Re: The LeBron James Thread
This kid makes a point. "NBA is where the magic happens not where rookies go" haha

Re: The LeBron James Thread
From Simmons' Jeremy Lin mailbag:
Q: Doesn't LeBron James have to be kicking himself watching Jeremy Lin light up Madison Square Garden? LeBron could be the man lighting up the Garden, and he would be legendary for revitalizing basketball in New York! If he was ever to question his "Decision," you'd think it would be on the night Lin put up 38 and drew "MVP!" chants against the Lakers.
— Casey, Dell Rapids, S.D.
SG: Poor LeBron — he really does get blamed for everything. Although you're tapping into the single most important point of Linsanity … something that, from a "shaping the history of the league" standpoint, probably transcends anything Jeremy Lin will do for the Knicks. You know, unless he wins three titles or something. Let's keep going.
Q: Isn't what's currently going on with Jeremy Lin in New York the ultimate example of why Lebron should have signed there? The kid had a few good games and now OWNS the biggest city in America. Imagine what Lebron could have done there ... I know it's beating a dead horse at this point, but what a cop out.
— Steve, London, U.K.
SG: It's not beating a dead horse. It's a crucial point. One more e-mail on this …
Q: Do you see how the Garden is electric with Jeremy Lin? He's a legend in NY in less than 2 weeks. That's what LeBron never realized. If he came to The NYK every single game would be like that. We as a city are so starved for basketball success that if he brought us a championship he would have been a Greek god in NYC just walking along with the mortals. I hate LeBron.
— KDubb, Queens, N.Y.
SG: You shouldn't hate LeBron. You should hate the judgment/instincts/business acumen of his "advisors" (the numbskulls who pushed him toward Miami and/or didn't talk him out of it); how he walked away from the single biggest basketball challenge (winning a championship with the star-crossed Knicks, which would have made him immortal); his bizarre choice to play with his biggest rival over trying to beat him (who does that???); the fact that he played in Madison Square Garden FOR <strike>SIX</strike> SEVEN STRAIGHT SEASONS without realizing there's a different energy in that building (????); or this current NBA culture in which people look at themselves as "brands" instead of "basketball players" and make every decision accordingly (and ironically, no decision for LeBron's "brand" would have been better than LeBron saving the Knicks).
A big part of the LeBron hate is the fact people feel he copped out, took the easy way, and didn't want to be "The Man". If he goes to the Knicks none of that can be said, and he'd be playing in the best arena with the best crowd/atmosphere in the league instead of Miami's joke of a fanbase that can't even be bothered to get to their seats at tip-off or fill the arena when they have two of the best players to ever play in their city.
As a basketball fan, I still get annoyed he basically ignored the possibility of what he could have done had he gone to the Knicks.Last edited by BlueNGold; 02-22-2012, 10:44 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Well I'll say something, I was hoping he'd go to the Knicks (if you go back far enough searching I think you will find me saying as such before he made his decision).
I like the Knicks and have not enjoyed seeing them in mediocrity all these years (as if you need reminding http://www.nbauniverse.com/teams/rec...ork_knicks.htm).
It would have been kinda nice seeing him going to a team with history and real, passionate, true fans (sorry Miami Heat fans) not that sham that is Miami. Hard as it is to root for him, it probably could've been more palatable to do so if he would have ended up a Knick.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Lebron probably doesn't give a damn about New York and it's "Gawden".
I get tired of people making the Knicks franchise and where they play into this majestic place where magic is supposed to happen.
If anything he should have stayed in Cleveland. If not, than Miami>>>>>>>>>>>New YorkRedskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Funny how nobody mentions the ugly side of NY sports hype media. And ftr, when it comes to NBA basketball, there is nothing "majestic" about the New York Knicks franchise. The legend has always superceded the reality.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
And like it was mentioned in that article, just look at Jeremy Lin and how everything has blown up surrounding him. I highly doubt he gets as much attention if he isn't playing in New York. Imagine what would have happened had LeBron played there.
I just don't get why NY is being downplayed. There's a reason guys like Kobe, MJ, and LeBron himself always put on their best performances in the Garden. No other arena in the league touches it or the atmosphere that comes with it when the Knicks are actually relevant and not laughing stocks of the league like they've been during the post-Ewing era.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. But that's the point. Bringing an NBA championship to them wouldn't be on the scale of bringing one to Cleveland of course, but it would still be a gigantic accomplishment.

With LBJ I see it much different with Lin. Lin has absolutely no pressure on him because he was in a way a nobody that now is a somebody in a NY uniform. LBJ would have come in this situation with a ton of pressure. Even more so than anywhere else. Failure would be multiplied compared to anywhere else because of the expectations. The love no doubt would be huge but the trade off for not winning is different between the two. Look at Melo already.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
I can't argue the second part. The crowd is terrific along with the atmosphere. And that organ is the best in the business.
