Those big men have nothing to do with Jordan individually? Just as Hibbert has nothing to do with LeBron.. I don't understand what you're insinuating here.

          Re: The LeBron James Thread

They just said it on PTI, couldn't agree more. If Lebron and David West were both complaining about the officiating after the game, or during the game, anytime... then STOP flopping. You have no right to complain if you're flopping. The game would be a heck of a lot easier for these guys to officiate if the flopping weren't a part of it. Would we get a perfectly called game? No, of course not.

But if you're a flopper, then you have zero right to complain about officiating. You're a part of the problem.

true, but jordan dominated an era when the conventional wisdom was big men rule. hibbert is literally proving why jordan was so great.

That's cool and all, but if flopping made the refs miss a 24 second violation or any of the terrible calls in that game...that's another problem...

Man STOP with the MJ talk, geez.

That was then, this is now. Hibbert is one of the best centers in the NBA, and LeBron and the Heat have to figure out a way to stop him.

Oh, no doubt that was pathetic. But the true foul calls could hopefully be called a little better.

Two things have hampered the traditional big man.

                        1. Players have become more athletic which in turn killed some of the technical skills big men used to heavily rely on.

                        2. Offenses no longer run through the low post. More bigs are forced outside of their operating zones turning them into third options more times than not. The big scoring big men get half of their buckets on scraps

there are no big men in today's game with the combination in regards to athletic ability and agility to robinson, olajuwon and shaq. they would dominate the big men in today's game.

Of course some of the greatest players to ever play would play very well but I bet they'd give something up statistically when guarding a guy like Bosh on the perimeter. I'm not saying Bosh would put it on them, just that the game is different. Love, Noah, Horford, West, Lopez and the other big men are starting to knock down the 17-18 footer more consistently now as that's what offenses are looking for. A big body like Shaquille would have some trouble if his man had the NBA capability of putting the ball on the floor. I'm willing to say our current big men would be effective in other eras as well.

But I'm going way off... personally I don't believe Hibbert is a top five big man. Has potential but he isn't there yet.
