    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

That's besides the point whether he is the "2nd coming" or not, which nobody knows even though you try to pretend like you do know but you really don't know.

Young Talent, Draft Picks, and Expirings, which is what they want so yes unless the Clippers, Warriors and Bulls are going to throw in Griffin, Curry or Noah then that is the best deal they're going to get otherwise one of those teams would've thrown either of those players in.

Meanwhile if this was "Melo reportedly going to the Knicks" you wouldn't have **** to say about it but because it's the Nets you try to downgrade anything positive about what they're doing and for the life of me I don't know why. Is it because your Knicks haven't been worth **** for the last 10 years or is it something else?

        New rumor:

Denver Nuggets offered Carmelo Anthony / JR Smith / another unnamed player for Gallo / AR / Curry / Douglas and NYK turned it down.

        AND...

AR, Douglas and Gallo to Denver. HOU pick to DEN
        Chandler to Rockets
        Melo to NYK

They should've done that bolded deal.

NY turned down the first offer? They would have had Melo/JR/Chandler? Wouldn't have been all bad for NY, I would have taken that.

Also, someone on another board said ESPNradio reporting Melo will not be in camp today...........

It's the interwebz so I have no idea if either of those are true.

I don't see how we'd turn down the first offer though. Not a chance.

Same ESPN radio thing said Melo isn't going to attend media day and won't attend camp either. Basically he's done doing anything with the Nuggets and will be traded as soon as Denver finds a deal they like.

Pairing Stats and Melo alone was worth it for NYK. He's the next best thing to landing LeBron. J.R. is a lose cannon but can fill it up better than anybody when he's hot.

                  New Update:

                  Melo talks 'moving along' (UPDATE)

                  Edited on: September 27, 2010 12:57 pm

                  Score: 206

                  Log-in to rate:

With an unofficial but very real deadline coinciding with the start of Nuggets media day and training camp, talks of a blockbuster trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the Nets picked up steam Monday, two people familiar with the negotiations told CBSSports.com.

One person briefed on the complicated, four-team talks described them as "moving along" after a weekend of inertia fueled by Denver's indecision about trading its franchise player and Anthony's desire to make sure he was doing the right thing by signing off on a deal to New Jersey.

"Talking and waiting," was how another person with knowledge of the negotiations described them.

On Sunday, a person connected to the talks told CBSSports.com that there was a "more than 50 percent chance" Anthony is traded in the next 24-48 hours. The momentum gained Monday bolstered that prediction, with most of the focus on the original framework of the deal also involving the Bobcats and Jazz.

As part of the scenario being discussed for weeks and tabled over the weekend while Denver executives strategized privately and sought other offers, the Nets would send No. 3 pick Derrick Favors and two first-round picks to Denver for Anthony. The Bobcats would get Devin Harris from New Jersey and send Boris Diaw to Utah, which could send Andrei Kirilenko and his $17.8 million expiring contract to Denver. Quinton Ross would go from New Jersey to Utah.

The Nuggets, who accelerated trade talks in response to ominous predictions of problems that would result from Anthony staying in Denver, convene for media day at noon PT Monday. Though that hurdle is far from a drop-dead deadline, it is nonetheless ideal from the Nuggets' standpoint to make considerable progress before being saddled with controversy and drama.

After spending the weekend trying to determine if a better deal would emerge -- or if better assets could be acquired from the three other teams currently involved -- the Nuggets appear to have reached a tipping point in the most difficult decision a franchise ever has to make. That is one reason Denver tried to explore every angle and wanted to meet in person with Anthony before agreeing to trade him. As of Monday, hours before Anthony was scheduled to appear at media day, it wasn't clear if Nuggets officials had met face-to-face with Anthony yet. Sources say his representatives, particularly CAA agent William Wesley, have been warning Denver executives that there would be consequences if Anthony wasn't traded before the start of camp.

One avenue Denver pursued earlier in the trade discussions was getting Gerald Wallace from Charlotte in the deal, a person involved in the talks told CBSSports.com Monday. But the Bobcats have insisted throughout that they'd only trade Wallace if it meant getting Anthony in the deal, and that's not happening based on Anthony's lack of interest in playing in Charlotte. For the same reason, Denver's interest in the Sixers' Andre Iguodala is a non-starter.

As the Nets' deal moved closer to completion Monday, one team sources say is more involved than commonly thought is the Knicks. After New York fell short in its pursuit of LeBron James and/or Dwyane Wade, it would be devastating for the Knicks to watch Anthony go to their cross-river rival -- especially since that rival is moving into the city limits to Brooklyn in two years. While Knicks president Donnie Walsh has been in far from panic mode, he has been "working every angle" in an effort to get back in the game with Anthony, according to a rival executive familiar with Walsh's approach.

"He's the master," the executive said. "I'll put it this way: If there's any way to get something done that he feels good about, he'll get it done. He'll leave no stone unturned."
EDIT: I still think he'll show up today at their Media Day and then he'll say the following or something close to it:

I’m a Nugget, I’ve always enjoyed playing here, and I would prefer not to talk about things that could distract the team. I’m just looking forward to playing basketball, and that’s why I’m here today.
He seen the PR hit Lebron took after his mess so I doubt he'll want to have the same happen to him.

why bring the knicks into this? If the knicks were in the situation I wouldn't want the knicks to trade for him. I want the knicks to sign him as a FA and not lose their young core they have now. I really have no idea why your so uptight about it, Favors imo shouldn't land Melo. I could see Curry landing melo, or a John Wall. Favors has patrick o'bryant/hakim warrick written all over him

Because you're talking as if it's just Favors for Melo straight up when that's not the case.
