Prior to 08, I never considered Pierce to a Top 2 SF.

But that's another topic itself so yeah.

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?

They were all top 5 at their positions in 2008. Ray was probably in the lower of the top 5, but back then Kobe, Wade, and Roy were considered the top 3 SGs in the NBA. Cant really think of any other SG to put in the top 5 to take out Ray.

The Magic management letting Dwight dictate what happens with SVG and Smith is sad to see. Same thing with the Cavs, one chose not to resign, and one was fired. Players should not be running management, let them just play the game.

Back on the Duhwight Subject at hand:

I still prefer for this to go to FA but if they gotta take him now, then go ahead. I just think it'll be much more difficult filling out the rest of the roster decent bench players and not just your Sundiata Gaines' and Gerald Greens of the world.

The Nets' plan is to sign Dwight Howard outright this summer, re-sign Deron Williams and re-sign Brook Lopez on an annual salary of approximately $10 million, according to sources.

The Nets are also working on trades that can create more cap space, including discussions with the Bobcats in taking on the expiring contract of Boris Diaw.

This would be interesting if the Nets could pull this off somehow. Do you take the gamble on signing him long-term? It would be a nice 4/5 combo for sure.

If you can get him now take him

Its easier building around a big man and quite frankly nj ain't going anywhere with these guys anyway

Give your team a fresh start with a foundation to build on

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?

And I get that, but again:

                  Deron
                  MarShon
                  Draft Pick
Lopez(or whoever you flip him for)
                  Howard

                  Farmar(assuming he's here)
                  Morrow
                  Stevenson
                  Bogdanovich
                  J. Williams
                  Draft Pick
                  Draft Pick

                  or

                  Deron
                  Morrow
                  Turk(or Stevenson
                  Hump
                  Howard

                  Scraps for Bench

Remember, ALL of this from last year to now is all about Brooklyn so logically, you'd prefer to go with the first lineup because you're just about set as far as playoff contention goes. But I also agree in that if you have a chance to make the deal now, then you have make it.

My preference is to just wait this out because I don't want to get to where all we have is Deron and Duhwight and bums because to win a championship, we would need more than that.

Of course you need more, but there are no guarantees

I sure wouldn't bank on that because what is NJ's plan B?

Preferably through FA but I wouldn't roll the dice as NJ. Could lose both to Dallas.

Then again, still can technically even if traded for.

Don't like Orlandos strategy. Get rid of him. Protect your franchise with the big shiny new arenas future.

Plan B to them would be to just wait it out until July if he wants to team up with Deron.

There were some reports saying if they didn't get him by the deadline then they would trade Farmar, Petro and a 1st rd draft pick for Boris Diaw's expiring deal.

Said another official, who has been involved in deal talks with Orlando, New Jersey and the agents in the process: “Dwight is going to [expletive] them, and that will be especially true if he doesn’t even ask for the sign-and-trade on July 1, because he wants Brooklyn to keep assets.”
WOJ article on DuhWIGHT , pretty much sums it up.

Stan Van Gundy: "Wade, James and Bosh scare me a lot more than some rumor about me getting fired."

Dwight's really bending over the Magic. This 'decision' is gonna get the coaches and whole front office fired.

                            Goodness.

Don't see any way Magic hold onto Dwight.
