Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
You expect him to trash NO on air? LeBron was staying in Cleveland to, just ask em.
If you've convinced yourself Paul is going to resign with NO in 2012, I can't help you. He and Melo were already discussing going to New York together, Brooklyn isn't to far off, and Lopez isn't an excellent 3rd piece. Something big is about to happen for the Nets, and in my opinion, Paul will be apart of it.
Who's getting traded to the Nets? Melo. Agency? CAA
Who's FA in 2011? Parker. Agency? CAA
Who's FA in 2012? CP3. Agency? CAAYou looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
If the Nets could get Carmelo Anthony this year and Tony Parker next year, I would be stoked!! We'd have a top 3 Center (or at least he should be by then) in Brook Lopez; a top 5 scorer in Carmelo; plenty of shooters with Murphy, Morrow, and the rest of them; 3 time NBA Champion and Finals MVP with Tony Parker; and Jordan Farmar who brings 2 more years of championship experience. That would be the most talent the Nets would have at one time in the history of the franchise. Again, I don't want to see Devin Harris go, but I can deal with it if that's going to be the end result!!According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.Comment

Is there any chance Murph is there for more than one season? It sounded like even he knew this was a 1-n-done stop for him."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
The Knicks conceivably can trade a player for a first-round pick, and there is some interest around the league for Anthony Randolph, the third-year forward who came to New York in the David Lee sign-and-trade with Golden State. According to a source, the Rockets would consider trading a first-round pick for Randolph.

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I just don't get Mr.Anthony, I thought he wanted out of Denver to go to a contender not a B-Team. Denver is a very talented team they got Chauncy, J.R., Birdman, Nene, K-Mart, Harrignton. So i don't know why Melo is so itchy to get a trade done now. I mean if he goes to the Knicks they would loose some talent on on very thin talented roster, no offense but NY ain't got enough talent to contend as it is now. But now it looks like Jersey is gonna be Melo's new home, which means they will loose Derrick Favors, a promising talent and a talented point guard in Devin Harris in a 4-way trade.
Which leaves Melo in a similar situation to T-Mac's Magic back in the day. I know Nets are gonna have cap and all but this means Melo is gonna have to be patient until the Nets can put some pieces around him, which is exactly the reason why the whole Anthony trade is baloney to me. If Anthony has to be patient anyway if a deal gets done....then why can't Mr. Anthony patiently wait another year in Denver, see how things go this year, probably make the playoffs and see if any of his favored destinations can put some decent players around so that he can sign with them next season?...
I think Melo is just jealous that his "best" friend Bron Bron hooked up in Miami with great talent and has all the attention right now, i think Melo wants out to get some attention and not throughly thinking what's best for him right now. My 2 cents....Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I'm not so sure actually. My gut would tell me he can be a suitable starter for a team who doesn't intend to make a deep playoff run.
But we never know what these guys are capable of after they've got a chip on their shoulder, and they dedicate themselves in the off-season.
Jordan has longed to prove he is worthy of a starting role, and he has the physical tools to achieve that. He's an underrated athlete, he's got decent IQ/feel, and has shown flashes of scoring from anywhere on the court.
His defense when focused has been more than acceptable.
I'm just skeptical due to his ceiling, I really don't think he has any sort of all-star potential, but then again you don't need an all-star PG to be a championship team.
Bottom line eventually he can be that guy if you have a great team around him, but right now, if he's your starter with Melo/Lopez, you will probably make the playoffs but who knows after that.
Losing Devin isn't all that bad. They don't need an all-star level point guard to compete for a title. They just need an upgrade for sure. Also like I said, they will probably attract a max player next year or maybe come up with CP3.
So here's how it all breaks down
Nets get: Melo, DJ Augestine
Bobcats get: Devin Harris, Hayes
Jazz get: Diaw, Ross
Nuggets get: AK 47, Favors and a 1st round pick which will be determined by how Golden State finishes the season
Cats get a PG, Jazz get a versatile big man, Nuggets get an expiring contract and two lottery picks [Favors being one of them], and Nets get another potential starting PG to battle with Farmar
Seems like a fair trade on all sides
OK so who thinks the Nets can reach the playoffs?
DJ/Morrow/Melo/Murphy/Lopez
Farmar/Williams/Outlaw/Damien James/Hump/Petro
I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of other folks on other boards think they have slim odds to reach the post season.
I have 6 locked in: Heat, Magic, Celtics, Bulls, Hawks, Bucks
Next group I have: NY, CHA, Washington
Next group: Philly, DET and NJ
I would like to see him back past this year either as a starter or a backup. A PF that could rebound and shoot(which Lord knows we need BADLY)aren't that easy to come by unless you know for sure you can get an upgrade at that position.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
He's had one injury with plantar fasciitis and now he's got bad feet? Come on Dice man. If we're gonna be worried about players durability then we need to be worried about one of our new Big Three members with Melo here being one of the most injured PFs in the game. Boozer played 37 games in 08.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
But, we have never seen DJ get the bulk of the minutes before. I don't think he has hit his development ceiling yet. He is still very young, if he had stayed in college he would be a rookie this upcoming season. I think his issues with LB aren't alarming, considering a lot of PG's have trouble with his style of coaching.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Does Larry Brown like his PGs to score alot of points because Devin has proven that can do that when he's healthy and confident or does he prefer them to be just distributers and play solid D(which Devin also does well)?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
The more I read about this, it seems like Augustin won't be part of the deal. That sucks, in my opinion.
Even though Augustin isn't starting quality, it'd be good to get a PG in return. Maybe Ben Uzoh can magically develop into a solid backup and Farmar blossoms.
Either way, I hope to see Outlaw traded for a point guard, and smart draft picks.
In next year's free agency, I also hope we go after Nene or Al Horford. Losing both Harris and Favors hurts.. but if Melo can ultimately lead us to Chris Paul (what a pipe dream), I guess i'm supportive.Comment
