    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

Meh, I'll wait til he actually plays some games against other teams before I pass any judgement on him.

And I was saying that about the PF Position all along. We've had a hole there for years since K-Mart left and we've finally got that situated but yet we're going to create that same hole AGAIN to get him? I've said all along that if we can get him without moving Lopez, Favors and Harris, then I'd be all for it but I wouldn't sacrifice the depth and gut the team out just for the sake of getting Melo here, otherwise the team he'd be on here wouldn't be no better than what he just left behind in Denver.

I agree, but the star power is nice and denver was arguably a contender. If we could do something where we keep murphy, then I'm definitely all for this, even if we loose favors

We've had star power before and it only got us to the 2nd Round every year.

If I remember, the last 'star' the Nets had was Jason Kidd. Didn't they go to the Finals twice with him?

Yea Kidd was our last "true" star that we had and we did go to the Finals. I was talking about when we had Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson here.

Carmelo is way better than carter or jefferson ever were, and those teams didn't have a center close to carter or a pf like troy murhpy.

i think with the right additions over the next two years, we could be in the east's elite

Actually, if Vince Carter didn't crap his pants in the clutch vs the Cavaliers you could have been competing for a Title.

That was because Lawrence Frank was the coach. That guy couldn't coach his way out of a paper-bag.

Totally disagree. Frank was a likeable guy and he always worked hard. His problems were that he was a bit of a nerd and his roster was totally inept.

Your Anti-Carter bias has completely blinded you on this one. Lawrence Frank is an assistant coach, and that is all. Ultimately, the Nets never had a chance to do anything because they didn't have quality bigs, but that doesn't mean they used their roster to the best of their advantage. Offensively and defensively, that team lost its identity game by game until Frank was canned.

Likeable? LMAO. My cat is likeable, doesn't mean I want her coaching an NBA franchise.

Personally, I'm willing to mortgage Troy Murphy, Derek Favors, Kris Humphries and a future 1st rounder for Carmelo. Could you imagine our lineup if we could land him?

C - Brook Lopez (Top 5 center in the NBA IMO)
PF - ???? (Who cares LOL) Joe Smith?
                        SF - Carmelo Anthony
                        SG - Terrence Williams
PG - Devin Harris (just 2 seasons removed from an All-Star year)

                        Bench

                        SF - Damion James
                        PG - Jordan Farmar
                        SG - Anthony Morrow

But then again, being that Carmelo was a No. 3 pick, and Favors is a No. 3 pick, we should hold Murphy at least IMO.

                            Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

Anti Carter bias? I just pulled out some of my old game reports from 07. It reads: "Carter 4-19 in 4th with game on line in all losses. Shows poor shot selection and is inept in the clutch." Actually, looking back on it, you could question why Frank took the ball away from Kidd and put it in Carter's unreliable hands.

Even in 06 and 05 playoff defeats, the Nets went through too many dead stretches where no one could rescue them. Carter would miss layups, miss open jumpers, miss free throws, dribble off his knee, make brain dead passes, ect. It was expected that he would give a superstar performance and he didn't come through..... not even close.
Frank got as far as he could go with Carter as his franchise player.

And what of his most recent roster? Devin Harris, a point guard who wants to make his own plays and is best known for collapsing in the clutch with Dallas. Chris Douglas Roberts, a shooting guard who can't shoot, pass, or defend. Trenton Hassel, a career backup. Yi Jianlian, a guy who has the basketball IQ of a chair. Brook Lopez, one of the worst defenders in the sport. Rafer Alston, a guy who is about as substantial as the latest Rucker Park MVP. That is one of the most dysfunctional rosters I have seen in my last 30 years of watching basketball.

I just hope the Bulls reconsider the Noah for Carmelo deal.

And just basing this on speculation(no concrete evidence in this thought) it seems like the Nuggets really want to do this deal with the Bulls. I'm not sure where to gauge Melo's interest in the Bulls BUT it does seem like he wants to go to the Knicks(or maybe Nets). BUT the Nuggets wants no part of the Knicks deal. They seem more reluctant to deal with the Nets because they can get something in return. I'm just not sure if the Nuggets want to get Devin Harris since they already have Billups in the fold. the sticking point maybe that the Nuggets might want Lopez, which maybe the Nets don't want to part? Don't know, just off the top of my head pure speculation.

BUT I will re-iterate that I hope the Bulls don't pass up this deal because they didn't want to part with Noah. Once again, it's a poor excuse for Bulls management to keep an average player and pass up a potential HOF player.
I believe if Carmelo is traded he could possibly end up with either the Knicks or Nets. I would like to see him play for the Knicks.

The Knicks have nothing to offer really... the Nuggets want at least one good draft pick.

It'll be the Nets or nobody IMO unless some darkhorse comes out of nowhere. Their available picks and young talent is unmatched and there are several different deals that work out under the league's financial rules.
