I do not support "Suck for _______ " movements unless my team actually just sucks. I think this would be one of those cases.

I wonder how realistic this is...

There's no way the Magic are going to get equal value for Dwight, but what about Dwight Howard for Blake Griffin as the centerpieces of a trade? He's definitely good enough to get people in the seats in Orlando(for a while at least), and is a good piece to build around. I don't hunt for trade proposal talk, but a trade like this would seem to make a lot of sense for both teams.

There'd have to be something else in that trade, to be sure, but that could be something. It'd be a best case scenario for Orlando, I think. Blake doesn't play much defense, but he'd instantly be the best offensive player on the team. And the Clippers would have an opportunity to be a very good defensive team, and if Chris Paul can make Tyson Chandler look like a star, imagine what he can do with Dwight Howard.

I'd take Blake Griffin over Brook Lopez, though, and that's the deal everyone says they should make. Blake at least actually rebounds.

The difference is they might get one other eh player with Blake Griffin, someone like Ryan Gomes. With Brook Lopez they're going to get another solid player and then some other younger guys they could develop or some draft picks.

The thing with Brook Lopez is that he isn't going to get any better. Blake Griffin is only a second year player. Lebron in his second year was a bad defender and look at him now. That's not to say he'll progress like Lebron, but why write him off at this stage in his career? One thing is for sure though. The NBA is mostly about star power not only in terms of what generally determines team success, but in what drives attendance, and what attracts free agents. I'd take Deandre Jordan and Blake Griffin over Brook Lopez and an assortment of misfits.

You're right, and honestly either way the Magic aren't gonna be very good, I just think they'd be better with Lopez.

Marketing wise, the obvious choice would be Griffin.

Now if we want to talk about actual Basketball skill RIGHT NOW, then we can have a discussion.

BTW, a deal of Lopez + Davis(assuming the Nets win the Draft Lottery)MarShon Brooks, Anthony Morrow and maybe even Gerald Wallace AND Picks will almost trump any deal out there, including a Blake/DeAndre combo. And it sucks because if we don win this Draft Lottery, that's exactly what Billy King is going offer Orlando, even though that is WAY too much IMO.

Now if we want to talk about actual Basketball skill RIGHT NOW, then we can have a discussion.

The Nets would be insane to do that deal. If they got the first pick and got Davis, they could almost be assured of keeping D-Will and they could go into next year with a starting lineup of D-Will, Brooks, Wallace, Davis and Lopez with Farmar, Morrow, Humphries, Green, Damion James, Gaines and Jordan Williams coming off the bench. Not too shabby.

There's only 4 players you mentioned who I'm almost certain will be back next year(Deron, Brook, MarShon and CRASH). Everyone else...not so sure about.

But yeah, they'd be fools to give up all that but if that's what The Russian wants, then they don't have much of a choice.
