I don't think it matters if Dwight stays or goes, Otis Smith is gone. I don't think he's good GM. He's signed Rashard Lewis to a max contract (and even at the time, people thought that was too much). He traded key contributors from an Eastern Conference Champion team for Vince Carter, flipped Vince and others for J-Rich and Hedo, after they let Hedo walk because they knew he wasn't worth the money they now have to pay him, then traded a bad contract (Lewis) for a worse contract and a worse player (Arenas). And that's just the personnel moves - the constant leaks out of this organization is embarrassing. It's gotten to the point where I can't even root for this team anymore, after jumping on the Magic bandwagon when my Sonics left town.

Is Dwight Howard still a possibility? Whenever you’re looking in the offseason, you’re always looking at other team’s rosters, because you’re always going to be wondering whether they’d trade that player -- whether it be Dwight or whether it be Kobe or whether it be Gasol. I like how everyone is acting like this guy is a terrible basketball player because he is unsure about where he wants to sign up to spend the next 5 years of his friggin life. Yeah, because the most dominant defensive player in the game who also happens to score 21 a game while shooting 57% from the floor and grab 14 rebounds isn't going to make any team better.

Nobody is debating or arguing that he doesn't have the skills nor is it even in question. But in the NBA, you need to be as mentally strong as you are physically if you want to win in this league.

His whole charade with the "I want to leave but I don't want to be treated like how Lebron is by Cleveland" and then at the last second, he decides he wants to stay(and we know now how much of a joke that's turning out to be)because he was worried about the people in Orlando would view him?

There's been plenty of people saying they don't want them on their team, etc. It's all over this thread. And the truth is, whether you like what he's done this year or not, he makes any team better. The Nets, Lakers, any of them, would be better off if they could get superstar like Dwight Howard.

And I think it's a joke that you need to be "mentally strong" to win. Perception is reality. If you win, you're mentally strong. Ray Allen wasn't mentally strong, yet he went to the Celtics. A couple years ago, everyone was raving about Rondo's maturity, and now people question it. Same thing with LeBron's mental toughness. His first couple years in the league, I don't think anyone questioned it. Dirk dealt with it his whole career, and then won a title, and was fine, until they started losing. There was even Kobe's mental faculties being questioned when they had the post-Shaq swoon.

It has nothing to do with the quality of player he is, because there's no denying that. Maybe, just maybe, some people would prefer not to have coach-killing bitchmade divas on their team/in their locker room.

People were questioning Kobe's mental toughness after he won 3 rings?

Dirk took crap from ALOT of people ever since 06 about how he was soft and how he was a choke artist and he never let that phase him or get in his way from becoming what he is now and that's a champion. But you think he gave a **** what people thought of him? No. You think MJ gave a **** what people thought of him? Hell no. You think Kobe gives a **** what people think of him? Hell freaking no.

Duhwight worries so much about what people think of him otherwise if he wasn't, he wouldn't be in Orlando right now. Is he a physical freak? Yes. Is he one of the best Centers in the league? Yes, top 2 no doubt. But that doesn't overshadow the fact he can be so easily swayed and manipulated that he's more worried about making others happy than instead of himself, as we seen with this whole I want to leave/I don't want to leave.

Like others have said, at least Melo made it known that he didn't want to be in Denver and wanted to be NY and maintained that same stance up until he got traded and didn't worry about what people would think of him. And Lebron, as much we all like to bash him, outside of "The Decision" he handled his FA just fine. Duhwight could learn a thing or two from them when it comes to situations like his.
