    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

I continue to be baffled at Chicago. All they need do is give up Joakim Noah, and they'd get a proven All Star, and top 5 NBA player in return.

Melo/Rose/Boozer would be hell for just about everyone in the league. The only teams they wouldn't be favored over are the Heat, Lakers, and maybe the Magic and Celtics, but the latter two are arguable.

Joakim Noah may very well be the most overvalued player in the NBA.

HEY, I'm baffled myself. I just can't believe Chicago is going to let this opportunity past them by. I'd say if we had Melo we'd definitely be better than the Magic and Celtics. I agree that the Lakers and Heat(who has no center) would probably be the only teams better than the Bulls.

I see the Nets have NO PROBLEM trading away their best player in Devin Harris. BUT the Bulls have a problem trading away a center with bad feet.

Harris isn't the Nets best player, Lopez is, and the Nets refuse to trade Lopez. Without Noah, the Bulls defense and rebounding would take a huge hit.

Before the sudden "deadline" that popped up I didn't think it was a smart idea for Chicago to trade Noah since there was a chance Melo would wind up a FA and Chi could ultimately have both. Now, if the "deadline" is real, then Chicago needs to pack Noah's bags for him.

But at the same time, Noah is looking for an extension from Chicago so does he agree to sign an extension with Denver? If he doesn't then we're in the same boat with the Melo situation and Chicago is SOL.

And you brought up an excellent point. If the Bulls are so gung-ho about NOT trading Noah then why haven't they locked him in on his extension? According to a Yahoo report by Adrian Wojnarowski the Bulls are far apart with a contract extension with Noah.

One thing to watch: Noah and the Bulls are still far apart on a contract extension, sources said, and there are no assurances they’ll have a resolution before the start of the season.
NOW your telling me that we don't get Carmelo AND we're going into the season with the possibility of loosing Noah at the end of the year?

If we want to compete for a Championship at some point, we need to develop some young guys into good players. Amare, Melo, Felton, and scrubs is not going to do it.

Well, the Knicks already don't have any draft picks until 2014...so building on youh isn't happening anytime soon. Might as well try a last minute effort to trade Galinari/Randolph or Chandler to a couple of teams that would possibly give you a draft pick to give to the Nets. Amare and Melo would be at the top of their game in Dantoni's system and Raymond Felton is trade bait if they have a chance a TP or CP3 in the offseason. NY needs this.

I would trade Noah in a package for Melo, sign Dampier for 1 year and make a run at the chip. If the Bulls had Melo/Rose/Booz that big three could deal with anybody. Besides...Bulls aren't gonna give Noah David Lee money anyway and I'm sure he's gonna want a deal very similar to that one.

Shoot, I'd give NY their picks and Jefferies back for Galo and Randolph.

                    Done deal!

We still have our 1st rd pick for 2011. It's a swap-pick with Houston. You also mention building on youth ain't happening anytime soon, yet our oldest player is Amare who will be 28 in Nov. Looks like a pretty Young Team to me on paper & something we can build upon.

Like someone already said, Melo's going to a worse team in a more top-heavy conference. Also, from what I've read, he wanted out of Denver because of how unstable it's getting. He likes George Karl a lot (from what I've heard) and two of Karl's closest people in the organization were fired, not to mention like all of the core players can be free agents after this season.

He's had one injury with plantar fasciitis and now he's got bad feet? Come on Dice man. If we're gonna be worried about players durability then we need to be worried about one of our new Big Three members with Melo here being one of the most injured PFs in the game. Boozer played 37 games in 08.
