    Re: The LeBron James Thread

Interesting article on the approach Magic is taking with the Lakers building around LeBron. They want to build a different team than what typically surrounded him in Cleveland so he can transition to a more post-up/off-ball role for the latter stage of his career.

The unexpected deals that went down after landing LeBron James are part of Lakers president Magic Johnson's plan to support the team's new star and his changing game.

It makes sense they want to surround him with more athletic playmakers and defensive-minded guys instead of shooters who can't play defense or create their own offense.

I do think whoever beats GS is going to be a team that's a little different basically you cant out shoot GS 4 out of 7 games.

        Just based on pure speculation of where teams currently are and trying to project the rest of free agency a little, I could see the east playing out like;

        1. Boston

        2. Toronto

        3. Philadelphia

        4. Indiana

        5. Washington

        6. Detroit

        7-8. Milwaukee/Chicago/Cleveland/Miami

Interesting you have Detroit at 6. I guess I could see it but I don’t know. And IMO Milwaukee could be much improved next year with Bud coaching them. Plus Ilyasova, while nothing flashy, is a solid pickup at least. Washington is either going to be really good or a disaster with Duhwight.

And oj as for Indy being the 2 seed, the only way I see it is if Myles takes that leap we’ve all been waiting for. Hard to see the 2 seed happening without someone stepping up. Tyreke’s addition isn’t enough I don’t think and he’s still a question mark as far as being healthy all year.

Probably old news but just heard on the radio that LeBron called Cedric Ceballos to ask him if it's alright if he wears #23 with the Lakers.

I saw that, but the only evidence to suggest that is Ceballos saying it on instagram. And to me it looked like a joke I don’t think it happened at all.

so apparently Lebron used to haze Kyrie and Kyrie couldnt stand him for it. Amongst other reasons.

Like made him drink until he passed out? Had Kyrie and the other pledges clean his locker? lol I'm going to need some more info on this "hazing" thing, sounds silly.

For real LeBron recruited Kyrie into the Bloods. I never heard him refer to himself as Byrie once from 2011-2014.

And then, as the final disrespect, he leaves to a team that calls itself the Cs. It’s war out here fam.

It wasn’t hazing. It was initiation.

The Lakers dont have overwhelming talent like he had in Miami and Cleveland. Its going to be a dog fight for a playoff spot. I hope he is prepared for that. Especially when he will shoulder the most load that he has carried since 2009.
I disagree that he will have to carry most of the load. He will have to lead the way but this roster have a lot of capables players, scorers and playmakers. I think the lakers are still going to play at a high pace, push the tempo with lbj trailing and taking care of the half court offense if they get nothing in trandition. But as it is, i think we have good depth and they wont look like trash once he sits.

I also read an article by Zach Lowe that says that Lebron isn't pushing the lakers to trade and gut their team to get Kawhi wich is very encouraging.

I honestly think this years lakers team has more talent and a better fit overall around LB than the cavs did this past season. Yea, GS is probably going to trash them in the finals if healthy but who the hell is going to be able to compete against that team with boogie now? Its about 2019/2020 and developing those guys, but injuries happen and who knows if this GS run continues past the year.

Last year's Cavs team was trash. Took some heroics from Lebron to beat the weak east. People underestimate this lakers roster.

Lakers won 35 games in the west, could easily have been 40 had Ball and Ingram not been sidelined for so long. Keep Randle, and Lebron doesn't come, I think they fight for a playoffs spot this season.

Depends on the seeding. I think they lose to GSW in either round so that could be 1st round exit if they struggle to make the playoffs, but i dont trust any other team in the west to not choke in the playoffs honestly.
