10 years ago I definitely would have agreed with that; but now with social media and the way sports journalism/media has turned, i don't think its nearly as bad a move for Dwight to confront him.

I agree with that.

They're just going to turn the volume up on him. And, mentally, he doesn't seem like the strongest guy.

D-Will is literally sitting between 2 franchises that both desperately want him and he's cool as ice.

I could see Dwight struggling out the gate next season, if there is one.

He basically put Bucher on the spot for reporting stuff that isn't true(Bucher's been pimping this "Duhwight to the Lakers/Nets" thing since February)

He and Deron have seemed genuine about it because they've at least made it known and said themselves they don't enjoy, unlike what your boy did up to last summer.

He has done nothing to end the speculation. Not that I expect him to this early. Is it not Bucher's job to speculate? It was a "neat" response very Dwight-like, but it was pointless. Bucher will continue to do his job just like Howard should continue to get better like he said. When the time comes Howard can weight his options and decide what it is that's best for him, his family, and his career.

Which goes back to my earlier point in that the Media is the LAST group of people you want to go to war with.

We were just giving him props for doing something most players are even scared to do(confront the media) because they're afraid of what'll be said about them by the Media.

Give Dwight Howard this — he is trying.
LeBron James made a half-hearted effort to stamp out the free agent rumor circus around him, but at first he seemed to enjoy the attention enough that he let the fire start and by the time he tried to put it out it was too late. Carmelo Anthony didn’t even try, he seemed to revel in the attention, at least at first.
Dwight Howard is having none of that. He has been aggressive in shooting down he rumors.

It's this line that was throwing me off. How is he "shooting down the rumors". Wasn't it Dwight who said something about playing for the Lakers himself?

Nah, seriously he said(because he was asked)if he could play with anyone, it'd be Kobe Bryant and of course that got spun into "Duhwight wants to go to LA" by Bucher. But Duhwight himself has never said he wants to play for the Lakers. People made that connection because of the Kobe comment and Duhwight's newfound love for acting so folks came up with the conclusion of :

Duhwight saying he would play with Kobe if he could play with any player in the league + his new love of Acting = Duhwight wants to go to LA.

Ok I never really knew what Dwight said I can see if that's the case why he would say something. To my point nothing he said was "shooting down" any rumors though.

Nah it wasn't and it probably won't until he signs an extension with Orlando, if they offer him one.

This is going to be the case when any player who is one of the best at their position, playing on a team with nothing else on there. Duhwight's getting it now and once his is settled, they'll turn their focus to Kevin Love and possibly Russell Westbrook as well, except with him people will use the "He wants to be The Man" tag on him.

I honestly don't see how he did anything that special.

I would give him props if he came out straight and just said "I'm with Orlando. Orlando is my squad and I want to be here to see this thing out".

But he didn't.

As far as Bucher goes, wow so he made a sarcastic comment to him.

I don't see how he owned him or sonned him really. I doubt that was the first sarcastic barb ever thrown by a star player to a BSPN reporter or any reporter.
