesn't have a team anymore, the Cavs was his team, the Nets would have been his team, the Knicks would have been his team, the Bulls arguably would have been his team, the Clippers would have been his team. He's now in Miami where he's on the same page as Bosh, second fiddle behind a man who's been there for 7 years and has a ring.
And I want to know how Nike markets him now. Because like I said, you can't be a king if you don't hold your own court. Do they still call him King James when AT BEST he's sharing a court with D-Wade? (But I do believe it's Wade's court, 7 years and a title has to count for something.)
We either witnessed a lie for 7 years or watched a grown man cop out. I'm not going to call him names or anything, but he could have handled things better no matter how you look at it.
But I do think he is beyond all that stuff. I think at the end of the day. He just wants to win. And win now. I think he expected his self you have won at least one championship now. I think the last 2 years really did a number on him. Coming up short after being the number 1 team twice. And then another 3 years of the samething would of put him at 10 years. I think many might agree the last 2 years. LeBron's play the last 2 years has if not the best the close second best player in the NBA.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
