Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
As Carmelo Anthony(notes) implored Denver management to keep exploring deals that would land him with the New York Knicks, the blockbuster trade that would’ve sent the All-Star forward to the New Jersey Nets has reached a perilous crossroads, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday night.
Anthony’s willingness to accept a contract extension with the Nets has begun to deteriorate over the weekend, and sources said at least some part of his uneasiness has come from conversations with former Nets players around the league. Despite the Nets’ new ownership and a new arena, Anthony has been regaled with tales of empty seats, fan apathy and second-class citizenship in the shadows of the Knicks and Madison Square Garden. Already, he had been uneager about joining a team that wasn’t close to contention.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
If he's worried about a team not being in contention, then why the hell does he want out so badly considering the team he is on right now gives him a better opportunity than any of the other 2-3 options out there?
Me personally, if he comes fine and we'll move along. If not, then fine and we'll still move along but he needs to realize that he doesn't have the same benefits that Lebron, Wade and Bosh had this summer since they had the RIGHT to walk away from their former teams since they were no longer under contract with them beginning on June 24th. Either way, hurry up and get this thing over with so everybody can focus on what they have currently and move on with their seasons.#RespectTheCultureComment

The only way it's possible is if they go the Miami route and have all the other players take the minimum.Comment

I don't know how but it's been rumored that TP wants to be a knick for a long time. Maybe they work out a sign and trade who knows...Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I highly doubt the Knicks make any more big moves if they do get Melo, this season that is. There's still the prospect of trying to get a top 5 PG to join STAT and Melo in the future but it wouldn't be this year. But I want to see what Felton can do first in this offense (regardless of whether or not we get Melo) before we start trying to usher in the CP3/Deron/TP era.
I'm already kind of disappointed that we'd have to lose Gallo and Randolph to get Melo right now, but when you have to chose between "potentially great" and a proven commodity, I guess you're better off going with the 26 year old entering his prime.
But those season tickets are looking pretty good right now.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Seems more to me that he wants good ownership and wants fame in the city. If he wanted to form a super team, he wouldn't want to leave Denver. Anthony + Billups + Nene is better than anything else he can get right now it seems.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
unless he goes to NYC with Amare, and then later recruits CP3, as was stated by CP3 at Melo's wedding in NYC. Its not a right now scenarioComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Melo had better hope that NJ can pull in some top-tier FAs either next season or in 2010 because he's moving to a worse situation than the one he's in now (which isn't all that bad). Guess he's just trying to get his shine on as well.Comment
