I get the feeling he lands in Boston, but that's assuming Doc is still around coaching at that time.

Dwight Howard and Chris Paul do not equal favorites in the West from Day 1. If he is traded then its pretty much certain he is going to the Western Conference. Orlando would be labeled fools if they gave him to another Eastern Conference foe, no matter what they offered them.

If Howard and Paul are here I assure you the team is going nowhere.

Clearly I strongly disagree. The Lakers and Spurs will all be a year older. IMO the Mavs will never be a title contender with Dirk as the man. The Griz, and Nuggets should be really good. Even the Clippers should compete next year for a playoff spot, but I don't think any of those team would give a Paul/Howard Hornets team a run. OKC will probably be the only serious competition. I'll take Paul/Howard over Westbrook/Durant. Coach Williams already improved our team defense this year especially before a lot of the movement we had. I'd love to see what he would constuct with Dwight in the middle.

But the thing is, will the team even be in NO by the time Dwight hits the market? That was what I originally meant to say.

Howard has a player option after next year. The question is if Howard does not sign this offseason or sometime during next season whether or not they should trade him. Get something for him instead of getting nothing if he leaves via free agency the following year.

Do Orlando want to be Denver with Carmelo or Cleveland with LeBron. Denver was able to aqcuire some key pieces that will allow them to be just as competitive as they were when Melo was there. Cleveland held on to their franchise player got nothing in return and is currently one of the league worst team.

So if Orlando gets the heads up from Dwight that he wants to be moved and Otis Smith changes his mind we could trade for Dwight as early as this offseason. At the latest sign him as a FA the following year.

I think NO would have to trade for Dwight to get him. I doubt he would even seriously consider signing as a FA with NO due to him not knowing if they will still be there. Plus if I was the Magic I would rather have something like Bynum, Artest an Brown in return for a trade then Okafor an West. Heck Bynum by himself is probably worth more then Okafor an West.

Bynum who can't get through an entire season? Artest who has been wildly inconsistent? Brown who has shown flashes, but has yet to put it all together?

                  starters
                  Nelson/Arenas/Artest/Turkoglu/Bynum

                  bench
                  Duhon/Brown/Q. Rich/Bass/Anderson

This team is fighting for a playoff berth in the East the next 2-3years. 1st you hope Bynum stays healthy. Then you force Hedo to play out of position at the 4. There is nobody who can give you a consistent 20-25 points a night on that team(maybe if Arenas gets back @ Agent 0 level which I doubt). Nelson is best when running the pick & roll who will he run it with with that line up? This is only a good deal IF

Brown can develop into more than just an athlete.
                  And
                  Bynum can stay healthy.

All of which has yet to happen and I don't think there's any reason to think it will.

West is 30 an coming off an injury an for the past two season has average what 19-7. Its only down hill for him now. Okafor is also nearing his 30s an the past two season 10-9. Yea I rather have Bynums potential an hope he doesn't get hurt an some toss in players with potential like Brown in return for Howard instead of two guys whos best yrs are behind them. also its not like West is going to give you a consistent 20-24 pts in your trade scenario either. When Bynum is on his game his pretty dominant.

Difference of opinions I guess. Either way losing Howard is a lose-lose.

Agreed, maybe they can find a team to some how take on Arenas contract in a trade for Howard. Otherwise you lose Howard an your still stuck with Arenas lol

True. But of the available trade packages the Bynum one is the best.

Yeah the only thing that may be better than getting close vaule for Howard is dumping that ridiculous contract Arenas has.

Once again there's no telling how the new CBA will look, but teams like the Wizards and Magic are in trouble for years if they agree to a hard cap. If there isn't some kind of grace period those teams are handicap for years.

You basically nailed down the reasoning, not to mention Okafor's overpaid contract that would just weigh Orlando's cap down.

I don't know why thRONe wants to keep pushing that deal as if it's going to be the best Orlando could get in a sign & trade because it isn't. I won't completely rule out NO as a possible spot for Dwight, but the chances are extremely low IMO when he's likely going to have teams like the Lakers, Celtics and possibly the Thunder throwing cash at him, as well as The Russian who you can't count out either.
